About the Author

Kate Canterbary doesn't have it all figured out, but this is what she knows for sure: spicy-ass salsa and tequila solve most problems, living on the ocean--Pacific or Atlantic--is the closest place to perfection, and writing smart, smutty stories is a better than any amount of chocolate. She started out reporting for an indie arts and entertainment newspaper back when people still read newspapers, and she has been writing and surreptitiously interviewing people--be careful sitting down next to her on an airplane--ever since. Kate lives on the water in New England with Mr. Canterbary and the Little Baby Canterbary, and when she isn't writing sexy architects, she's scheduling her days around the region's best food trucks.

All the feels yet once again. Thank you Kate! I was crying, laughing, crying again. You defiantly saved the best for last and did an amazing job with Riley and his special someone.

Wow!! just finished Riley's story and it was delicious. I laughed loudly so many times throughout this story, I'd have to stop and collect myself before reading on. I'm a pretty fast reader but this is a long and wonderful story that just couldn't be rushed. I fell in love with Riley and though he made me laugh plenty he also broke my heart a few times. I loved catching up with the rest of the family but mostly I loved that finally Riley finds happiness. Well done Kate, very well done.

Wow! What an amazing story. I have always loved Riley throughout the Walsh Series and have highly anticipated his book, and let me tell you it does not disappoint! His special someone is just that, HIS. She is perfect for him, as he is for her. They both have to overcome so much to see that but trust me the journey is worth it as it always is. His story felt so different than the other Walsh series books, but it fit him so perfectly. It has a lot of Walsh family spoilers, and a look into some new and not so new characters and I loved that about it. As with all the other Walsh series books, this one will become a staple on my re-read shelf many times over.

Riley Walsh. The keeper of all secrets. The king of worst timing ever. The sibling that forever has a stain on his shirt and his fly undone but has the most insightful words for his family whenever it's needed. I was drawn to Riley from when he was first introduced in Underneath It All (Book One) and my infatuation with him has only grown over the course of this series. Riley is hilarious and loyal but after The Spire, book six in the Walsh series, it was obvious that Riley is also deep and hides a lot. When he meets his Someone Special and learns that she could use a man in her life to move forward from a past 'mistake', they enter into a mutually beneficial arrangement of several dates over two months. This fauxmance turns into friendship which turns into one of the hottest relationships I've ever had the pleasure to read. Riley's Lady is absolute perfection: outspoken, direct, intelligent, successful but also flawed. She's real and I loved her as much as I loved Riley, which I never thought would be possible since I have never come close to liking a character as much as I like him. As usual, the writing is witty, funny, heartbreaking, and hot. I felt the gamut of emotions and both wanted to race through this story to find out the end and savor every single word because I never wanted the end to come. I am constantly astounded by the history and random facts that are included in each book that Kate Canterbary writes and always come away feeling a little bit smarter than before I started. I have loved every Kate Canterbary book more than the last but this book is going to go down as my hands down favorite book of all time. I have never anticipated a book more, never loved two characters more, and can't imagine any book being able to replace this one.

Riley is totally worth the wait! Amazing!! For those of us who have read the previous Walsh books, Riley has always come across as a bit of a goof, a fool, someone you don't necessarily take too seriously. Over the course of the series, you'd get the occasional glimpse of Riley's depth, and although he was always endearing, he often acted as the de facto court jester of Walsh Associates – good for a pratfall or showing up at an entirely inopportune time and adding a certain element of comic relief. However, in Preservation, once we get into his head you discover your prior perception of him couldn't be further from the truth. Sure, he's still the guy who turns into a clutz in certain situations (explaining all those coffee stains), and now we know why his fly is down so often (OMG!), and he still rocks the nicknames, but he's also incredibly sexy, charming, loyal and loving (oh, and so HOT in bed). The anticipation over finding out who Riley's Special Someone would be has been almost nail-biting for fans of the series. Without giving anything away, I can say that she is absolutely PERFECT for him. As per usual with Kate Canterbary's female characters, she's smart, sexy and utterly capable in so many ways but she, too, has some emotional baggage and insecurities that she brings to the table. These insecurities, in conjunction with Riley's baggage culminate in an emotional climax that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Although I have to say that the reader would definitely get more out of their reading experience if they have read the previous books in the series, Preservation can definitely be read as a standalone. However, if you haven't read the previous books, don't let this turn you off!! (fair warning: I can almost guarantee that you'll finish Preservation and immediately turn around and read the others if you haven't already.) *Although I was provided with an ARC, I loved it enough that I went ahead and purchased a copy anyway.

