About the Author

Award-winning novelist Bette Lee Crosby brings the wit and wisdom of her Southern Mama to works of fiction—the result is a delightful blend of humor, mystery and romance along with a cast of quirky charters who will steal your heart away.

“Storytelling is in my blood,” Crosby laughingly admits, “My mom was not a writer, but she was a captivating storyteller, so I find myself using bits and pieces of her voice in most everything I write.”

Crosby’s work was first recognized in 2006 when she received The National League of American Pen Women Award for a then unpublished manuscript. Since then, she has gone on to win numerous other awards, including The Reviewer’s Choice Award, FPA President’s Book Award Gold Medal and The Royal Palm Literary Award.

Her published novels to date are: Cracks in the Sidewalk (2009), Spare Change (2011), The Twelfth Child (2012), Cupid’s Christmas (2012), What Matters Most (2013) and Jubilee’s Journey (2013). She has also authored “Life in the Land of IS” a memoir of Lani Deauville, a woman the Guinness Book of Records lists as the world’s longest living quadriplegic.

Previously Loved Treasures is the second installment from the Serendipity series. I found this book to be beautifully written with mystery mixed in. I loved this story line and look forward to the next in the series. 5 stars.

Couldn't get into the story and stopped on page 17. I very seldom stop reading a book this quickly. I read 3-4 books per week and like to give the author a chance.

Simplistic, naively drawn characters inhabit a vague, unrealistic setting. It does provide a happy ending if that is what you require.

After having read The Twelfth Child, I knew I wanted more from this author. While Previously Loved Treasures is a continuation of the series, there are references to the earlier book throughout this story, this novel stands alone as a wonderful read. What does it take to be a family? Who makes up a family? Just because you are born of the same bloodline, are you more deserving than others? Bette Lee Crosby tackles tough questions and answers them in a beautiful way that makes one think about their values. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys small town romances, cozy mysteries, excellent general fiction, light paranormal - especially those who can appreciate that angels may not always be perfect, and those who want to curl up and get lost in a heart warming book. After reading this book and loving it as much as the previous one, buying the next by Bette Lee Crosby will be an automatic decision.

Previously Loved Treasures - Heart-Warming and Thought Provoking MUST READ!! For a more in depth review, please visit my blog, Chorley Chronicals! I have found that anytime I need comfort, that Bette Lee Crosby is the author to fall back on and I must say that with Previously Loved Treasures, there was no exception. I am only disappointed that I allowed myself to go so long between reading Crosby novels. This woman sure knows how to tug at all of your heart strings and captivate her reader! Bette Lee Crosby's books only get better with time! I always find it difficult to surpass the last, but someone each new book does just that! I always know that when I pick up a book written by Bette Lee Crosby that I am going to find myself going through a roller coaster of emotions, which every now and again is a good thing! Only Bette could make you feel like you've hit rock bottom right alongside one of her characters to, only moments later, be overwhelmed with joy, then finding yourself filled with fury, immediately followed by great passion! Crosby is the only author that I know of that can make her readers feel just as much part of her books as every single one of her characters. I was devastated to find that the story was over!  I had quite the love/hate relationship with the characters. I had much love for half the characters and much despise for others, which I think is exactly what Bette was trying to do.  Overall, this story was thought-provoking and heartwarming and thoroughly enjoyable! I always have a wonderful time reading Bette's books, and this book was no different. As usual, after reading Previously Loved Treasures, it's left me yearning for more by Bette!

This book, while part of a series, can stand on its own. It is Bette Lee Crosby at her finest; she creates characters you could picture in your own hometown or even your family, characters you'd be happy to call your friends. Crosby draws you into the story of a widow seeking a way to support herself, and the quirky furniture store that always carries exactly the items its customers need.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. When I pick up a Bette Lee Crosby book, I expect a heartwarming story filled with southern wit and wisdom. That is definitely what I got with this book. I also expect to experience a myriad of emotions in the process of reading. Again, I was not disappointed. Leave it to Bette to break my heart then proceed to lift my spirits, to spur me to anger then restore my faith in the goodness of people. This is the second book in the Serendipity series. Although it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone book, there are things that make more sense if you read The Twelfth Child before this one. The connection between the books is not evident immediately but I was able to catch the subtle clue well before the end of the story, where it is revealed. I really appreciated the element of magic that was such an important aspect to this story. Ms. Crosby is a master at creating characters that are richly dimensional. Some are easy to love and some are easy to hate. I love the way she threads their private thoughts into the story. It really adds a depth to the story as a whole and helps the reader become more invested. I highly recommend reading this book. Ms. Crosby is not only a talented writer but a fabulous storyteller. I am so grateful to have been introduced to her as an author and really enjoy her style. I have read and recommended nearly all the books she has written and intend to keep doing so.

