This is a good read and even has a few clever jokes that not everyone will see. An oddly light companion to the decidedly dark paladin of shadows books.

Okay the whole housewife goes on an adventure thing is not new... however, Ringo gives an old plot a new twist with this housewife. Another review compared Barbara to Buffy... I agree. Ringo puts in a Christian touch that was really cool. He explores our spiritual paths and highlights the similarities Barbara is definately NOT you typical Church Lady. She "talks" about Christian values like the real thing and can kick some serious ... It was interesting to read on an intellectual and sociological level. I love books that leave me thinking ... and this one most def. has.

Interesting but it would have been nice if on the back of the book or somewhere I could have known religion was the main theme of this book. Good versus evil is a universal theme but most SF-F doesn't preach as much. First Ringo book I've read, I'll approach others with a grain of salt.

Mississippi mom and loving spouse Barbara Everett believes she lives the perfect Christian life, but needs a break from domestic tranquility. However she never expected that time off would lead her to battle alien invaders using her Kung Fu skills. Though she works quietly, her efforts are noticed by a top secret group that handles supernatural cases for the FBI. This shadowy law enforcement team hires Barbara to join their spiritual squad. --- She soon finds herself working a paranormal case at a science fiction convention where a necromancer kills geeks, fans and writers in order to employ the brainless in a nefarious localized take over the convention scheme. --- Finally, Barbara visits nearby Gulfport, Mississippi to dine on Cajun food. However, instead she teams up with New Orleans Homicide Detective Sergeant Kelly Lockhart on stopping a demonic serial rape murderer the Bayou Ripper. --- All in the life of a soccer mom turned paranormal crime fighter. --- Though more like three related novellas, PRINCESS OF WANDS is a fantastic fantasy starring a wonderful heroine who just wanted a bit of excitement in her too perfect life and learned that sometimes you get what you prayed for. The interrelated tales are amusing, filled with action (some tongue in cheek), and contain a message that good always defeats evil. John Ringo is at his best with this strong Christian based fantasy that delivers its significant point through the adventures of the PRINCESS OF WANDS. --- Harriet Klausner

Top ranked Military SF writer, John Ringo has released a fascinating new book. I got a chance to read the the 1st half of the book, months before publication, and it is great. The heroine is a highly religious, Christian wife and mother, who needs a break from being a soccer mom. She goes alone on a weekend trip to Gulfport, Mississippi for real Cajun food and gets lost. During her travels she runs into a New Orleans detective, a serial rape murder case, and a major demon. YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK.