Sincerely, this IS my favorite book of the series. Not because it was the last one. Not because I fell deeper in love with Kate Canterbary’s storytelling. Nope, it’s because she saved the most complicated and emotional story for The End. Riley is the goofy younger brother. The light in the dark moments. The eye roll when serious words are said. Consistently the Lou Costello to the entire family of Bud Abbotts. But lingering in the background, the reader knows there is more to RISD than unzipped flies and coffee stains. Ms. Canterbary does more than deliver. This is the PERFECT story delivery that you didn’t even know you wanted. You’ll have eye opening experiences with flashbacks to the previous POVs with delightful clarity. And I haven’t mentioned the heroine. Let’s just say, you know it would take someone special. Someone who could meet Batman every step into a Happily Ever After. She is definitely found in this story. Let me end with if you’ve read every single review for the Walsh series I’ve written, I saw repeatedly I’ve stated to read in order and read them all. To truly appreciate Riley’s story it is imperative this happens. Otherwise you are short changing yourself. If I could give this book 10 stars I would. It was every emotion laced together. Often readers are sad to see a series end, but what I send off Ms. Canterbary gave us. 5 out of 5 stars.

4 Stars!! Ohhhh I love a good fake relationship story! So, I won't be giving any details away because you should enjoy them for yourselves. But, I have a few thoughts to share. This series is great. Seriously! I love the complicated members of the Walsh Family. Our hero, wellll... in the beginning (and this book starts off with quite a bang), I didn't like him. I know. I know. Shame on me. But, really, when you read the book you'll understand. However, he grew on me once I got a little further into his head. The heroine... she's kick butt! And a lot quirky. I loved her. I also thought she was the perfect match for our hero. The writing is great as per Kate Canterbary's usual style. I love this series, so I was highly anticipating this book. I was not disappointed in the least. Kate is amazing and she did our hero justice!

Ok first, yes this book is a standalone. You can read it and understand everything that happens just fine and there is a lot of backstory and spoilers from the previous books in this series. That being said, you NEED to start at the beginning. The Walsh Series is EVERYTHING. It's witty, humorous, swoon-worthy and heartbreaking. When I say it's "all the feels", I'm not kidding. I highly recommend this series! The books are so well written and you MUST start at the beginning and experience it all! Kate Canterbary is the Queen of witty banter and sarcasm. Her writing is eloquent with the perfect combination of humor, heart and heat. Her writing game is on point! Speaking of it hot in this book or is it just me. Riley and his significant other (who shall not be named because, spoilers) have the heat set to simmer for the first half of the story, but once the heat is cranked up to high, watch out. Maybe have a fire extinguisher on standby or something. Oh, and sweet little Riley Walsh is a DIRTY TALKER! I have been pining away for Riley's story for SO long. I fell in love with him so many Walsh books ago I can't even remember. I just wanted to wrap him up and love him. I didn't even know it would be possible, but I fell even harder and deeper in love with Riley this time around. No dirty pun intended. Ok, maybe a little dirty pun. Because, did I mention this book is HOT? I'm still in doubt about whether I came up with all the right words to convey just how much I loved this book. Probably because Kate took at the words. I mean, literally. She took ALL the words and she put them in this book (LOTS of words people), and I'm left with all the second and third class words to try and do this review justice. But out of all my favorite words in this book, my MOST favorite were at the end of the dedication where she dropped the promise of MORE WALSH BOOKS! Oh yes, that will do just fine Miss Canterbary!

