When Danny Hansen was fifteen years old, Serbians broke into his family home in Croatia; they killed his mother, and raped before killing his younger sisters. He knew this was a religious war between the Bosnian Orthodox Christians and the Catholic Croats with Muslims in the mix. After killing the murderers of his family, Danny joined a militia seeking justice, but found no solace from the nightmare of what happened to his loved ones. When he immigrated to America, he became a priest, but though he abides by the law of love and compassion for fellow mankind, he loathes the influential hypocrites who use the laws of man and God to fuel their avarice and perversions. Danny is an avenging killer targeting pedophiles, murderers and cold blooded sinners. His latest target is vicious Jonathan Bourque; also wanting this vile man dead is Renee Gilmore, a former hooker and drug addict. Danny meets Renee and takes her into his confidence while plotting how to kill the beast; unaware that what they wish whether it comes true or not will come back to haunt them. The Priest's Graveyard is a character driven tense thriller starring two people who have given up on societal justice as each has been victims with no recourse in society except kill the enemy; yet in spite of their homicidal tendencies Ted Dekker enables readers to feel compassion for the pair. This non-stop action tale never slows down even with twists and turns that have the audience wondering what next will happen as Mr. Dekker pulls the rug out from his fans by switching direction several times in this exciting thriller. Renee Gilmore is a helpless victim sucked into a trap of drugs, hopelessness and fear. When she is rescued, she feels forever free and relieved. When an unimaginable string of events occurs, Renee is forced to take action and her life is suddenly intertwined with a strange priest. Danny Hansen would be that strange priest. Once being a helpless victim himself, he is sick of being a witness of cruelty to human innocents as the slip through the law's hands. Thus, he decides to take the law into his own hands (only when the law fails) all in the name of justice. In this corrupt system there are many in the priest's graveyard. Judge not, or you too may be judged. To start off, 3D rating! This book completely lives up to the Dekker standard. Very readable book. The perspective in this book is an interesting one. It is in the first person point of view from a woman, but it quite often switches to the third person point of view of a man. That makes for an interesting style that allows you to crawl inside one character's head, and glance inside another's. The feel of the book is moderately dark, but in my opinion in no way a thriller, despite other claims. I think it is more in the suspense category, though not like "The killer is about to get you!" For a nice change there are no serial killers. Both the twist and message of this book grew in my mind like a natural inception so that I felt completely in sync with the characters. Great work Ted, unexpected and amazing!

Ted Dekker has done it again! He has taken two characters from very different walks of life and brought them together in a tale that is fast-paced and exciting. Somehow he is able to delve into the deepest, darkest depths of the human psyche. So much, in fact, that everything Danny and Renee struggle with hits home. He draws the reader in so intensely that you feel as though you are them. These are things that you and I have dealt with. Perhaps you have a sister or a brother who has struggled in a similar way. It was beautiful and sad, thrilling and disturbing, at times tough to stomach...yet so worth it. I couldn't put this book down. I laughed. I cried. I got angry. It gave me hope. It kept me on the edge of my seat. This is a story I will be thinking about for days to come. Any book that can cause me to feel this way gets two thumbs up! Definitely his best book yet!

This is the first book by Ted Dekker and I didn't know what I was missing. It is an intense, captivating, thrill ride from the start. Completely original, hard to put down tale of a girl who can be considered a lost soul and a priest focused on revenge so something that happened a long time ago. The first person you meet in Renee. Renee is a girl who moved to California while young with high hopes and dreams. Unfortunately she got caught up in the world of drugs instead. She is rescued one night by a mysterious man, Lamont Myers, who can only be credited with saving her life. Lamont from what we learn is an eccentric individual who lives in Malibu. He gives Renee a home and provides a place where she can be safe. We also meet Danny Hansen. Danny is originally from Bosnia, where he watched his mother and siblings killed in his own home during the way. He was able to avenge their deaths and learn more about those involved in that religious war before he left for America to try and recover. He ends up a priest in California who has some unusual side projects. He has become, in his mind, an avenging angel to others. Their stories come together when Lamont goes missing and Renee finds her way out of his house after living there for a year. She is going after his partner Jonathan Bourque who she believes knows something of his disappearance. Danny is looking into Bourque as well for vastly other reasons. Their paths cross one night and they end up working together, with Danny teaching Renee much he has learned about revenge. Both characters are immensely complex. But not hard to follow. Their stories unfold as time goes on and its easy to keep up. The theme of judgment is highly focused on. Where is the line crossed about judging others. How far can you go before you are as wrong as they are? This book was a complete page turner from the beginning, kept moving at a great pace and you couldn't wait to find out what happened next. All the way to the thrilling conclusion where you follow the characters to see what they learn after their life changing journey's. If you are looking for a great suspense novel, pick this one up right away.

