I have read many metaphysical books concerning intuition, pyschic abilities, and inner guidance, but John Holland's book is clear, concise and easy to understand. He takes a complex issue and teaches it in a way that makes the reader feel that these abilities really are attainable! Some books on the subject tend to be deep and heavy with information; John's book has all the information as well, but his easy writing style makes you feel like he's right there guiding you through it! I highly recommend Psychic Navigator to anyone who takes seriously thier inner spiritual journey.

This book was recommended to me as a beginners guide to exploring the psychic and intuitive senses, those which expand beyond the physical senses. This book addresses basic vocabulary related to the psychic senses, such as auras, chakras, meditation, etc., and discusses the various types of psychic awarness, and how one can become more attune with these senses. Visualization techniques are discussed, as well as breathing techniques, and the importance of breath. There are no shortage of examples to go along with all topics discussed throughout this book, which proves to be very helpful, and there are plenty of affirmations presented to coincide with each individual topic. This book also comes with a cd to aid in the process of meditation and visualization.

John Holland is such a down-to-earth, caring individual, which makes all of the difference in how his writing comes across. We all take in information differently and as a medium, myself, I can honestly say that not all of my clients and students are able to digest everything that I tell them-- however, they eventually find that same information said in a way that is accessible and understandable to them. For those who find Doreen Virtue or Sylvia Browne a bit too much to digest, John Holland is a bit more of a boy-next-door psychic. He doesn't wear lots of crystals or talk in a way that makes himself over-important. He simply "is." The CD included in this book contains some very powerful meditations. Being a native of the Boston area, I find his accent to be comforting, like a little piece of home. Others may not enjoy it so much, so just giving you a heads up! (wink) I often listen to these meditations while taking a sea salt/epsom salt bath, and find that the elements of the salt and water intensify my ability to visualize and let go. If you are unfamiliar with the concept of the chakras, I recommend Liza Simpson's "The Book of Chakra Healing," as a companion to help you understand why each chakra or 'power center' is so important to pay attention to, as well as all of the corresponding physical, emotional aspects for each one.

This is the first book I have ever read about honing psychic skills. I learned that we all have them. As a true sceptic, my rational brain has questioned the validity of people being able to foretell the future with any amount of accuracy. Empathic talents? John's book and his exercises has opened my eyes to an infinite set of possibilities. The accompanying CD with 4 exercises is a must. The 4th exercise is the most powerful. But be careful to make sure you follow his advice and close down your chakras and protect yourself. As a novice, you can really open yourself up to some major stressors without even knowing you are taking them on, as I did.
