Ivan Everley, 13th Baron Rothvale, would admit he's the last person on earth who should have custody over a priceless collection of art. British law affords him the title of 'Lord,' but underneath all the trappings he's just a regular guy, despite being a world champion in archery, and certain...proclivities of a private nature. But Ivan's public celebrity is merely a sham-a carefully guarded secret borne out of the pain of betrayal. Even his cousin Ethan Blackstone doesn't know the truth behind the man he considers a brother.
Lord Rothvale has a plethora of problems piled up to his aristocratic eyeballs, but that doesn't stop him from complicating his world further when a beautiful art conservationist shows up to appraise his inherited collection of paintings. Once Ivan gets a taste of Gabrielle Hargreave, mistaken identity or not, he can't think of anything but how good the green-eyed beauty felt in his arms.
The chase is on, and Ivan's dominant side isn't taking 'no' for an answer-but yet, Gabrielle might just teach our discontented lord a thing or two about life, and about himself, and help them both discover the undeniable truth in what it means to find something genuinely... priceless.

Loved the writing, no surprises there: very few authors out there can write romance as beautifully as Miller (although the guy did get on my nerves is some scenes). Also, in her characteristic way, she intertwines the storyline with other books (here, Gaby and Ivan's romance intertwines with Ethan and Brynne's from the Bkackstone series). I had wondered since those books what went on between Gaby and Ivan at the Marlenton gala. You get that and some more, but not much more. And that's why I am disappointed with the book. I paid for a full book and got just 130 pages that are intended to set the stage for who knows how many more books. Let us call this for what is: a novella intended as a prequel. Because little happens. There is not even a cliffhanger, we are just left hanging in there until the next book comes out in October. It simply felt anticlimatic and incomplete. I really am tired about this money-making serials that take advantage of the emotional involvement of the readers in characters from previous books. It is perfectly fine to have spin-offs. Just include a decent number of pages and storyline in each book and don't misrepresent what you are selling. And that is why this book gets 3 rather than 5 stars.

Enjoyed this book very much. The characters are great, and I loved the settings of the story. I just wish the book was longer and more of a complete story. Looking forward to Part 2.

Raine Miller knows how to bring chemistry to her characters.  Ivan and Gabi just get started in this book. Can't wait for installment two coming in November.  This book set up the romance. Each has something in their past that has scared them. Hoping to find out in book 2.

I really enjoyed this story. I liked how the Blackstone trilogy fit right into it. I remember thinking in that story "how did Ivan and Gaby end up together at the Mallertron exhibit without being introduced and why was Gaby so distant ti Brynn when they talked the next day?" Now it all makes perfect sense! I really wanted to read more and I was sad it ended so soon. Now I have to wait to get my Ivan and Gaby fix, come on October!

I am a big fan of Raine Miller. I have waited a while for this book. I was not disappointed. She did a wonderful job of bringing Gaby and Ivan to life. I can't wait for the next installment.

Lord Ivan was a character I found very intriguing in the Blackstone Affair novels. He was jaded and unafraid even with death threats against him.  I always wanted to know more about him and where the ennui came from.  I also loved getting to know Gaby, even though I feel like she's hiding a lot more than Ivan. Ivan and Gabby have amazing chemistry.  From their first interaction, all the way through the last page, I was hooked.  I thought it was wonderful the universe was conspiring to throw them together, but somehow they found a way to do it on their own.  I read this book in a matter of hours, but felt like it was minutes instead.  Thankfully the book didn't end on a cliffhanger, otherwise I might have lost my mind since the second part of The Rothvale Legacy hasn't been published yet.   I'm really looking forward to finding out what happened to Gaby and Ivan in the past to make them they way they are now.  Both of them are broken in ways and I'm hoping they can somehow find a way to lean on each other while they find themselves.  Of course doing so also leaves them raw and vulnerable, so I hope they can do it as painlessly as possible.  I'm also looking forward to seeing Ethan, Brynne, and the rest of Ivan and Ethan's family members.   I've read three of the four Blackstone Affair novels and now one from The Rothvale Legacy and I've enjoyed all four novels immensely.  Raine Miller does a wonderful job of immersing her readers into the world she's created.  It's really hard to not be affected by her stories and fall in love with them.
