Jared Thomas has lived in the mountain town of Coda, Colorado his whole life. He can’t imagine living anywhere else. But Jared’s opportunities are limited—the only other gay man in town is twice his age, and although Jared originally planned to be a teacher, the backlash that might accompany the gig keeps him working at his family’s store instead. Then Matt Richards moves to town. Matt may not be into guys, but he doesn’t care that Jared is. A summer camping and mountain biking together cements their friendship, but when Matt realizes he’s attracted to Jared, he panics and withdraws, leaving Jared all too aware of what he’s missing. Facing Matt’s affair with a local woman, his disapproving family, and harassment from Matt’s coworkers, Jared fears they’ll never find a way to be together. But for the first time, he has the courage to try… if he can only convince Matt. Meant to BeJared has simple goals for his freshman year of college: make friends, lose his virginity, come out, and maybe fall in love. He doesn’t anticipate getting caught between his friend Bryan and Bryan’s flamboyant ex. Through the awkwardness, Jared learns love doesn’t always mean sex and the most meaningful connections might have nothing to do with romance.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I just finished reading it, and I already want to start on her next one! The relationship between Jared and Matt starts so innocently at first, and then evolves into one of trust, sacrifice, love, and commitment. If you're looking for a book all about sex...this isn't it. There are some steamy scenes, however it doesn't get overly graphic. Trust me, you WON'T be disappointed.

I am a very big proponent of character development and this book did not disappoint. The chemistry between Jared and Matt kept me so emotionally involved I felt I needed to keep reading until the end. Beautifully written story, one definitely worth reading over and over again.

This is an easy going story, with good dialogue and a engaging plot. It's short but nothing seems missing from the story and the romance is sweet and takes it's time to development. Nothing seems rushed. It's simple but it's entertaining. If you're a fan of GLBT I'd recommend it.

I've read a glut of m/m books lately and I have to say this is so much better than most of them. Lots rely on tricks - he's an assassin or a werewolf or so other and strange... but here, it's just two guys, people you meet in your day to day life, one a cop, one works in the family store. They live in a regular small town, not full of charming and twee characters, or mad eccentrics. But their story, their personal drama, it's gripping. The risk that Matt takes, the love that Jared has, it feels real and palpable. They meet some homophobia, but it's their inner demons that they really have to conquer. I really enjoyed Marie Sexton's writing, I liked her town, her descriptions of the mountains, her descriptions of extended family but mainly I really liked spending time with her protagonists, and showing how love made them grow. It's a keeper and she's a writer to look out for.

This is a cute story of two guys discovering who they are and enjoying their fiendship dispite what others say.

So well written. The characters were realistic as well as their actions and emotions. Sometimes m/m stories tend to be too fast pass with instant love and characters coming to terms with life altering events and changes without much struggle. Sometimes that's nice & works depending on the type of story, but for a contemporary story like this a slow burn & struggle is so much more satisfying . I look forward to reading more in the series.

this is a terrific romance of two strong characters. both are hiding from their own sexuality in the ways that we have of being terrified or ashamed and it affects their relationship more than once, even as they move towards recognizing how deep the relationship could grow. it's a believable story, with passion, sex, and characters who actually make mistakes and live with the consequences. strongly recommend this book and its companion. wish this author would put out more.
