About the Author

Heather Sunseri is a recovering CPA who began writing novels in order to escape the mundane life as bored-to-death accountant. After twenty years in the corporate world, Heather decided to use her business savvy and curious mind to start a publishing business anchored by fiction. Author of sixteen novels to date, Heather writes smart, sexy thrillers with happy (for now) endings. Too old to become an FBI agent, she pretends to be on in the tales she spins.

WITNESS PROTECTION FAIL. 3.5 stars. Protected In Darkness is the sequel to Cut in Darkness (the second book in the In Darkness series). If you have read the second book of the In Darkness (Cut In Darkness) it helps you understand the background of the main character Kate/Charley. But this book can be read as a standalone. There is violence and sex. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. The main characters in this sequel are not the usual ones in the main In Darkness series. This is an "insta-love" love story that I usually don't like. But in this one I easily got caught up in the emotions of the characters and story. There are twists and turns in the book to keep you guessing.

As with every other title in the In Darkness series it’s filled with tension, action, and emotional drama. Having already been a fan of the series, I love the opportunity to see this character get her happily-ever-after. The chemistry between Kate and Colt is instant and electric. I’ve always loved a hero in uniform, so Colt was an automatic favorite for me. I spent a large part of the book wondering how on earth Kate could resist this noble military man. At no time has Kate’s life been easy, and the point where Colt walks into it is no different. In fact, this might be the hardest time she’s ever had to face. At it’s simplest, this is good triumphing over evil, but there’s also truths about love, trust, and second chances. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
