About the Author

The most important thing to know about me? I love to laugh.

If you can make me laugh, I instantly love you.

So if you happen to read my books, I hope you enjoy it. If not, please, feel free to make fun of me.

I'm not picky. I'll take a laugh. Even if it's at my expense.

In all seriousness? I live in southern Ohio with my awesome husband and three beautiful children. I work in a dental office and reading/writing is a passion and I'm fortunate to have so many people who support me!

Whiney, immature, and annoying. Bratty characters without a single redeemable quality. Entire chapters written in stream-of-consciousness. Boring.

Pressing Adalyn – Pretending Book 1 by Jenn Hype – 4 stars How do you know when you’ve just met your best friend? When you meet under less than desirable conditions, end up in a pushing match before rolling on the floor in hysterical fits of laughter. That’s how Adalyn and Stacy met. Everyone should have a Stacy in their life; brash and foul mouthed and funny and supportive. Stacy’s other best friend is Ian. He’s that guy that everyone wants based on his outward appearance yet he is so much deeper than that. Adalyn can be a hard person to know. “Did you know that there is no job that exists out there where you get to call the shots and boss people around without actually being the boss?” She is the girl with the tragic past who has built up walls upon walls so you just don’t get to know the real her. I actually had a hard time connecting with her after her initial introduction. I, honestly, like Stacy more. UNTIL, I was able to understand what made Adalyn tick. Adalyn admits that she has unhealthy ways of coping and knows how she appears. Ian, Ian, Ian. The patience of a saint, the looks of a god and he has never met an enemy. He’s dated the city’s elite, has a nasty ex and is willing to put up with Adalyn’s behavior because he can see behind the walls. I felt many emotions for this book and my compassion for Adalyn grew as I got deeper into the story. At one point, I almost put it down and I’m so glad I didn’t. Although I didn’t read it in one sitting, I was able to pick right back up where I left off without having to go back. This is the first book I’ve purchased from Jenn Hype and I look forward to reading more in the series.

Pressing Adalyn (The Pretending Series) by Jenn Hype Rated 5 stars The relationship between Adalyn and Stacy is completely awesome! OMg the stories that Stacy and Adalyn share about the guys they dated in their past.....hilarious! Always trying to "OneUp" each other!! Their interactions and thoughts are so crazy funny. I so want to be their friend! Oh and their pet names for each other...who does that?! Ian seems like a laid back guy who really loves pushing Adalyn's buttons. In fact that is one of his favorite things to do with Adalyn but only until he can get her to trust him. Then he is interested in other things. I love his hidden side. His apartment and office are crazy cool! Who wouldn't love to come work for him in that atmosphere? I can see how a place like that works for the creative person. Adalyn is not a person who looks for relationships no matter whether it's girlfriends or boyfriends. Women are too backstabby and men are ....just frustrating. So she usually acts out before they forget too close. Ian is different. Ok well at first she thought he was rich and snobby and only looked at her as a bedmate. Now he seems to help calm her with his touches. She can't figure it out. She is a person who is competitive, quick witted, loud, hates to be touched and can't keep a job because she becomes bored too quickly. But yet she is letting Ian get close and his touch....the things that does to her body. One of my favorite things about this book is the relationships between the people. They are humorous and brash but yet they have their soft moments too. Oh and loyalty...yeah they all have spades!

Pressing Adalyn (Pretending Book 1) by Jenn Hype is the first book in her Pretending series. This is my first book by this author and I will be going back for more. She has written a little different story with characters that are a little off scale in my opinion but I think that is why I enjoyed it so much. This story is about healing from trauma and learning to love yourself and others. I enjoyed her writing style and attention to the details around the characters. These characters will take you on a roller coaster of various emotions from laughter to compassion. They are a little rough but that is what makes this story flow and engaging. You will need to find out what happens to these characters as they start a journey of self discovery and learning to love. She has not had the easiest life. After surviving a nasty situation, she still managed to graduate college. Now it is three years later she has no plan, no money and no goals. She has decided to move to the big city to live with her best friend, Stacy. She is hoping to put her destructive behavior behind her and put her life back on track. Stacy has not been the most up standing citizen either. Stacy barely has her stuff together and if she doesn't end up in jail she will be doing good. Before she can get her life going in the right direction, Ian walks into her life, throwing her even more off course. He is pretty persistent and can't seem to take a hint. He is a walking contradiction, that doesn't realize that his gorgeous smile and unrelenting kindness won't work on her. She keeps telling herself, she doesn't want a serious relationship and she has sworn off sex when she moved in with Stacy, even if she wanted Ian, which she don't. Will she give in to the sexy, gorgeous, tempting Ian? Ian and her relationship is one that is not to typical. He is Stacy's best friend, but she doesn't care, she doesn't want him. She promised herself no relationships, no casual sex no matter how much she wants him. He is persistent with her, trying to change her mind but will he? They are both so damaged, will they learn to trust each other and open up to each other? The closer they get to each other, will she change her mind about him? The characters in this book are really rough from their language to their behavior. There will be times you will ask yourself, what is wrong with her but then at other times, you will say OMG! Considering her past, I understand why she is sassy, stubborn and down right mean sometimes, I probably would be too, if I went through that. I just couldn't help having compassion for her and for Ian. Ian puts up with so much from her but he has a determination like non other. The problems they have and go through, don't go away over night but it is how they handle them that makes the difference. The secondary characters in this story are just as great as the two main characters. I get that this book is not for everyone but given the chance it really is an enjoyable read that you will get something out of it. Find out what happens to these two as they start their journey of finding love, trust, healing and maybe just their HEA. This is my first story by Jenn Hype and it won't be the last. Jane wears many hats in her life including writing, song writing, mother and more. She says life is to short to take anything seriously, so she don't. You will enjoy this fast paced page turner until the last page. It will keep you engaged until the en
