Prophecies and Prophetic Promises from the Doctrine and Covenants
Prophecies and promises of the Lord are numerous in the Doctrine and Covenants. In this book, 105 of them are presented in fifty subject areas. The author, a recognized authority and experienced teacher of the Doctrine and Covenants, has declared the purpose of this new book is to "bring to the reader, from one facet-prophecy, the truth that the Doctrine and Covenants is the word of the Lord." This treatment of the prophecies and prophetic promises provides analytical reading of the many subjects presented. He gives uniform attention to each subject. First, the prophecy or prophetic promise is presented with its background. Then he analyzes the contents before presenting evidences of fulfillment. To bring the prophecy to the reader's full understanding the author ends each chapter with an "application" of the prophecy. This book was written primarily for the benefit of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the hope that it will reaffirm for them the truth that Joseph Smith, the first Prophet of the Church, received revelations from God. It should also prove of considerable interest to those not members of the Church as they study the validity of Mormonism.
