I liked this book but I thought the ending could have been a lot better. The hero was to forgiving of his cousin and the last few chapters were a little on the weak side. This book could have really played up the villan more. I did apprciate the fact that the heroine wasn't a naive idiot as most are. She just made one critical mistake (I won't spoil it) and her brother was really annoying me by focusing more on her attitude than her whereabouts. All in all it was good though.

Even as a little girl, the vain Lady Jocelyn Shelton expected to marry a prince. Now in 1819 as a debutante, anyone of a lesser rank is just not good enough for the conceited Jocelyn. As the diamond of the current season, Jocelyn sets her sights on Crown Prince Alexei Pruzinksy of Greater Avalonia. She is so sure of her abilities, she expects Alexei to propose and thus accepts an unchaperoned rendezvous with him. However, Alexei fails to meet her, but instead two assassins believe she has seen and overheard their plot to murder the Prince.

The two killers want Jocelyn dead, but Viscount Rand Beaumont, assigned to keep Alexei safe, vows to protect her. To do that, he needs her out of London and entrenched in a safe house until the thugs are stopped. However, he cannot escort a single young woman by himself unless he marries her. To Jocelyn, life is meaningless with a mere viscount even if she reacts to his regal kisses.

THE PRINCE'S BRIDE is an entertaining historical romance once the readers moves past Jocelyn¿s princely requirement. Rand is a hunk of a hero and surprisingly readers will ultimately find the lead female protagonist smart and charming. The support cast provides humor or tension depending on their role, but all enhance the relationship between Jocelyn and Rand. Sub-genre fans will relish Victoria Alexander¿s warm tale.

Lady Jocelyn Shelton grew up with very little money. At the young age of ten she made a heart felt and detailed wish about her future ...

Lady Jocelyn was the incomparable of the Season. She stepped away from a crowded ball thinking she was meeting Prince Alexei, of Avalonia, to (she thought) accept a marriage proposal. Instead she found herself overhearing a threat toward His Highness! The two men though Jocelyn had seen their faces and needed her killed. (Very few knew how near-sighted she was.)

Viscount Randall Beaumont had been asked by his cousin, Prince Alexei to look into a matter involving his security. He ended up rescuing Jocelyn. For her safety, he would take her to his Uncle's home. To do so without ruining her reputation, they were forced to wed first. Neither wanted to marry the other, but both would make the best of it.

Fate brought the two soul mates together and not even the Crowned Prince of Avalonia could tear them apart!

***** Absolutely astounding! In my opinion, this is one of the top books of the year! 'A Keeper' and very highly recommended! *****

THIS IS A MUCH BETTER BOOK THAN OTHERS OF THIS AUTHOR. THE SENSUAL WRITING(S) ON THE HUMOROUS SIDE-- SOMETHING YOU DON'T USUALLY FIND IN THESE BOOKS. THE ONLY REASON I DIDN'T GIVE THIS A 5TH STAR WAS THE ENDING WAS RUSHED--THE VILLAINS WERE RUSHED THROUGH THE LAST FEW PAGES AND COULD HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED MORE.
