Overview

Princess Ben by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

Benevolence is not your typical princess and Princess Ben is certainly not your typical fairy tale. With her parents lost to unknown assassins, Princess Ben ends up under the thumb of the conniving Queen Sophia, who is intent on marrying her off to the first available "specimen of imbecilic manhood." Starved and miserable, locked in the castle's highest tower, Ben stumbles upon a mysterious enchanted room. So begins her secret education in the magical arts: mastering an obstinate flying broomstick, furtively emptying the castle pantries, setting her hair on fire... But Ben's private adventures are soon overwhelmed by a mortal threat facing the castle and indeed the entire country. Can Princess Ben save her kingdom from annihilation and herself from permanent enslavement?

When I first saw the book I thought "This looks stupid" But when I bought it and actually read it I LOVED it!! It is full of MAGIC and ROMANCE.

This was an insanely good book! First of all, the writing style is great (and very refreshing!), Ben is a very real princess, and the plot was very unique. It's great to read about a princess who's not the winner of every single beauty contest in the world, but is actually a lot prettier than everyone thinks. In fact, I adored that aspect of this book so much that it inspired me to write something similar! (But not too similar)

In this book you will find true love. I hope that everyone in this world can find what Ben did and have it continue. This boook brought tears to my eyes. See I'm crying so hard I cant spell! I<3 this book :D

This book brought my back to all the good old fairytales that people used to write. It was simple and yet interesting . A twist on the regular sleeping beauty it surprised me in the end. Some parts in the book are - I will admit - weird but this book reminded me of Ella Enchanted and some of my other favorites. With all of the mixed reviews on this book I would suggest reading it at the library before buying it. I really enjoyed it though !

Catherine chose words that are above average for the everyday English language, and describes things so good in this books I can see it crystal clear in my head, so she's talentd with word choice. The book is very good and is not what I expected it to be, with a twisted plot, a magical princess, and a complex relationship between two people and two countries. A good book by far.

This book is simply amazing. I had read a couple of bad reviews about this novel before I read it, so I wasn't quite sure if I would like it or not, but this book blew my expectations out of the water and into space. I had thought that it was just going to be another typical book about a girl rising above the odds to achieve a nearly impossible goal, but this book is definitely unique. It has romance, tragedy, humor, danger, and words that grip your heart and make it impossible for you to think about anything else. Thank you, Catherine Gilbert Murdock, for this amazing book!

I got the free sample but the sample was of a different book yet the cover in my libary is the right book. I'm so confused has this happened to anyone else? I have read this story once before and wanted to get it, but i'm worried that i will get the wrong book if i try to buy it.

So far this story has been a great experince for my mind and imagation. This twisting tale is about a young girl who wants freedom and wants to be her own person and have the power to make her own desions. Ben seeks freedom in the wonderful tale of Princess Ben.