The story (a vigilante priest and drug addict accomplice) as described in the synopsis seemed as if it would be a great story. But it is destroyed by the constant inner turmoil of the characters. I found my self skipping through pages to eliminate the "whoa is me" portions of the book which totally broke the flow of the story of vengance and vigilante justice. Then the "KUMBAYA" ending killed me I'm sorry but I have no idea how some one can give this 3 or 4 stars poorly done.

Typical for a Dekker novel and full of twists and surprises. Suspense level was a little low but the plot kept me interested. I read it in two days, so I guess it has "page-turner" qualities. I wasn't happy with how he chose to wrap up the book, but I'll let you be the judge of that.

I was lucky to be one of many given the opportunity to read and participate in a blog tour of The Priest's Graveyard I have to say I really enjoyed this book. If you are interested in getting this book then go to the website. The book ended completely different than I thought it would. Ted Dekker is an author whose works I will definitely read. In The Priest's Graveyard we find two major characters who have individual stories that intertwine and change them both. Danny is a very unusual priest As a child in Bosnia he was witness to the rape and murder of his mother and two sisters. As an adult he believes he is doing God's work by getting justice for those like his mother who are unable to get justice for themselves. He thinks about what he is doing. If it ever becomes about vengeance then he will stop. After all as a priest he must do this task for God. Renee is a young woman who has travelled down the wrong path. As a heroin addict she has lived the life of a prostitute. Then her pimp Cyrus came after her. Running from Cyrus and the demons in her head she runs into the path of a car. Lamont is the driver and man who rescues her. He takes her back to his home. She is then a victim of his OCD. Everything must be done a certain way, the doors are all locked (for her protection) he tells her. Then one day he tells her that his business partner is dirty and will probably have him killed. When he doesn't show up one day but someone else does, she manages to escape. She decides to go after the man who killed Lamont. It is this event that causes Renee and Danny's paths to cross. They are both after the same man. But is it the correct thing to do? I had my head wrapped around the plot so tight that I was shocked when I saw it take a turn I wasn't expecting. This was an excellent thriller that I couldn't put down. This is a must read for all fans of Ted Dekker and for all those people who love a good thriller. It almost had a "Dexter" feel to it. A definite must read.

I'm a leisure reader, 1 chapter here-1 chapter there. But with Ted Dekker's books I have trouble putting them down after just 1 chapter. He keeps me wanting to know what's going to happen next.

This is not really a review of the book, It is a review of me. If this book does not result in self examination where judging others is concerned, nothing will! As far as the book goes Ted Dekker is as talented as a writer comes. After reading all but three of Ted's books since last August I actually was conceited enough to think I knew what was coming next. The psychological circle that the main characters were caught in is something I could have never guessed. Read this book and you will see what I mean. How do you think this stuff up Ted?

Danny Hansen is a priest with a past... After wintessing the death of his family Danny decides he is now the law, and he will do whatever it takes to clense the world of lawbreakers, even if it means killing them. Renee Gilmore is a young girl who has made some bad choices and ends up a drug addict, fleeing the grasp of her drug suplier and abuser while on a high she is almost killed. Lamont Myers comes to Renee's rescue and saves her from death, bringing her to his home, but Lamont is a man of the law as well and makes Renee promise she will never leave his house and gives her other extreme rules. Danny gets a lead on a really evil man while handing out justice and decides to follow that lead. When Lamont is killed Renee goes after than man she thinks did it Lamont's boss Jonathan Bourqe and that is when Danny Hansen and Renee Gilmore's paths cross and it gets really complicated. A twisted tale of law and love play out in this book and you will never guess where it ends. Judge lest ye be judged...

Ted DeKker does it again. This book keeps you flipping the pages from start to finish. The only fault I could find is that the book ends. This is a story I could keep reading, if fact as soon as I was done I started reading it again. I have given copies to friends and they are hooked also. This is a great story and I am refraining from giving any details aways because I don't want to ruin it for anyone. But definatly get this book it is an exciting read.

I have to start by saying I was enthralled! I would love to put a synopsis of the book in this review, but I find it difficult to do without completely giving it away or telling you once again what you can read in the "Synopsis" or in other reviews. I will tell you this book is worth the read! Ted delivers heart-stopping thrills with a curve-ball that brings you to an ending that I truly never saw coming. Danny Hansen and Renee Gilmore are the representation of all of us. They do what we all secretly wish we could do, fight for those who can't fight for themselves. The question of morality is their only guide, but this becomes a dangerous path as they grow closer together. Follow every twist and cruel turn as they discover that only love and grace can change the world!

