Eliana Sawyer's life was rocked from its foundation twice in as many years. She risked her heart and had it shattered into a thousand pieces when Malik left her with no warning. While she'd normally raise her chin and ignore the pain, she can't forget what he gave her before he disappeared from her life.

Malik Ward is a prince amongst the lion shifters and knows that one day he will have to take a mate. Only, his people can never mate with humans. Under the mistaken impression that Eliana was only human, he forced himself to leave before they'd crossed a line and he broke his vow to his people. Now that he knows the truth about Eliana, however, it will take more than groveling to win back the one woman fated to be his.

While Eliana and Malik embark on a new sensuous path that might lead to disaster, the realms aren't ready to allow the final lightning-struck human to be enveloped into their fold. The couple will have to combat those plotting against them, as well as the broken promises and heated emotions they share.

Ebook is 101 nook pages The story line is pretty basic and very boring. It seems like the author was wrapping up the series on a deadline and absolutely no time, thought or planning went into the story line. Seriously, don't waste your money on this one.

Loved this whole series. Sad to see it end though.

This series is a must read. Every book was so descriptive and powerful with the ability to stand alone and bring the reader into a new realm. I couldn't stop with the first book and read all 7, one right after the other. Loved, loved, loved every part and I wish there was more.

Sad to say...I have followed this series through every one but it was evident from the third book the author gave up on her characters. She was ok through Dante's story but then ran out of character and world building. The fight at the end of Dante's story was the most descriptive and united various characters and magic expected in paranormal books. She has since neglected "showing" the magic the characters could wield and spent too much time vacillating between what each character was 'thinking'. This forced tension was ok for a couple of pages here and there but instead lasted through much of the last few "books". Unfortunately, since there are few pages per book that also highlights less action and informative dialogue as opposed to relationship angst with every character. Those of us following the series waited too long for the conclusion and it ended poorly. We never got much from the world of the merman or the fae and now the lion. Even as far back as number five with Faith and Levi the world sights and experiences for the wizard was less than it could've been. And the magic was almost non existent for the last several books. Just 'tingling" here and there. And "he put up a shield" type of dialogue. What did it look like? What was the incantation? Can it be replicated? Were any special items or herbs used? If so, describe. Was the spell limited in size? Describe towns or houses and trees. What makes them different? Or the same as ours? The author claimed she wanted a series with numerous paranormals but except for the first two or three books she left out the worlds and the magics associated with those kinds of characters. Seems as if she jumped into other series and was ready to give up on this one. If you've waited for the last in the series you'll buy it for that reason alone. Sorry, but paranormal is not this author's forte' at this time. If the premise of the story is that a lead character is obsessed with the other lead character- even though they shouldn't or don't want to be- that is not a paranormal book. It's just a romance story. Even if one or more characters are of another species. What sets it apart as paranormal is the world building and what makes the species unique.

3 out of 5 stars!! This is the FINAL novel from Ms. Ryan’s Dante's Circle Series. Here we follow Eliana and Malik as they come to terms with their future, find out more about Eliana’s true self, and take on the reins of parenthood while Malik takes on his new role of leader of his pride. However, not everyone is in favor of Malik ruling over them and will stop at nothing to take him down. What will Eliana have to do to keep her new family together forever? Will the sacrifice be worth it? This novel was very cute! Yet, while I appreciated the updates that happened for all of Eliana’s friends/family at the beginning and end of this novel, I found the first 30% of this novel hard to read through. I found it difficult mostly because, while I liked Eliana and Malik together as a couple, they come back together in a rushed and kind of unrealistic way. It was hard to appreciate their struggle and joining, as I would have liked. Though once mated I found the plot to become more fast-paced and entertaining. Together their attraction and chemistry are undeniable. What threw me off in the beginning with Malik was just as Eliana states in Chapter 3 :: -- The king of the freaking jungle was an a**hole. -- Nevertheless, once they overcome that, they become a powerfully protective duo that will do whatever it takes to keep their family together. I loved the scenes based around their child. So heartwarming! I HIGHLY recommend this novel and series to those who are fans of Ms. Ryan and/or looking for a unique paranormal romance! I'm going to let you in on a secret. Before Prowled Darkness (not a fan of the title) I haven't read any of the Dante's Circle books. Shocking right!!! What can I say, I read so much that somethings good authors take time to move into the rotation. I really glad that I was able to read Prowled Darkness. I loved the characters and the whole idea of the story line. I did feel the story was just a little bit short but that's a personal preference. I'm glad the author didn't drag out any issues between Malik and Eliana. Instead she got right to their story. Which made for better moments between them. The only problem I have with this story I really hate that I didn't read the others first. I have a feeling I would have enjoyed them. I'm going to have to try and read the whole series. This is a good, fast paced story that you'll really enjoy.

