In the old world shadows of Providence, Rhode Island, Nina Grey finds herself the center of a war between Hell and Earth.

Struggling with her father's recent death, Nina meets Jared Ryel by chance...or so she believes. Although his stunning good looks and mysterious talents are a welcome distraction, it soon becomes clear that Jared knows more about Nina than even her friends at Brown University. When questions outnumber answers, Jared risks everything to keep the woman he was born to save-by sharing the secret he was sworn to protect.

When her father's former associates begin following her in the dark, Nina learns that her father is not the man she thought he was, but a thief who stole from demons. Searching for the truth behind her father's death, Nina stumbles upon something she never expected-something Hell wants-and only she holds the key.

I bought this book because I loved Beautiful Disaster, and I liked the way that Jamie McGuire writes. I wasn't really impressed with this book. I didn't feel like there was enough interaction between Nina and Jared before Nina fell for him. The intense feelings that she had for him so soon after meeting him just didn't really seem believable to me. I wasn't expecting this book to be of such a supernatural nature and I think that is what really threw me while reading it. Maybe I was just hoping for something a lot like Beautiful Disaster since I loved it so much!

Compared to "Beautiful Disaster" Providence proved to be a disappointment. I understood this book would have a fiction theme but I didn't expect to feel like I was reading nothing short of Harry Potter (imaginative wise) Although it's not a hit like Harry Potter (not that I'm a fan, but the book does a series of movies) it's certainly HIGHLY fiction. Talks about things that aren't even in the realm of reality. Bible of Hell, Demons ascending upon Earth--- long story short the theme of romance is definitely alive and you can almost feel the love the characters have for one another, and it also has a lot of comedy in it, but it was a little too wild on the imaginative side for me. I found myself thinking about possibly not finishing it at all, but then again no matter how horrible the story I can never not finish a book.

If you haven't ready Beautiful Disaster READ IT! This series is a must read and I can't wait for the final installment. It is uplifting and fun read but also suspenseful and moving love story. HIGHLY recommend!

I enjoyed this story. Very easy read. Good character development although at times it felt while reading the story that there was so much information about Jared and Nina's love story then the author would throw in bits and pieces about the bad guys to keep it was like, oh yeah, we are fighting bad guys and a fight would ensue and then back to the love story drama.... the college friends are cute and Ryan is likeable enough. I will read the next book, I find the story entertaining enough to keep me reading.

I loved this book! I could not put it down. Usually I take a little break before I start the next book in a series but this time I couldn't wait! I am already starting the second book. It won't dissapoint!

The story flowed freely from beginning to end. There wasn't anything that left you wondering. I loved the Love story. It wasn't too gushy but not stilted. The love triangle was a little iffy but I loved both Ryan and Jared. Claire ROCKED! If they ever do a movie on this book, I see Dakota Fanning as a great prospect for her character. This author really knows how to tell a story without giving you alot of useless information. She explains everthing as the story moves along which keeps you from having to either read paragraph after paragraph of boring explanations from the narator or be interrupted with an explanation just when you are really starting to get into the story which also slows the pace of the story. I would recommend everyone give this book a shot. It has strong potential for a very excellent series/trilogy.

I have always refused to re-read books because I know what the outcome is, but this book is definitely an exception. I was fifteen when I first read it and fell in love with reading because of this book. Jared Ryel is not only my favorite  male character, but also my first fictional love!

I would agree this book is a mix of Twilight an 50 Shades. I loved it. I sucked me right in and now I am reading the second one.

If you want to read twilight with angels here it is. Killed time but it's not going to win any awards.

I picked up Providence because of how much I am obsessed with Beautiful Disaster. This book is a completely different genre and blew me away. This series is so very different from BD. McQuire is so talented to create a world around soul searing romance that will make you ride a roller coaster of emotion and not want to put the book down. The very best thing about reading this series now is that all three books are out and I didn't have to wait for the next book! I am immediately reading Requiem which picks up where Providence left off. After her father's funeral, Nina sits on a bus stop bench in the pouring rain staring into space when her silent protector comes and sits along side of her. Jared is hot, protective, and supernatural--3 of my favorite things. Sharing a cab back to Brown University, Jared and Nina talk just enough to plant the seed of attraction. Soon Nina is looking for places to 'run' into Jared and starts to believe he is watching over her. One night when Jared saves Nina and her friends, fate begins to weave their lives together in a way that could be deadly. Jared and Nina have some serious chemistry and I cheered all the way through with them. I also cried in places where Nina and Jared believe the world is out against them. This is an action packed supernatural romance that I loved. Jamie McQuire is definitely one of the best and will soon be a household name. I can't wait to see how this series ends.

