PROFILE: Social Media #5 by JA Huss

All the best fairytale princesses have the most horrific pasts. Mine just happens to be more horrific than most.

Fantasizing over Vaughn Asher was a dream. Meeting Vaughn Asher was a fairytale. Loving Vaughn Asher was my downfall.

The past is always there. Waiting. Waiting to expose you. Waiting to ruin you. Waiting to take you back.

Sometimes not even a prince can save you.

Wow…. I never expected this series to go in this direction when I started it… I absolutely Love Vaughn and Grace. I did not think they could go through so many trying experiences within such a short amount of time knowing each other as they have. Even tho I have loved Grace and Vaughn romance from day one, Grace is a yes girl expect when it comes to Vaughn. She’s drives me a little crazy sometimes on how back and forth she can be when it comes to him. With reading Status and Profile, hearing Grace’s story and seeing what she actually lived through, I understand more of why she is the way she is with Vaughn, or she would be with any man. Grace shows her strong, kiss ass side, you will not take me down. She will fight till the end or die trying. Felicity is Vaughn’s rock, she never lets him down with her hacking skills. With the classes she’s been taking in criminal justice and psychology she is the one person who can help him in this moment. I’m glad he has her, and his brother Conner steps it up and is there for him when he needs him when he has shown himself to be kind of a pain in the a** in the past. Profile has brought everyone together.. “I am in love.” I let a breath. “I love this girl. I’m gonna marry her again and get her pregnant, and spend the rest of my life bossing her ass around and pissing her off. She likes it. But she also likes to fight it.”

I'm already a fan of J.A. Huss' writing, and this new series does not disappoint. I have to admit that I am not a fan of waiting for the next book in a series or serial to be published (or the marketing ploy). I  was happy to find that although the titles in the series are based on social media, the story is not written in "tweet"/"wall post" format.  J.A. Huss does know how to create interesting characters and keep readers riveted as she reveals all their secrets. I loved the character development in Follow, the first of six books. Grace and Vaughn are a mixed bag of all-messed-up, and when they  meet the fireworks start. Ms. Huss made me want to like them but not quite be able to. I vacillated between being riveted and disgusted  by the choices they made. I am looking forward to reading more about these damaged souls, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for an  eventual, redemptive HEA. New thoughts after finishing the series: I enjoy JA Huss’ writing. I’ve read many of her books more than once, so signing on for all the pre-orders of this series was not something  I was going to pass up. I did wait until the entire series was published before I started reading, and I am really happy with that decision  since it is a page turner that kept me up late each night reading until I finished. Huss is the master of outwardly strong but truly fragile and damaged female characters who eventually come into their own. Her men  are a beautiful blend of machismo and tenderness. Grace and Vaughn are perfect examples. Grace is strong and weak at the same time.  Vaughn attempts to protect his public image and shield his preferences from gossip mongers by awkwardly acting the BDSM Dom replete  with contracts and NDAs; while he takes care of his partners financially, the commitment-phobe leaves them (and himself) high and dry  emotionally. The interjections of hashtag comments, social media banter and faux pas was a fabulous injection of humor. The depiction of the lavish  lifestyle of Hollywood royalty was mind blowing. The segue between books four and five was excellent. The loose inclusion of characters  from her other series is fun for long-time fans. For the overall series, the plot was compelling. The pace of the story and character  development were perfect. My one disappointment was the uncharacteristic number of typographical errors. Some will see Follow (Social Media #1) as demeaning but it is all about the character introduction and plot set up. If you’re new to  JA Huss’ writing, you may not like or even finish Follow (If you are new to this author, you might want to start with her Rook & Ronin  series to appreciate her writing). You really have to read the entire Social Media series to appreciate the ride. Is it totally redemptive?  I’m not telling. Is there an HEA? You’ll have to read all six books to find out. Is it a standard romance? Definitely not. There is a strong  romance aspect to it, but what Huss does really well is thriller/suspense with a romance parallel.

If you love books that keep you on the edge of your seat, and your heart pounding, you seriously need to read this series! Profile definitely had those qualities (the whole series does really) You are constantly yelling at your reader "What the heck? What the heck?" but totally worth all the minor heart attacks you have while reading :) You get to really find out what happened to Grace when she was younger and it's quite heartbreaking. Though she started to piss me off in the last couple of books, you begin to understand where she was coming from in Profile. Why she always kept people at a distance. Then there is Vaughn, OMG poor Vaughn. You really get to see how deep his feelings go for Grace. Though he has crap coming at him from all different angles, he is constantly worried for Grace and is in a desperate need to find her. Will Vaughn be able to find Grace and save her from her past? Or will she be broken beyond repair this time around? I'm seriously in love with this series and can't wait to see how it ends when Home comes out. JA Huss has really out done herself with this series! Though I love all of her books, I think this series is one of my favorites!