Oh, Riley, Riley, Riley... We’ve waited oh so patiently for your story. And let me tell you, it was worth it.  Riley is one of the younger Walshes. And I love him. He’s funny, his quirks of giving people nicknames. He’s accident prone. It just made me feel warm, fuzzy, and hot and steamy. I’m not going to divulge any secrets because I take Canterbary seriously. I know the joy of reading The Walshes and I wouldn’t want to ruin it for anyone.  Canterbary has a way of keeping these Walshes in your heart. The characters are still as vibrant as ever, in the 7th book! It’s really amazing. I read a lot, a lot. I mindlessly go through books sometimes. But there’s nothing like reading a book, where you’ve followed these characters for so long. Getting to see Riley in all his glory, it’s a new perspective. I love her writing style, it's fun. There’s always those emotional moments. It’s a mixture of joy and heartbreak. And mending it all together in the end.  I know, that you already know the Boundless Stars Preservation is getting. Of course, it’s Five! Preservation is a story all it’s own. I loved watching Riley grow, from a man-child. to a man.

'Preservation' by Kate Canterbary is book Seven in "The Walshes" Series. This is the story of Riley and Kate. I have not yet read the other other books in this series so for me this was a standalone book. This book opens to Riley dreaming of his sister in law and him having sex. We catch on quickly that Riley has strong feelings for her and I wonder at first if this going to play out that they might get together. Because it stays on his feeling for her for a few pages after the books into to his dreams. But Riley does meet Kate and they both have up and coming events and family things that they don't want to attend alone. So they make a deal to attend each other events which total to about 5 events or so and then go their separate ways. But not all plans work so smoothly as they both learn. They each start to have feelings for the other not to mention the hot attraction that is going on! So can this end well when their time is up...Its a love story after all. Loved it. "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Preservation is Perfection! Riley Walsh is one of those characters that intrigues you from the start. We met Riley way back in Book 1 of this series, Underneath It All, and there has always been something special about him. He meets his special someone under quirky circumstances, that are unequivocally the "Walsh way." They both are fighting to stay afloat while their worlds appear to be in shambles. They make an arrangement that is mutually beneficial in order to preserve whatever they can salvage together. This arrangement sparks a fuse that burns slow and scorching hot! Riley and his some one special are a perfect match! The fun banter and sexual chemistry are a heady combination that will leave you begging for more! Their love is an adventure of discovering each facet and flaw that makes for a unique and wonderful journey. I love The Walsh world immensely and Preservation is "the cherry on top" of an already amazingly decadent series. Kate Canterbary's writing paints a vivid picture with texture and movement that draws the reader into the story. Once inside, you never want to leave the world that she has created. You can see it, feel it, and almost taste it. I can't wait to read more of her work and fingers crossed we'll get more glimpses into the Walsh world too!

Kate Canterbary has saved the best Walsh for last. A combination of Andy's family disgruntlement, Sam's sexual freakiness, Matt's intensity, and Erin and Shannon's secrecy. Riley and his girl hit all of the greatest hits and do it even better. They're an Opposites Attract, Arrangement, and Friends to Lovers Trope Romance. Riley's laidback and klutzy and his heroine is intense and often "hangry". However they're attracted to each other almost from their first meeting. The more time they spend together the more they learn they have in common. Both were disappointments to their parents, they enjoy eating (a lot), and to Riley's immense delight she's a superhero aficionado. Oddly enough Riley can't select one nickname for his girl. For him it's meaningful, for her it raises her insecurities. She wants to be loved, to be someone's first choice. Unfortunately Riley's still carrying his secret, impossible, unrequited torch. The Heroine in "Preservation" has been mentioned before in a previous installment of The Walshes series. However I don't want to spoil it letting the cat out of the bag. What's really sweet is that Riley doesn't have just one nickname for his girl. He tries to explain one of them to her - but she doesn't understand its nuances. Needless to say it isn't a superhero. Riley really does have a gift with nicknames. Kate Canterbary puts so much character growth in "Preservation". Riley grows out of his "Man-Child" persona learning about True Love; his heroine becomes softer and adventurous. This novel's so much fun and a joy to read. Riley's a fabulous sexual beast yet terribly tenderhearted. Kate Canterbary's reached the end of the Walsh siblings. I do hope she backtracks; revisiting a few of them. They're truly an addiction of which I'm not ready to cure myself. To read the entire review please visit: This novel was provided, voluntarily read, and honestly reviewed