What's there NOT to love? I’ll start by saying this is the first Jamie McGuire’s book I read. Yes, I know what you’re thinking. I need to read Beautiful Disaster. The thing is I came upon this book by chance, I really didn’t intend to read a book right when I’m studying for finals, but it hasn’t left my mind since the moment I read the first chapter. And considering the amount of studying I have to do for my finals it’s not the wisest idea on my side. Either way, I have to say it was amazing. I loved every single part of it, oh so much. Being the sucker for romance that I am, I knew this book would owe me the second we meet Jared. Can I say dreamy? Or angelic, if you’d like. ;) But that’s not all there is to Providence, oh certainly not. The action and suspense had me on edge almost all through the book. I loved most characters, with exception of Ryan (don’t ask me why, not even I know), he was sweet and nice, and a great friend to Nina, but whatever right? Beth was probably my favorite supporting character, who doesn’t want a friend like that? Oh, and Kim’s bluntness had me laughing most of the time. I don’t really have much to say about Jared without swooning. My god! The words that he spoke were just GAH! So much sweetness, love and devotion. And Nina… well she was strong, it’s hard not to feel for her with everything she goes through. But I’ll go right out and say it, I did want to slap some sense into her more than once, and the closest to the end we got the more I worried. I was less than a hundred pages away and I was already freaking out and thinking there weren’t going to be enough pages to get me to a happy ending. Anyway… this book will have you sitting on the edge of you seat, biting your nails nervously, grinning so hard your cheeks hurt, and falling in love with them every step of the way. Oh, and if you’re anything like me, probably crying your eyes out too. There’s romance, action, suspense and then some. What else can we ask for? On a final note, I must add that this is not the last Jamie McGuire’s book I will read, for one because I still have to read Requiem and Eden (which I’m dying to read too, by the way), not to mention Beautiful Disaster.

I was looking so foreward to reading this book. But it turns out that this book is corrupted and wont load for some people. And i just happened to be one of those. I went to barnes and noble to see what was wrong and they cleared my ENTIRE nook. I lost all of my data and wasted $3 on this book until they uncorrupt it which might never happen. A TIP OF ADVICE: do not buy this book unless you are positive it isnt corrupted

I read ALOT of books, but this one by far is one of the best..ranks right up there with the Twilight Saga. I couldn't keep my nose out of it. It's a great love story, as well as a "what's going to happen next" kind of book. I can't wait for the sequel!!

Although I consider myself a new adult author, something McGuire is also known for being, I couldn¿t get into her popular Beautiful Disaster novel. I found Travis way too unlikable and couldn¿t get past his extreme assholeness. This made me a little skeptical over whether I¿d enjoy Providence. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I get the readers who make the Twilight comparisons, but I think there was much more suspense in this book. The college-age characters were realistically drawn and McGuire didn¿t get logged down in complicated mythology about the angels and demons. Jared was a little too tortured for my taste, but I think that¿s because I always prefer the underdog love interest who doesn¿t have a chance in hell of getting the girl (poor Ryan). I give the book four out of five stars.

This was actually my very first Jamie Book - I read it quite some time back, way before BD/WD. I loved the supernatural aspect to it and of course Jared :) I highly recommend this book if you want a different kind of romance.

I absolutely LOVED PROVIDENCE!!!!! Jared is my new favorite book boyfriend. He is perfect, sexy, charming, strong, protective, devoted, lethal... The complete swoon package!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can't wait to start Requiem. *Audio Book Review* This was my second audio book and I think I am forever spoiled by this narrator. Carly Robins did a fabulous job with all characters and voices. Her voice kind of reminded me of Kristen Bell so I pictured Anna from Frozen for Nina. Loved it!!! I couldn't wait to get in the car and listen! I often sat in the driveway at home or in a parking lot just listening once I arrived somewhere. I hope she does Requiem and Eden too!

This is a whole new world you need to meet. The characters are so well thought out and you'll wish you knew them in real life. This first book in the trilogy will only make you have to keep going. The story is so great, you'll immerse yourself in this unique reality. And trust me, you'll be drooling over Jared Ryel.
