This is a wonderful and scholarly book about the true age of the earth. Shepherd doesn't give us a precise date, but a range of limitation (the age of the earth is between 'x' years old and 'y' years old). He is very careful in his methodology and builds his case slowly, perhaps like a good attorney might approach the matter in a court of law. I think the book is reasonably easy to read, although there are some technical things mentioned. Shepherd builds his case by starting with the Scriptures and constructing an argument for why it should be trusted for such things as figuring the age of the earth. After he runs through the actual calculation, he then spends several chapters (perhaps 1/2 the book) sharing facts that support his conclusions that are drawn from outside the Bible (science and history, etc...). This would be a good book to get into the schools. It would also be a good book for pastors and Christians. I'd also like to see scientists read it. Many of them need just this sort of thing to pull them out of their errancies with regard to evolution and the like.