ARC for honest review with no compensation Preservation is the 7th book in the Walsh series and Kate Canterbary has put it all out there! ! It can be read as a standalone but you will find lots of “spoilers” so you will want to read the whole series to fully understand the family dynamics and how it all comes together. This book is about Riley Walsh the last single sibling standing and wanting what he can’t have…. until his special someone shows up and gives him lots of sass and mouth just like he gives to his siblings…. She is smart, funny, strong, independent, sassy and has the “balls” to prove it! ! She is just what the doctor ordered to bring him to his knees or make him grow up and be the man everyone knows he can be. Riley thinks that after all he has gone through in his life that woman will want the mixed up man he has become…..can she prove him wrong and will they grow together or will his past continue to get in the way?? Will they have their HEA??? Loved the dialog between them….funny, sexy, obnoxious, weird and sassy but filled with lust that only grows the more time they spend together while including the rest of the family and showing how they all fit together as one big family! What a way to end the Walsh sibling stories but hope that some of the secondary characters will get their own books too….. Job well done, Kate! ! !

How to express how I felt about this book without spoilers....Riley, Riley, Riley. He was always the goof...the one who can't keep his pants zipped...spills everything on himself...didn't tow the family line and went to school somewhere different. While always in the thick of the family business and drama (lest we forget how many family members he has caught in "the act" -- I love how he blames them for doing it ANYWHERE), he still keeps himself removed to some degree. Always funny and completely genuine, but a lost little boy. He loves hard and we learn how difficult he is finding it to move on from a love that can never really be. But then he meets (or has he always known her?) his special someone. It may take a minute or days or weeks, but he soon realizes that SHE is the one -- the only one. But these two will have hills to climb, rivers to cross and pain to put behind them before they can have their Happily Ever After. Kate Canterbary has absolutely outdone herself. I have half this book highlighted because between their wonderful text conversations and all of their interactions, there is so much to remember, so much to want to hold close to your heart, so much to love and so much information to keep for future use. Was Riley my favorite early on? He was there, not necessarily background because he had some great storylines in previous books, but seeing that little boy literally grown up in this book has me swooning and falling in love with all the Walshes all over again. We all need a Riley in our lives and Kate has brought him to life in full living color for all of us to fall in love with. (BTW, does anyone else want to see all those pictures? -- I'd love it lol

Riley, Riley, Riley! He's finally here. If this your first Walsh book, you will not be disappointed. Yes, you can read Preservation as a standalone, but why would you? If you are a fan, Riley was evand so much more. He has matured so much, yet still spilled drinks/food on hime and still kept his pants unzipped. His Special Someone was perfection. His Honeybee was funny and sassy and had just enough vulnerability to make her really likable. Take your time reading Preservation, you want to savor this book like fine wine. The Walshes have become like family and I didn't want to stop reading. Ms. Canterbary has outdone herself with Preservation!

