About the Author

I grew up in the Mountains of Montana and have lived on a ranch for half of this life here on planet earth. I am blessed to live with a wonderful wife and several four-legged furry friends. Between flying the friendly skies and traversing the rugged mountains, life has been a constant, wonderful adventure.

Who are we and why are we here? How did this world that we live in come into existence? The Bible may shed some light on these issues, but is there even more to it? What happened all those eons ago to put all of what we know into motion? Who or what is God? Life is a gift and I plan to use mine to get to the bottom of some of these age-old questions.

It was this verse in the Bible, Genesis 6:4, that fueled the fire in me to pursue some answers and continues to be a passion of mine to this day. The only thing I can say for sure is there appears to be fingerprints everywhere I look of something much greater.

Reviewed by Ray Simmons for Readers' Favorite I grew up reading the Bible. My mom is a librarian and a devout Christian so me reading the Bible was inevitable. I found the Bible fascinating. Don’t tell my mom, but I find all mythology fascinating. There are many memorable verses in the Bible, but I can clearly remember the day I read this one: “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.” This verse intrigued me. When I saw it at the very beginning of Proof: The Novel by Ted D. Berner, I knew I had to read this book. I am very glad that I did. The protagonist reads this verse and asks himself some of the same questions I asked myself when I first read it. But instead of just thinking about the answers, he goes out and begins serious research to find the answers. Ty Larson is a very likable protagonist. I like that he is a Christian, but is also educated and open-minded. Ty is the kind of guy that, when he finds the answer, people will believe it. He reminded me of my younger self sincerely wanting to find out what this verse means. The plot is great. It lured me in and then went logically step by step to the conclusion. Proof: The Novel is a detective story, a mystery, and an adventure. Ted D. Berner writes well and you can feel his passion for the subject on every page. I liked it much better than any of the Dan Brown novels I have read.

Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days-and also afterward-when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. This verse peaks Ty Larson’s interest and decides to research this verse for a school paper. The more he researches the more he learns about an ancient civilization that was more advanced than anything we knew about but has been forgotten to time. Ty travels the world finding different locations that relate to this civilization and learning about our own forgotten history. But Ty is not the only one searching for this civilization and not everyone has good intentions for the knowledge. I really enjoyed this story. I love all the information that you learn about. You can tell that there was a lot of research put into this book. I honestly have never thought about this verse more than a cursory reading, but I love how this book takes a simple verse and turns it into reality. This is book one and it does end on a cliffhanger. But the second book should be out soon. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next. I received Proof the Novel from the author for free. This has in no way influenced my opinion of this book.

Proof the Novel by Ted D. Berner is a suspenseful mystery based on a quote from the Bible about giants living on earth. Having to take only one more class to graduate, Ty Larson meets a beautiful woman who is about to enroll in an archaeology class. Thinking he would like to know her better, he also enrolls in the class and then gets sucked by the possibility of there having been giants roaming the earth. As he researches the topic, Ty meets strange people and realizes that he is being manipulated, but to what cause? Unfortunately, the book leaves us with more questions that answers. Who is manipulating Ty? Why is he "special?" What will happen to Ty and his father? Will the conspirators unleash an evil force into the world and if so, will Ty be able to change the outcome? To get the answer you have to purchase the sequel. The premise of Proof the Novel is interesting but the pace is slow and somewhat repetitive, especially in the first half of the novel. As the mystery develops the story becomes more exciting. I would have preferred to see this installment tightened and the mysteries resolved without the cliffhanger and the need to buy the second book. If you don't mind reading a story in two installments, you might enjoy Proof the Novel.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept my attention and made me wonder where Ty was going to end up. I didn't anticipate that it would take him around the world! I think it would be cool to go to all the sites where Ty went because they are all real! I read it in two days and left me thinking about the facts. Why are there so many interested in what he finds? Left me thinking for weeks, what it all means! What a great book! Cannot wait to see me where it takes me next! Good job Mr. Berner!

Fascinating and thought provoking. Interesting writing at it's best. Raises so many questions as to the how and the why of our existence. You will find yourself asking “Can this be true?” throughout the book which may send you on a fact checking quest on Google. A fun read and a great story. I could easily see this making it's way to the big screen. Brilliant!!

I have to admit that I was skeptical about buying a novel from an unknown author, but I can honestly say that I was extremely pleasantly surprised. After reading the synopsis, which is what sold me on the book, I surmised that Proof the Novel was going to be a Da Vinci Code type mystery and I’m happy to say I wasn’t disappointed at all! The fact that the author used real historical facts and Biblical accounts along with legends from around the world mixed into the plot kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entirety of the book. I have no doubt that this will make it to the big screen and can easily give the work a 5 star rating. If you liked the Da Vinci Code or Indiana Jones, you’ll love Proof the Novel!

Berner writes an abundant mystery beginning to end. What puzzles me is that we don’t know the truth in life…so much has been hidden, swept under the rug or labeled as nonsense. The novel is hard to put down and riddled with details such as Lovelock Cave for which if googled proves to be factual. Perhaps the book will stir up some of your unanswered questions and bring to light that which we all seek…Proof.
