The Prince of Shadows is one of my new favorites of Nancy Gideon. I fell in love with Cale in her moonlight series (which is an amazing series) where he was introduced. He's charming, sexy, full of spirit. He is a complex character, just the right amount of a good man with alot of bad boy in him. His sarcasm and sweet talk will melt your heart. Oh and did I say sexy... this prince is definitely a charmer. His life has been one of hardships and wanting to be accepted in his family and to win the love of his life. This is a must read... you will fall in love with Kendra and Cale love them prince's

Reviewed by Robin Book provided by Edelweiss for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book This is not your ordinary story of shape shifters. Oh don’t get me wrong it has all the basic elements but it goes so much further. If you have trouble dealing with things like rape, incest, child abuse, and spousal abuse this may not be an easy book for you to get through. I know that I had to step aside a couple of times to deal with something else before going back to the story. Ms. Gideon takes us into the world of the Terriot Clan which is from Nevada. At first I wasn’t sure what type of shape shifter but after reading further I am assuming they are werewolves as that seems to be the implied shifter in the story. The clan is led by Patriarch Bram, father of twelve sons/princes all by different women. Bram the Patriarch stops at nothing to get his point across to the others. He even goes as far as rape. Ruling with an Iron Hand he has pitted his sons together so that they don’t trust each other. This story is about one of his younger sons that happen to live with him, Cale. Cale and Kendra have been friends since they were children. Kendra was heartbroken when things happen as a young child. It pulled her and Cale apart. Because of Bram’s violence toward her family she was taken from the compound and eventually brought back (not sure of the reason or how) to become a princess and marry one of the sons so that they may be the next ruler’s. Because of the complexities of the storyline and the emotional involvement some things tend to get lost within the story. Kendra is still a virgin which is a hot commodity. Cale wants her for himself and declares that he will mate with her. Kendra has become skeptical as he seems to be allot like his father which isn’t good. It scares her. Even though they both remember how they loved each other as children it is still there under the surface of all that is going on. They are there for each other as they go through things together which only makes their bond to each other stronger. There are many touching scenes in the story that helped to get through some of the tough parts. There were some very endearing love scenes, which span time. Hot and steamy sex was jumping off the pages. Overall I enjoyed this story. This is the first of Ms. Gideon’s Moonlight series that I have read. Having said that, I will say that had I read the first group some questions that I had within the actual story would probably have been answered. Like the type of shifters that the Terriot Clan was. I felt that the characters could have been better put together. For instance Kendra had a tendency to be a little contradicting when I felt she should have been a little stronger and braver. She also seemed too naïve for someone in her later 20’s. Cale on the other hand was so arrogant that it seemed unreal almost a malicious arrogance. But then there were times he slipped as he tended to be very loving and caring toward Kendra and his mother then he would fly off the handle and become very hurtful. This I guess stems from being raised by his father. Although some of the storyline seemed weak and was at times hard to get through because of the topic matter I found it to be a story that makes you wants to go and read the others in the series to find out about why each brother is the way he is. For the most part it was a good story and has appeal to it. I think that I will try to read the others and I look forward to more from Ms. Gideon.

This book was terrible! I've never asked for a refund on a book before, but I got one for this book. I absolutely hated the protagonists. The heroine especially was so weak and wimpy that it was impossible to like her. The characters seemed completely oblivious of danger and deceit, too, despite their circumstances. Sometimes that lack of knowledge builds suspense, but here it was so obvious that the characters just seemed stupid.