Riley Walsh, RISD, guardian of all secrets, nicknaming extraordinaire, has a few secrets of his own. Suffering from unrequited love, he isn't looking for anyone to take her place though he's captivated all the same. Finally finding his niche within his family's business, he longs for what his siblings have. His Someone Special (some things need to be revealed timely) lacks self esteem though she has the perseverance to accomplish many things. She finds herself paying repeatedly for an error in judgment and succumbs to her friends' suggestion to make the most of the arrangement presented to her. This is the long-awaited (at least for me) book about the beautiful mess that is Riley. I think I fell in love with him in the first book in the series, Underneath It All, and every book since has endeared him to me more. His quirks and his uncanny knack for finding things out he'd rather not know have added to it. I can't imagine a character who has been better developed than him. His Someone Special has her work cut out for her though she doesn't let it dissuade her. I have read many of this author's works and with every new publication I'm amazed at how great it is. All of the books in this series should be read as there are many things addressed in the prior ones that are essential to the evolution of Riley. Do yourself a favor and read them! I highly recommend the entire series though Riley is truly my favorite, the other books are phenomenal. This book, this world, will stay with you for a while after you finish. I can't wait to see what's next from this author. She is definitely one of my go-to authors.

Never disappointed with this author. If you've followed the Walsh family from the very first book you know how precious Riley is. This is his time and story. The numerous layers that is Riley will leave you fighting different emotions from crying to giggling. Riley finds his one and you are not going to be disappointed. Both of them have their baggage, and when it finally happens you will blush!!!!

**5 Stars** Stop what you are doing and CLICK BUY right now. Do not pass go and collect $200 without buying Preservation. This story can be read as a standalone, but I strongly suggest reading books 1-6 first since Riley's story is woven around details you learn throughout the series. It isn't necessary to read the other books first, but I know I am glad I did. Okay, now with that out of the way we can get to that good stuff. Kate has done it again. She nailed Riley's story. She delivered an amazing story and gave us the perfect person for him. I'm not going into details of who his special someone is because you have to read about her for yourself. I personally loved her. I loved who Riley was with her. I laughed so many times while reading this book because it's Riley. I hurt for him though at times, but this is only because he learned what it means to love and what true love is. His story was absolutely perfect. I seriously couldn't get enough of it. I couldn't get enough of Riley and his woman. Kate has a way of making me love all of her characters, but I think Riley and his woman are among my top favorites (I feel this statement changes with every book in the Walsh series). The female Kate chose for Riley is perfect. I loved her. She understood Riley, even when she didn't want to. She answered Shannon's question perfectly (I might have choked up during this exchange between them) and was accepted by all the females special to Riley. This was what made the story perfect. Riley got to be with someone who was perfect for him and his family agreed full heartedly. I love this series. The Walshes have become one of my favorite go to novels because of how amazing each and every one of them are. The growth of each of them is amazing and captures your attention full on and has you loving them more and more every time you was them. I hope this isn't the end of this amazing family and series.

Riley Walsh has a problem. He needs an escort to RISD weekend to create a safe zone should he encounter his spirited ex-girlfriend. He has a very difficult time not getting caught up in her shenanigans. If he wasn’t such a wreck due to pining away for a woman he can never have, he wouldn’t be in the position of having to engage a fake girlfriend. When Riley meets someone in a similar situation, it’s to their mutual benefit to enter into an agreement. A few pretend dates, they both get what they need, and can walk away with their pride intact. What neither of them expects is the friendship, and more, that develops between them. They both bring lots of baggage, and so many shambles to the table, but there’s the outside chance that there is more here to explore. What happens next will be yours to discover, and devour when you read this book. At long last, we hear the story of Riley Walsh. Readers have been patiently waiting for a glimpse into life from the viewpoint of the most endearing Walsh sibling, and will not be disappointed. What we discover is the same quick-witted, loyal, and awkward geek we have come to know and love, and so much more. His laid-back approach to life is in direct contrast to his emotional turmoil, but in many ways, he is more well-adjusted and insightful than his siblings. In Preservation, Riley comes into his own, but the path is a bumpy one filled with laughs and tears for the reader, and lots of heat. As with each installment of this series, I relished seeing events from each character’s perspective. Preservation gives us Riley’s unique perception into his family and extended family, and it is something to behold. I absolutely love Riley, his feisty someone special, and the whole Walsh clan. This story can be read as a standalone, but I can guarantee you will want to know all about these amazing characters. I cannot praise Kate Canterbary enough for her uncanny ability to create characters with such depth; they are living, breathing entities for the reader. Each of her books is a reader’s journey. Dee