The Priest's Graveyard has touched me in a way few books have. It has reminded me why I want to be a writer. I don't feel this way just because of the story's vivid characters, intense plot, and surprising twists that only Dekker can create. And it's also not just because I found myself laughing out loud at spots and choking back tears at others. And it's not just the dark edge to the story that kept me on the edge of my seat. What got me most about this book was the story itself. I really feel like I went on a journey with these characters, and I lived the story myself. This book changed my perspective of the world; I can't look at myself or others in the same way I used to. It's hard to believe I can learn so much truth from a fictional story, but this book has opened my eyes. I can't explain how, but this book got under my skin and stayed there. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

As a die-hard Dekkie, I always approach Ted's newest books with more than a little trepidation. That's because I don't want to be disappointed. Thankfully, The Priest's Graveyard not only met my high expectations, it surpassed them a hundred fold! First of all, this story has heart. It's so genuine and heartfelt that I could almost feel it beating in my hands. Danny is a gun wielding vigilante priest from Bosnia who's on a one-man mission to rid the world of injustice one "viper" at a time. Renee is a recovered drug addict seeking revenge. Together they head out on a journey of discovery, justice and love. Ted Dekker grabs hold of you from the start and never lets you go with a plot that's just my type--like a roller coaster; fast paced and full of unexpected twists! I immediately fell in love with Danny and Renee, who are, in my opinion, two of Ted's most believable and lovable lead characters to date. The writing was smooth and flowed well throughout the entire book. Most importantly, The Priest's Graveyard left me feeling changed, challenged and inspired to love, forgive and seek The Truth.

*Some Slight Spoilers* The Priet's Graveyard will keep you enthralled from page one. It is not like any other Ted Dekker book written before. This book includes many graphic scenes which may surprise some people, but is the story of love, judgement, and redemtion. Throughout history there have been many patriots whose actions may seem wrong for their time, but history would not be the same if they had not acted out as they did. Danny Hansen in this book is one such man. He is seen to many as a priest but is also a vigilante who takes the judgement of others into his own hands. His life becomes entangled with a recovering heroin addict, Renee, who decides she wants to be just like Danny. Throughout this book, they struggle between what is right and wrong and whose job is it to judge anyways. I really enjoyed this book and could not put it down once I started it.

Ted Dekker's "The Priest's Graveyard" is a warped thriller revealing a delicate mind game with a twist so shocking you will find yourself re-reading it over and over to see where you missed the obvious! The master story-teller takes his craft to a new level of artistic force in this scandalous tale of a Bosnian war immigrant with a childhood trauma that shapes him into an adult to be feared.

To all the book worms and Dekker fans, This is one of Dekker's best novels, and it is twisted. The villain is the protagonist; the protagonist is the villain. The vigilante is the hero and the killer. It's a fascinating twist from the normal good guy, bad guy motif. It's entirely unique, impossible to put down, specific on all the best details, and comes with a theme that will eat at your head long after you close the back cover. This is one of those gems that jumps right to the top of your favorite book list after ten pages of reading. Absolutely incredible. Absolutely mind shattering. Jasha Shay

Different is one word to describe this book. It is not like most Dekker novels yet, it is. I loved Renee and Lamont.until I learned the truth of Lamont, that is. I loved Danny, the priest. This book is different in the "graphicness" as one of my friends put it, but not in a way that I would stop reading it. Graphic, in the sense, that some of the things that happened were quite shocking. (page 25 mainly). Renee's OCD made me laugh. The love Danny shows, and his "Confession" at the end is.I don't have a word for it. Amazing. All in all, I loved this book. As a novel I promoted for weeks, and bought 8 copies of,and was majorly excited about I was not let down. I couldn't put it down-unless it was necessary. Amazing read!

This book is Ted Dekker's new master piece. A MUST READ for all just like all the other books written by Ted Dekker! Once you start reading it you can't put it down. The characters are so real that they capture your heart in this amazing story. You connect with the character's feelings like no other book. The story and plot are just simply genius! Repeat: MUST READ!

Dekker has woven a tale of love so deep and haunting that it will plague your mind days after finishing. You'll stay on the edge of your seat from the very first chapter to the last, waiting for the resolve. Yet the resolve is nothing that you would expect or perhaps it is. For if you look deep enough, you will see the story is actually is not about the characters; it is about the deepest places of your heart.

You should really read this book when you have a decent amount of time on your hands so you can give it the appreciation it deserves and devour it in one or two sittings. The second you pick it up, you won't want to put it down. Humor mixed with wide eyed, edge of your seat action and situations that make your heart pound is what you'll find in Ted Dekker's latest novel. Without giving anything away, The Priest's Graveyard causes you to examine your own beliefs of right and wrong and judgement. Do you feel superior to others? Or do you only feel superior to those who inflict pain on others? Questions like these will wander through your mind as you embark on this wild ride with Renee Gilmore and Danny Hanson. It will leave you stunned and racing to the first chapter so you can read it again.
