I've always loved the story of Eros, er, Cupid, and Psyche, and this is a fun, VERY hot retelling. Especially interesting was how prominent Venus was in this take, but I loved the way the author handled it. Disclaimer: I'm acquainted with the author via social media. If you prefer the Greek versions of names (Eros, Aphrodite), it might take you a few minutes to wrap your head around this version, which uses the Roman ones. Also - there is a hint of lesbian play, which stops short of full consummation. So if that squicks you out, this might not be the book for you - if you are LOOKING for intense girl-girl action, likewise. I really liked the grittiness of Psyche in this version, and her conflict over who she was really in love with. The addition of minor deities to the mix added richness. Very much looking forward to more tales from this author.

This meticulously crafted and beautifully etched book re-tells the myth of Cupid and Psyche. The writer marries rich characters filled with universal dilemmas and fears, with the otherworldly sweep of the ancient gods. She has clearly done a great deal of research, and has woven all the elements together into a lush, sensual tale that is hard to put down, and lingers well after you turn the last page.

"Psyche Unbound" is an excellent story that pulled me in right away from the beginning. It's suspenseful and romantic at the same time. I can't really think of many books that can take on both of those genres at the same time and do it well. And the writing is wonderful. I'm looking forward to more books by Zenobia Neil!

Being a woman "of a certain age" who grow up studying Greek and Roman mythology and later branched out into international folklore, a friend gave me Zenobia Neil's "Psyche Unbound." "I know it's your favorite myth", my friend said, "and it's well based on the original from Apuleius." Well, yes, clearly carefully researched with lovely historical additions of details of that time: beautiful descriptions of the art and mosaics, clear details of the foods, clothing, etc. Definitely very well written, Neil certainly knows how to weave a story. But, my friend neglected to tell me that it is an erotic re-telling of the myth of Eros and his mortal love. And, unfortunately, I started reading it on a plane. My eyes must have been as large as saucers, for sure. Now that I have recovered from my first venture into Greek god erotica, I am quite eager to proceed. I look forward to other books by Neil....she definitely has a flare and talent for that particular genre.

This was a very interesting read. Not the type of story I read often, but it was very good. This story deals with Roman Gods and one special human (Psyche) who is so beautiful that she is sacrificed to a monster. But the monster isn't quite what you would expect from the beginning. I don't want to spoil anything so I can't say too much. I really enjoyed the interactions with various Gods throughout the story. This is a very steamy book, and I really enjoyed reading it.

Psyche was considered beautiful, more beautiful than Venus Goddess of Love and Beauty. Since Venus is consumed with jealousy she plots to rid the mortal world of this beautiful girl. Thus begins the trials of Psyche and her fight to live and love the God of Love. This is a very intriguing story and one I thoroughly enjoyed. Hopefully there will be more stories like this from this author.

I liked this book and it was not what I was expecting. A historical romance with Gods in it. Along with uncertainty, love, loss and hope. I would have liked the ending to have been unfolded more but it didn't take away from the overall story. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

"Psyche Unbound" by Zenobia Neal is a historical erotic romance. This is the story of Roman princess Psyche who has angered Venus, the Goddess of Love and Beauty. The storyline flowed well. I found this story hard to read. This just is not my normal type of book to read. If you enjoy the combination of Greek mythology and erotic content, then you may enjoy this book. FYI, includes mature content. I received a copy of this book from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this historical erotic story involving the different Gods that Psyche has to endure as a punishment to win her husband back. A satisfying read, love the descriptive writing that this author has provided. My favorite was the God from the water.