Preservation (The Walshes Book #7) Kate Canterbary My, oh my Riley Walsh is all grown up and what a treat he is. As per usual Kate sucks you right in and hooks you from the first sentence. This book is so fantastically written. The characters are so rich and deep that you can’t help feeling for them and rooting them on. Riley sure got lucky with his special someone, she is the perfect match for his wit, humor, and boyish ways. Her strength of character is a perfect fit for the Walsh women as well. I love how their relationship forms and mutates after their ‘wild weekend’. As a reader who has read the rest of the series multiple times, I truly couldn’t be happier with this book or Riley’s special someone. I can’t wait to see what Kate Canterbary has in store for us in the future. Bravo Kate, Bravo.

Preservation is the seventh book in - The Walshes - series by Kate Canterbary. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but the Walsh family is full of hard working, fun, sexy and interesting people that you keep falling in love with over and over again so needless to say it is a series I highly recommend. This is the book many of us have been waiting for as it is all about Riley and his "someone special". Riley Walsh has stood by and watched as his siblings fell in love. He kept their secrets and was their shoulder to cry on too. So now as he finds himself at a crossroads wanting to get over his obsession with the woman he could never have he resorts to random hook-ups and one night stands. Realizing those too were empty he decided to abstain all together until he meets "her" and things start to change. Riley always seemed like the immature little brother that was funny, charming and even a bit goofy - so to say I was surprised by his transformation into the intensely hot and swoon worthy man he becomes would be an understatement. This book truly has it all from the witty banter between all the characters to Riley's smoking hot scenes that take your breath away - I never wanted it to end. While this enigmatic series is now technically complete that we have all the Walsh siblings stories, we can always hope that the author decides this family has more to say and gives us additional books to love :)

This book is so good that it’s hard to know where to start. I have read all of Kate Canterbary’s books and loved them, and I can say with great confidence that this is the best yet. In fact, it is so good that it should probably come with a warning label because you will not be satisfied with any other books for a while after reading Preservation. Fortunately, you can always re-read, or you can delve into the previous six books in the series. If you have never read a Walsh series book, please know that reading the others is not necessary in order to enjoy this one. If you are one of the many people who has been eagerly anticipating Preservation, you will not be disappointed. Riley is both the same clumsy, charming, opinionated, loyal person we all know and love from before, and a completely new person, with depths we suspected were there but never really knew about. He is unbelievably sexy and heartbreakingly romantic, and the woman he ends up with in Preservation is perfect for him. She, too, has some baggage she brings to the relationship, some insecurities and issues that make having a serious relationship challenging. She, too, is smart and funny and sexy, and together they are absolute magic. Hot, complicated, beautiful magic. Preservation is so well written that there are many, many highlights in my copy—and I am not a highlighter. You will discover bakeries and bars you want to visit if you’re ever in New England, insights about family and humanity, hilarious lines, and romantic pronouncements and thoughts that may well provoke tears. One of the things I loved about Preservation, which is true of Kate Canterbary’s writing in general, is that it takes many of the tropes and characteristics of romance novels and turns them on their sides. There is a moment in which the two main characters, who are friends pretending to be in a relationship at the time, discover that their hotel reservation has been mixed up and they have one hotel room instead of two. This is a very common plot device in romance, but it felt completely new to me, as though I hadn’t read 7,553 other books with mixed up hotel reservations. Another bit I adored is that the hero loves the smell of the heroine’s hair—and when he asks her what the smell is, she answers, “purple… Not grape, purple. Just smell it again, and you’ll get it.” There are a million tidbits just as charming and highlight-worthy. And for some reason YOU, dear reader, are still reading this review. Stop reading reviews and read the book. Take your time and savor it, then plan to spend more time re-reading, and some more time dipping in and out of the book. Preservation is a remarkable book, and a phenomenal reading experience.
