Protecting the Heiress by Nana Malone is the first book in the brand new Heiress Duet. Since leaving the Royal Guard, Ariel has been putting together her own security firm. First employee - Jax. Previously of the Royal Guard, like herself, she knows that after what he has been through he'd do almost anything to get back into the elite Royal Guard. Including taking on his first job for her company as a manny!
Jax knows he is in trouble when he meets the client, or rather the woman (and baby) the client wants him to protect. It only takes one glance at Neela to understand on a visceral level that she could very well be his Kryptonite.
Neela wants one thing in life - peace and quiet in which to successfully run her business but with the death of her childhood best friend and the sudden guardianship of said best friends 13 month old daughter thrust upon her she is spinning out of control. Add in the almost kidnapping and the strange threatening letters and she is ever so glad she has such a capable and protective "manny" in the house. That is until she finds out who the manny really is. But let's face it - Jax couldn't keep the secret forever - he only had to keep his hands off the client. #MissionFail.
Steamy, hot, well-written and well-paced I am rapidly falling head over heels with this author and am excited for book two, Tempting the Heiress. Enjoy!

I absolutely loved this first book in the new Royals spinoff series by Nana Malone. Protecting the Heiress begins the tale of Ariel's new protection agency that she set up after leaving the Royal Guard, and focuses on Neela, a cryptologist, and Jax, a former member of the Royal Guard. Protecting the Heiress starts out with a bang, and it continues to take you on this awesome roller coaster of a ride that you will not want to get off!! Nana Malone's brilliant writing keeps you hooked as you move through the story.
Neela, the cryptologist, has just broken up with her boyfriend/business partner, and has just become mom to an 18-month old baby girl whose mom passed away via mysterious circumstances. And although Neela does not realize just how mysterious those circumstances are, she does realize that she needs a nanny!! And that is where Jax comes into play. Jax has just agreed to work for Ariel based on the promise that she made to him, and in so doing, he becomes the hot manny to Neela's baby girl. And once Neela and Jax meet face-to-face the spark is lit and the chemistry between these two jumps right off the pages.
Protecting the Heiress is an absolutely wonderful read with fantastic characters, and yes, you get to see many of the characters that you loved in the Royals series. Honestly, right now all I really need is Book 2 in this Duet, because the ending for this one was a real doozy!!!

Royal Sexy Manny.
When it comes to security no one is better than the Royal Guard, even if you are not part of the guard, they are elite and fierce. After Ariel walks away for the guard she decides to go into business doing what she does best, protecting people. She needs a tam as badass as her and her first recruit is Jax, ex Royal Guard. With the promise that she could get him back into the Royal Guard, something nearly impossible, he agrees to help her. Jax is not prepared for how he will feel and what will happen when they meet their first client, Neela.
Neela is going through a rough patch in her business and in her personal life, and when things seem that nothing else could go wrong, she receives that call that will change her life forever. Her best friend from childhood has died and has left Neela in charge of her daughter. Due to Willa’s untimely death, her lawyer decides that Neela and the baby need special protection and hires Ariel and Jax to look over Neela and the baby as a nanny agency.
There is an instant connection between Jax and Neela, but she decides to give them the job when she sees Jax in action with the baby, he is like the baby whisperer. Mayzie is adorable and wins Jax in an instant, but he is not only there to protect Mayzie, but also Neela. The attraction is too much for both and even though they want to keep it completely professional, sometime things are not that easy. When a threat is received all lines are blurred and Jax will do anything in his power to protect Mayzie and Neela. Even if he is about to lose everything that he has been working for.
With Protecting the heiress we return to the world of the Winston Isles and to all the characters we have come to love. Can’t wait to see what happens in the conclusion of this funny, hot, passionate, exciting, mysterious story.

All I kept thinking while reading this book was just do it already. That was the most long drawn out sexcapade ever.
And that ending ... why do you leave me hanging like that? Goodness, I can't wait to see how Jax gets out of this mess.
I love little Mayzie. She is the star of the show. I can't wait to see what other escapades they have. With her. And Bex is a hoot. God bless the crazy woman. Neela needs her to keep her balanced.
Definitely worth reading but if you're not a fan of cliffhangers wait and binge read after the next book comes out.

Hunky Jax was the last person you'd expect to be a MANNY. Neela sure didn't think so. That is when her brain woke open and her libido backed off--a little. She'd have never considered hiring him If she weren't so tired and felt so useless taking care of the sweet cute but little one who wouldn't eat for her. Wouldn't stop crying and sure would cooperate in any other way. Neela wasn't prepared to become an instant mother to a baby and the fortune that came with her. When the gorgeous sexy giant got up and took the baby from her receptionist, changing her and then cuddling her to his chest she was ready to hire him. When she stopped crying the deed was done. He had to stay.
But Jax was more. He was undercover to protect Neela and the baby. The temporary trustee wanted her to have bodyguards she refused. His way of getting around her objection was Jax and the new company he just started working.
Jax wasn't worried about the baby. She was a cutie and he had nieces and nephews galore. His problem was the gorgeous new mom. His conversations with his libido make his struggle quite clear.
The two are both characters you'll love and laugh at their struggle to maintain boundaries, knowing it won't be long. The baby is a cutie. Even though she doesn't talk she makes her feelings of love and orneriness clear. She'll steal your heart. The friends are a riot, pushing them together. The tension is twofold. Sexual and danger. We also get a visit with some old friends from previous Royal Stories.
Another amazing story from the author. Waiting for part two is going to be a rough one.

Neela Westbrook got the shock of her life when she was suddenly given custody her friends daughter, Maysie.
When Neela steps into her new role as guardian she quickly finds out that she’s in over her head and could use a little help.
In walks Jax, manny and answer to all her needs.
Compassionate, strong, spirited and all round kick-butt Jax and Neela are. They’re a great addition to an already amazing cast of characters. I can’t wait to find out what happens in the second half of their story.

I absolutely adored this forbidden romance! This latest in the Royals of the Winston Isle saga is funny, sweet, suspenseful and very sexy! Ariel is setting up her new business after leaving the Royal Guard. Her first employee is Jax, a cocky, ex Royal Guard who was recommended by Roone. He takes on their first undercover assignment to protect Neely, and the new baby she became guardian of. Jax makes a perfect manny, he is so good with the adorable little Mayzie, and the chemistry between Neely and Jax is off the charts. But someone is threatening Neely and Mayzie, and they don't know why. This is a fun and suspenseful romance that Malone does so well. The banter between friends is hilarious, it has loads of sexual tension, and a thrilling mystery that keeps you turning the pages to find out what will happen next. This is a great setup for Ariel's new business, Royal Elite, new sexy stories about her diverse group of elite security specialists and her story as well. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

This book has so many different elements in it from drama, love, suspense and comedy. I enjoyed the storyline of Jax and Neela with Maysie. Jax use to be in the Royal Guard he can't go back to that after leaving it. But Ariel offers him something he can't pass on. He becomes a undercover Manny to protect Neela and Maysie. While protecting Neela and Maysie he is growing a need for Neela. Neela believes Jax to be a Manny what happens when she figures out the truth? Really enjoyed this story and loved the characters.

It's the surprises that keep life interesting and Heiress pulls out all the stops. Malone is a whiz when it comes to keeping readers intrigued and boy do Jax and Ariel deliver. A red herring here, an cataclysmic attraction there and an adorable baby keeps the canvas interesting. Add in a few blasts from the past and you can't wait for the adventure ahead. Protecting the Heiress is an adventure that must be experienced over and over again.