The fourth eBook in Nancy Gideon's steamy Shadows paranormal romance series is out. Prince of shadows was released on May 27th and boy is it a keeper. While this was my first book of the Shadows series, it won't be my last. If you haven't read previous books from the series, don't worry this book transitions you in and you get just enough background to catch up to the plot. The story is about Kendra and Cale Terriot, and soon to be Leader of the House of Terriot shape shifters. Kendra is held hostage by a Cale's barbaric dictating father the clan leader. She is forced to choose one of his treacherous and evil sons as her mate to unite their clans. Kendra must play a careful courtship game when choosing among the dangerous Shifter heirs, as she waits for rescue. As a Prince in the House of Terriot, Cale knows he can be the leader his clan needs with Kendra at his side. He has loved her since they played together as children. But Kendra has seen his father murder her parents, and she believes him to be just as cruel and brutal. Kale wants to show Kendra his love and prove to her that he can be the man she desires, but in a treacherous competition for the crown, and future princess, any show of weakness means surrendering his throne and even death. He struggles to find a way to win her heart, which also could mean letting her go to the one he thinks she loves. Givens does a great job of making a believable plot with modern day settings mixed with just a bit of supernatural. The result is believable and not too much sci fi or fantasy . I loved the way she developed the plot and it had a great twist to the end that brought it all together in an unexpected ending. While a few times it seemed like she was trying to go back and add in background details and got a bit off track, the story was great, the characters were charming and it kept my interest through over 384 pages (wow!!) I had to stop reading just as I got to the last 5 pages, and I the book was so good I almost decided to skip PTA meeting. I couldn't wait to get back to it!! Watch out J. R. Ward, this author could definitely give you a run for your money!! I had the same "I can't wait to see what's next as I get when I read Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Which also has a new release coming out soon. For more honest reviews, interviews and information please visit our blog "The Romance Reader's Bookshelf." This book rates 4 out of 5 hearts. Steam Index is 3 out of 5 drops. A free copy of this book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson: *eARC provided by Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review I think this might be my favorite book of the series. Don't get me wrong, I've loved Max and the gang, but there was just something about this installment that grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I actually think I know what it was... I read & enjoy Paranormal Romance a lot, but I always tend to gravitate back to Urban Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror, and Thriller, and quite frankly, the darker the better. This installment of the Moonlight series was definitely darker, grittier, more dangerous, and had a plot rife with twists... and I simply loved it! Cale Terriot, or hero, is completely caught up in the dark world of his father's making as possible heir to the Terriot throne. While deep in his heart he yearns for so much more, he does what must be done, no matter how grave.  Kendra loved Cale as a child, but after her family was destroyed she blames the family for her loss and fears that Cale has turned into his father... or worse. The Prince of Shadows tale is all about Cale playing a very dangerous game - trying to prove his love to Kendra, while keeping up appearances with his father and family - all the while just trying to stay alive. It kept me on the edge of my seat and was deliciously entertaining. LITERAL ADDICTION gives Prince of Shadows 5 Skulls. While I do suggest reading the entire MOONLIGHT series, Prince of Shadows easily stands well on its own as a great read.

Cale Terriot wants something more from his life but he is caught up in the power struggles, machinations and violence of his father’s making. He dreams of his childhood friend Kendra but to have her as his mate he must fight off his unmated siblings.  Kendra’s family has been destroyed by Bram, leaving her in the hands of the Terriots. She loved Cale as a child but now she sees a ruthless wolf, just like his father. Cale must convince Kendra of his true intentions while keeping a strong appearance so that he isn’t destroyed or killed by his own family. Weakness means death. Can he prove his love or will he make the ultimate sacrifice. Prince of Shadows is not your happy shifter love story. It is a dark tale of abuse, rape, murder, and violence all governed by a sick and twisted alpha and father to the Terriot heirs, Bram. The plot is cut throat and raw with disturbing infighting and agonizing decisions. A vivid tale of a young shifter fighting for a new life out of the darkness he was born heir. Cale was arrogant, somewhat mean hearted and extremely conflicted. Kendra is ignorant but brave. I found a few of the plots directions open ended with no obvious answers for closure. I did enjoyed this story and in the end it proves that true love can be the catalyst to change. This ARC copy of Prince of Shadows was given to me by Pocket Star in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication on May 27, 2013.

Prince of Shadows is a enthralling story that captivates the reader with intrigue, betrayal, love, power, sacrifice, and loyalty. Kendra is essentially a prisoner in the House of Terroit that is being forced to choose a mate from the Kings three sons. Kendra treads the lines of a dangerous game herself safe and to prolong her time to choose. Then Cale arrives. He has always had feelings for Kendra, but he knows that in order to win her he must become the man that she needs. The chemistry between Kendra and Cale is electrifying. The more they are around each other, the more the connection grows. Will Cale be able to convince Kendra to be his mate, his Queen. Or will he have to sacrifice everything to show her his love? Nancy Gideon has truly written a wonderful story that sheds a new light on shape shifters. The world that she has built is truly magnificent! You can practically feel the Louisiana heat and hear the symphony of bugs at night! There are many characters involved in this story. You will come to love some, and come to hate some, but all of them are well rounded and fit their role completely. For fans of this series, sink back in and see what happens next, if you are new to the Moonlight world then be prepared to get sucked in! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
