I like women, and I like adventure. I always have. The last thing I want to do is settle down with the girl next door and live a boring, domestic life. So I have no idea what I'm doing here, posing as a first-grade teacher.
It's the most ridiculous undercover security job I've ever had to work. Corralling a bunch of six-year-olds while I try to do my job and keep anyone from knowing how clueless I really am. I manage to fool everyone. Except Kristin.

She's an actual teacher, and she's determined to find out what I'm really doing here. She doesn't trust me, and her daughter doesn't like me.  And the worst part is that I'm starting to like them. A lot.

So now, instead of being the tough guy, I'm stuck with rowdy children and Christmas pageants and falling in love. It's not the way I thought I'd spend Christmas.

Protecting the Girl Next Door was originally published as Forever Bound. It has since been expanded, revised, and re-edited.

After being very happy with the first two books, this one disappointed me. There was little meaningful dialogue between the characters and lots of time thinking about the relationship apart. But I was most surprised at the lack of character development (which was there in the first two). Kristen is a widow mother and Declan was a marine. Nothing else was told, no interests, if they have parents/siblings, friends, nothing. Made the book flat and hard to finish.

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book in The Protectors series. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Declan and Kristin . I love how Declan went from a hard man to a softy as a teacher,as a father figure, and as a family man. Another home run from Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams. You are easily pulled into this series and are thoroughly entertained from the first page to the last.

Declan is a "guys guy" he likes the adrenaline rush and living the single life. There was a moment of panic when he was told he had to go undercover as a first grade teacher. He had his work cut out for him with one of his students and her mom, Kristen making this assignment harder on him. In high school Declan was torn between the girl next door and the bad girl now he had found himself the perfect combination in Kristen. They say that when you find the one you want to become a better man for her and this is the case in this story. He goes through tremendous amounts of growth throughout the story that made me love him even more.

A story that I could not put down. Loved taking a man out of element and putting him in as a first grade teacher! Declan is posing as a first grade teacher, while protecting a little girl. Another student, Lily has wrapped him around his little finger, while her mom, Kristen is also a teacher at the school does not trust him. Kristen, first husband died and she has been busy raising Lily, no time for romance. But whats wrong with a little fun as long as you don't bring your heart into it! Loved these characters!! Lily stole the story, such a cutie. Great chemistry between Declan and Kristen. The dynamic writing duo stole my heart again. I highly recommend this story.

: 3.75 stars--PROTECTING THE GIRL NEXT DOOR is the third installment the contemporary, adult THE PROTECTORS erotic, romance series co-authored by Samantha Chase and Noelle Adams focusing on best friends and former Marines Levi, Cole, Declan and Sebastian who co-own and operate a private security company. This is primary school teacher and widow Kristin Andrews, and former Marine/security specialist Declan Curtis’s story line. PROTECTING THE GIRL NEXT DOOR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary. NOTE: PROTECTING THE GIRL NEXT DOOR is the re-release of the previously titled 2014 release Forever Bound Told from dual first person points of view (Declan and Kristin) PROTECTING THE GIRL NEXT DOOR follows the building relationship between Declan Curtis, and primary school teacher Kristin Andrews. Declan’s latest security assignment finds our hero ‘playing’ teacher to a first grade class of privileged children. When a young girl is threatened by her estranged mother, Declan is hired to protect the six year old from any possible attempts at abduction or to her life. Meeting fourth grade teacher, and widow Kristin Andrews shakes our hero to his core but Kristin isn’t looking for a relationship, and the sudden death of her Navy SEAL husband has left our heroine a little shaken and depressed. What ensues is the friends with benefits relationship that turns into something more but a threat to Declan’s life forces Kristen to push the man with whom she is falling in love-out of her life. PROTECTING THE GIRL NEXT DOOR is a quick read; a fast paced, story of romance between two primary school teachers who fall in love thanks to the help of a little six year old girl. The premise is sweet and entertaining; the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are colorful and fun. PROTECTING THE GIRL NEXT DOOR is the perfect read for a lazy afternoon !

Great story!! This story is cute and a little sexy! Declan is your typical bachelor who doesn't want anything to do with marriage and has a TOTAL fear of kids, then is assigned to protect a little 6 yr. old girl by becoming her 1st. grade teacher. I loved Declan's reaction to the classroom of 6yr. olds in the beginning and how sweet he became on all of them. I also loved Kristin, another teacher in the school, and her daughter Lily. Kids in romance stories are one of my favorites and Lily was not a disappointment. How Declan falls for these two ladies and his transformation was fun!

Favorite Quote: No matter how hard I try, a wedding reminds me of a funeral. I knew I was here for a wedding, but the tone right now made me think… funeral. My Review: Protecting The Girl Next Door was my favorite of The Protectors series so far and provided a delightfully entertaining, amusing, and fun read. It was deftly written from my favorite dual POV and featured two oddly matched protagonists, who didn’t initially care for each other, at all. Kristin was a twenty-eight-year-old widow who had lost her Navy Seal husband nearly two years prior in an accident. She had always been a “good girl” and had married her high school sweetheart. Declan bragged he was never getting married and stopped dating good girls in high school after he noticed they never gave it up. The very idea of love, weddings, marriage, children, etc., caused him to shudder. So Declan was beyond miserable when protection assignment turned out to be a six-year-old girl and required him to go undercover as a substitute first-grade teacher. He was definitely out of his comfort zone and being ratted out by one of his new students, a serious and academically precocious six-year-old who complained she wasn’t learning anything in his class. I enjoyed this humorous, quick, and easy to follow tale from start to finish.

Although Sebastian is my favorite hero of the Protector series, Declan comes in at a close second! We meet Declan and Kristin in this third book, Protecting the Girl Next Door. Declan has been assigned to protect a little first-grade girl who is in danger of being kidnapped by her birth mother. In order to protect Jessileigh, Declan must become the First Grade teacher. To say this was a stretch for him and his comfort zone is an understatement. Kristen is not only a teacher at the same school but she is also a parent of First Grader Lily. Almost immediately she is attracted to Declan but also suspicious of his credentials and teaching style (or lack thereof). There is one thing Kristen does know. Declan is completely wrong for her. She is still grieving for the husband she lost in a military accident and she is raising her daughter by herself and doesn’t want a committed relationship. Declan and Kristen come together and burn up the pages. Declan is sweet and caring and it doesn’t take long for Kristen (and her daughter Lily) to get attached. There is a bit of drama, Declan and Kristen part company and realize they are both miserable. I love that Kristen takes the first step to make things right and there is a happily-ever-after.

A true original. In a twist of pure genius, Chase and Adams scored success with a not often used scenario. They took a man of action out of his element. Declan is the man with the plan and the strength to back it up. He thinks with his head and has become well-versed at ignoring his heart. When an assignment puts the big bad Marine in front of a class full of first graders, the man with the plan realizes he needs a helping hand. I LOVED this story. There is nothing more precious than a child and for these authors to blend the innocence of youth with the jaded maturity of adulthood was a stellar move. Kristin and Declan's romance traveled a complicated route but the message conveyed with this tale was simple. Sensitivity is not a weakness, it's a powerful asset. It only took a group of mischievous kids and a caring mama bear teacher to show this tough as nails warrior the error of his ways.