After her husband's death Ida wanted to find her estranged son.  Hiring a private detective to search for Jim proved to be very expensive and in order to pay for the search she decided to rent rooms in her house. The detective was unable to find her son but found the granddaughter Ida didn't know existed. Soon Ida and Caroline were united and along with the roomers formed an unusual family. Previously Loved Treasures was a unique second hand store.  The owner always seemed to know exactly what you needed, even if you didn't.  Peter Pennington seemed to know when you were coming, why you were coming and exactly what you could pay. The author had me in the palm of her hand from the first paragraph until the ending.  The people were real people with real life issues.  Parts of the story made me laugh, others made me cry and others made me angry.  The ending gave me goosebumps. A good book gives you a pleasant way to spend a few hours.  It may entertain you.  A great book makes you think, makes you feel.  This was most assuredly a great book. I received this book for free in exchange for providing this honest review.

I was blessed to have received an ARC copy of this book to read. I loved this book. The characters are so well developed that I felt like I knew them. It was magical. There are few characters that I didn't love, but they can't all be wonderful, just like in real life. The story is amazing and the book hard to put down. What a wonderful storyteller Bette is.Absolutely magical! I loved it! This is a must read for all! Don't miss out on this one! A MUST READ! Thank you Bette Lee Crosby!

I was one of the fortunate people allowed to read an ARC copy of this wonderful book Previously Loved Treasures. I really enjoyed this story of making do and making friends. Finding family and overcoming adversity together. The little tie in to the wonderful story The Twelfth Child was a special surprise which I loved. It has a sprinkle of magic and of giving the bad guys what they deserve. Mrs Crosby has done it again what a talented author!

I was given an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. I can honestly say that this was a wonderful and heartwarming story. The story and the characters had me from the first page to the last and I hated for it to end.  The characters are so well developed and believable that you can't help but like them, most of them anyway. There is always one that can't seem to belong and get along with everyone else. That one selfish and self centered one that you want to grab by the collar and yell at. But all the others will grab you by the heart and not let go. I loved the way that this book tied into The Twelfth Child, which is the first book in this series and a great book also.  I'm hoping that Mrs Crosby will write another in this series and maybe a few more about some of the wonderful characters. Each has a story of their own that I would love to read. Rowena, the one Caroline saved from an unhappy life. Wilbur, who fell for Ida even though she never knew that he loved her. Each one added so much to this awesome story that they would make a great story of their own.  It is a magical and very heartwarming story without a doubt. One of those that makes you fall in love with the characters and not forget them for a very long time. If ever. I "LOVED" it!!!

Betty Lee Crosby has given us another emotional story on life, love and relationships. Ida Sweetwater searches for her long gone son after her wonderful husband has died . Longing for her son has caused Ida to use all her funds for a detective, so she rents out rooms in her lovely old house. Soon most of the residence become like family, and she's also found a grown granddaughter that she didn't even know existed.  There is also a mysterious little man, Peter Pennington, who runs a shop full of unusual items. Strangely enough, he always seems ready with everything his customers need--whether they think they need it or not. When Ida decides to leave her home and all it's positions to her granddaughter, trouble brews within the house. Who is family really? Those who love us and want the best for us, or simply those in the "legal" family? Crosby has written a lovely story that touches the heart and emotions deeply. Some of her characters begin to feel like good friends, while others become " kick um to the curb" creeps. Her thoughts on love and life are valuable for pondering in everyone's life. Another great read by Crosby!

I was given the opportunity to preview Previously Loved Treasures and then I did a re-read of the final version. I have yet to find a book by Bette Lee Crosby that doesn't pull at my heartstrings. When you sit down to read a book by Bette it is like someone asked you to come and have a seat on their porch and hang out in a rocking chair to relax. Her characters have so much dimension, her writing style is tinged with southern charm and her story is one that you will remember because you become so invested in the characters. This story starts with Ida who has just lost her husband and buried him and goes in search of a son that walked out 30 years earlier. What Ida finds is a granddaughter who she loves unconditionally and who loves her back. During Ida's search for her son, she has to come up with money for the private investigator and through raw grit and determination she finally finds a way to do that. Ida turns her house into a boarding house and the boarders become family. After Ida dies, she leaves the house to her granddaughter, Caroline who steps in and finds the family she never had. An emotional, heartfelt book that will make you want to keep reading even after the story is finished. If you have not had an opportunity to read any of her books, you are missing out. Please note that this is the second book in a series. The first book is entitled The Twelfth Child. 5 STARS