Very well written but the ending was disappointing. Not the best end to a series.

Carrie Ann Ryan’s Prowled Darkness is an excellent conclusion to the Dante's Circle Series. Lion shifter and next in line for the throne, Malik Ward, left the woman he loved thinking she was human, and that they were unable to be together. Eliana Sawyer was lightning-struck, a human hit by lightning, which will trigger her dormant supernatural DNA once claimed by her mate. The man she loves and thought was human left her before she could tell him that she was pregnant. This contemporary PNR is suitable for adults. Prowled Darkness begins with Malik’s return to Dante’s circle after discovering that Eliana is lightning-struck. From the first page, the story is attention-grabbing and exciting. I love how Eliana’s friends and their mates all looked out for her when she was on her own. They are very protective of her and do not want to see her hurt. I enjoyed the plot. It moved fast and was gripping. A lot of things happened in a short amount of time. I love which supernatural being Eliana winded up being. It was very appropriate. I like Malik. He was in a difficult position. The two truly love each other and are a great couple. Malik’s aunt and uncle make good antagonist. They want the throne that rightfully belongs to Malik. I enjoyed the ending. It was smart to have the last scene at Dante’s Circle. It concluded the series well. Complimentary copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

At the start of the story, it left me wondering at the direction the author, Carrie Ann Ryan, was taking me as it was written in a new direction than the previous books in the series. The more you read, the better it starts to unravel. This story will take you through your emotions... anger, frustration, heart break, and she still keeps you guessing, even at it's conclusion. This is by far the best in that Eliana has absolutely no doubt about her match in the end. Prowled Darkness seems to have the series come full circle... pun intended. Get the series, you will love the stories and characters!

In this final installment of Dante's Circle we get Eliana’s story. Due to a lack of open communication Eliana’s mate and the love of her life leaves her high and dry not knowing she is his true mate and carrying his cub. Now Malik is back and he wants it all. Her love, her forgiveness and their child. Watching Eliana battle her trust issues with regards to Malik was hard. I don’t know that I would have given in as quickly but I wasn’t facing single parenthood either. Eliana is a fantastic character strong in ways she doesn’t even realize. I really enjoyed watching her grow. Prowled Darkness is a wonderful exit to this terrific series.

I haven't read the previous books in this series but there is enough background information in this one to make it a standalone. Malik is the prince of the lion shifters and in line to become Leo, the king of the pride. Eliana is a lightning struck human who is yet to find her powers as she hasn't yet met her true mate. Malik more or less throws Eliana out since he is aware that he can't mate with a human. They are both heartbroken and Eliana is struggling with what is yet to come. They have both assumed that the other one is human and when Malik uncovers Eliana's true nature, he is determined to win her back and claim her for his mate. It takes a little convincing to get Eliana to agree that they are actually true mates. Malik's attitude to begin with doesn't really help. He is facing a prospective rebellion within the pride on top his father's ill health. Eliana comes into her powers when her supernatural nature is revealed. This is a beautiful unexpected revelation too. I enjoyed this story but I would have liked to have seen more of Eliana's powers. Except for what happens during the rebellion and her intuition, there are hardly any other indications as to what else she can do. This is a very well written, easy to read short story which would appeal to lovers of the paranormal. I was kindly issued with an advanced ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
