I have read other Kelman books, but this one is really awful. The plot line is very disjointed - time passes with no continuity. But the ending is not believable: A nine-months pregnant and ungainly young woman, who probably has not ridden a horse in years, practically leaps astride a killer horse (bareback) and summons help!!! No way.