I think the reason I don't write my review right away is because it's hard not to give away information. I will say this, we get answers. I need Home: Social Media 6 like right now. JA Huss, you have done an awesome job with this series, I've been so excited waiting for these books to come out every two weeks, now that it's coming to an end, I'll hands to find something else to read. I read this book in about 2 hours.

My heart is pounding. A have this huge lump in my throat. It's hard to swallow. My vision is blurry from crying so hard. What a motherf**kin ride!! My emotions have f**king whiplash. I don't think there is anything to say or how anyone cannot see how much of a motherf**king genius JA Huss is. F**king brilliant. The anticipation, the fear, the mystery and the f**king suspense will have and keep you trapped. Trapped in the world that is Vaughn and Grace. The minute this hit my kindle at midnight, I f**king dove right in. The ending of Book four had me pulling at my f**king hair and I almost wanted to cry because I had to wait two weeks to find out what happened. Well...it was so worth the wait. So f**king worth the wait. Bravo Ms. Huss! Bravo!!! I was already a fan from book one but now I'm a motherf**kin fan forever!! I love everything about this serial. The story line is absolute perfection. The story flows so effortlessly. The characters are so amazingly written and developed as the story unfolds. Grace is strong, and fierce and determined to not become a victim. Her courage and bravery had me crying and rooting for her. Vaughn is in love and will not let anyone or anything get in his way when it comes to Grace. He loves her deeply and my heart melts more and more for him. I love him hard!! This is a definite must read and I can't wait to read the next installment, which will be the last. It's bittersweet. I'm not sure I'm ready to end this journey with Vaughn and Grace. But I know one thing for damn sure...my journey with JA Huss does not end with this serial.

Whoa! Profile was an edge of your seat, adrenaline pumping ride. I felt the same anxiety Vaughn was feeling as the clock was ticking. And the twists - my god, the twists! It seems it's all been leading up to this - but JA isn't done with us yet. Profile is definitely the most thrilling in the series so far. Grace's past has caught up with her. And it's a race against time to save her. Vaughn is desperate and not getting much help. Grace, though, is not the same girl she was when she was 13. We've seen her strength in earlier installments but in Profile, she proves her mettle. Vaughn, too, proved even more that he's in this for the long haul. Y'all know I love JA Huss. She is such a talented storyteller. And the suspense/thriller element she weaves into her stories is always...well, thrilling. With this series, she leads you one way. She lets you think you know exactly what's going on. You don't. Well, maybe you can figure out a few things, but nothing is ever exactly how you think it'll be. I'm extremely eager for the last installment - to see how the twists untwist and to see how Grace and Vaughn's fairytale shakes out.

We are coming down the home stretch in JA Huss’ Social Media series. PROFILE is part 5 of 6. It’s the shortest of all six installments, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that nothing happens in it. On the contrary – Profile is a total mind screw, both for the characters and the reader. It’s a study in strength – strength of character, of loyalty, of trust, of love. Profile puts the exclamation point on the series as a whole Grace is gone, and to the outside world, it appears she left on her own when the media attention became too much. But, Vaughn is convinced she’s back in the hell she was in ten years earlier. And, now the clock is ticking. Either Vaughn needs to find her or Grace needs to get out right away, or the outcome this time around will be far different and far worse than it was the first time this happened. I’ve alluded in previous reviews of the Social Media books to a tragic event in Grace’s past that has shaped the woman she’s become. The full impact of that event is felt in Profile as things come full circle and Grace has to deal with the same situation again. But, even though the events are the same, Grace is not. She’s ten years older and ten years wiser, and now she has the gift of hindsight. She knows what happened last time and how to use that to her advantage now. The thing is, I, personally, think that most of Grace’s current strength comes from Vaughn. If the events in Profile had happened to her before she had met him, I don’t know if the outcome would’ve been the same. Just knowing him and knowing that he loves her and that there’s someone out there to survive for gives Grace so much more motivation, even if it’s not a wholly conscious thing. She might not sit there and say, “I’m going to make it through this because of Vaughn,” but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s true. Grace’s courage under fire made my heart burst. She was put in the worst situation possible, and then once in it, circumstances come to light that make it even more awful. And, yet, her resolve never falters and her brain never shuts off. If it was possible for me to love Vaughn Asher more than I did after Status, it’s evident in Profile. That man… just, wow. He never gives up. Ever. Not on Grace or on their relationship or on the possibilities for the future he’s always wanted. People told him that Grace was done and she left him. The strength of Vaughn’s loyalty and love for Grace denies him the moment to even consider that possibility. Events certainly come to a head in Profile. There’s tons of action and ridiculous amounts of suspense that I promise will keep you engrossed in this book from the very beginning until you finish it. Make sure you map out a good hour or two of your time, because you’re not going to want to put it down. I know it seems nuts, after the first few books in this series, but there is absolutely zero sex in Profile. None. In fact, Grace and Vaughn are only physically in the same vicinity as one another for a very short portion of the book. That doesn’t lessen this book’s impact one iota. In fact, I think Profile is the most powerful book in the series so far.
