Club owner Adam Kessler is no one’s hero. He joined the army to get away from the gang-life that had taken his brother, only to come home to heartache. He doesn’t hide his dominant side, and he doesn’t hesitate in his need to protect or enforce his particular brand of retribution on those who’ve earned it. There’s no way in hell he could walk past a man hassling a woman in an empty parking lot and do nothing. Only when the confrontation is over and the voluptuous blonde turns eyes filled with desire to him, does Adam realize he’s in trouble.

Psychologist Olivia Hamilton grew up with the proverbial silver spoon, and has never regretted spending more time on her career than on romance, until she meets Adam Kessler. He’s dark, he's dangerous, he's deliciously dirty...and she wants him.

Passion burns quick and hot between them and soon they’re caught up in an intensely carnal relationship that neither can deny. But when Olivia’s life is threatened and she learns just how dangerous he can be, will it be too much for the civilized psychologist to handle, or will she truly accept the man and win her hero’s heart?

Primal started out great for me. First of all, we had the supremely attractive cover (totally drool worthy and will definitely sell this book), and then we had the great beginning that made me feel like it was shaping up to be another good read for me. Adam was a character I liked right off the bat. He is tortured, dark, and mysterious so what's not to love, right? Olivia, in the first chapter, demonstrated that she was going to be one of those heroines that is strong and admirable, which are both characteristics that I love in my female leads. As I got more into the book though, I unfortunately have to admit that I started to struggle. It wasn't because I felt like the story was bad, because the potential was really there, but just that I couldn't connect with these characters no matter how hard I tried. It felt like they never really progressed, and even the sex scenes had a hollow quality to them lacking any real emotional connection. The story just all felt very surface level to me. Now don't get me wrong because again the potential was definitely there, but I think it just lacked somewhere in the execution. I wanted to dive into Adam's dark past more, and Olivia just seemed too accepting of it all right away going against the type of woman I thought she was. I just figured she would have wrestled with that more emotionally. We also never have an actual "scene" between the two main characters despite him being the owner of Overwatch. Sure they get a bit kinky on their own, but it gets glossed over. It isn't that I need to see that, but I think that is something that builds a strong connection in that type of relationship to a reader, so to skip out on it left me feeling cheated of seeing that emotional connection between them. Anyway I digress...overall I do think the potential was there for a great story, but I found it lacking in follow through. I won't discount reading White in the future, so I hope that she can dive into her characters more in the future for us.

Can I just start by saying this book was HOT!!! Adam is ex military and owns an BDSM night club that is very discreet and is all about protecting his clients. Although Adam does not consider himself a hero he does not hesitate to help Olivia Hamilton when she is fighting not only for her life but her virtue when some hoodlums try and rob and rape her. Although I first thought this book would be the classic bad boy from the hood meets uptown girl with a silver spoon in her mouth, it was so much more. Adam has that dark allure of a man who has done things and crossed lines that no person should ever have to in the name of justice. He has a soft heart with a lot of ruff edges. You would figure being an owner of a BDSM club he would be over the top but when it came down to it he just wanted to right the wrongs of the past and step into the future with the very sexy Olivia. Olivia is a Psychologist who has showed the world and her family that she can stand on her own without daddy's money. She has focused more of her life on her job than on men, so when Adam comes to the rescue she cant help but fall for this tattooed hunk of a man whose body promises all kinds of adventure. Primal shows us about having the best of both worlds. Nothing better than being a strong woman at work and having a strong man at home to take you places between the sheets that you have never imagined. Great Job Sasha White, this book made me very interested in what being Primal is all about. Cant wait for the next book in the series!

Primal - not to be confused with Sasha's other release Primal Male of the Psychic Hunters series is the second book in the Overwatch series and is about Adam whom readers get a glimpse of in the first book. Even though the BDSM club part really wasn't necessary the story would have worked just as well if she said that Adam was simply a kinky SOB. Either way we still get a sexy, dirty talking, panty dropping sweat maker. I thought the dynamic between Adam and Olivia was interesting and could have been explored more in depth however Primal really isn't that type of story. The instant attraction was ofcourse a fundamental presence in the story and I did so enjoy watching Olivia come undone. Although I think there was more in her than was first assumed. I also felt that Adam is a bit more softer than he is hard since we get quite a few scenes with him coddling Olivia, being gentle and soft hearted. It will interest many ladies interested in a man that can dominate in bed (even though there isn't a lot of that dominance explored.) Primal is hot, its sweet, and its got a hero that women will love.

Adam and Olivia’s story begins when he saves her from an attack. They are immediately drawn to one another and a connection begins. Adam holds back that first night, not wanting her to regret a night with him. He gave her the means to get in touch with him and she uses it. They both decide what they want and dive right in from here. The story has steamy qualities you cannot ignore. The sex is a little tamer than most BDSM romances, but that isn’t a bad thing. The story flowed well; however I was left wanting a little more of the story.  Maybe it could have used a little more internal struggle in divulging information about his past? I also think Olivia jumped in a little too quickly to the new relationship and lifestyle.   This book is a great mild BDSM read. I’m looking forward to reading more from Sasha White.  This is definitely an author you will want to check out. Enjoy!
