this is a great book for people just starting their research on this disorder or people who have a good background on it already. It's easy to read from cover to cover or flip to a specific section. Easy to understand but not overly simplified. A high recomendation for anyone who suffers from this disorder or anyone who knows someone who does

My first identifiable major depressions were at age 5, 12, and 17. I began treatment at age 38. With the aid of medication, the use of cognitive tools and a strong system I have had a productive and contented life for the past 24 years. Unlike most books written by the professional community, this book is a down-to-earth description of the disorder and the impact on those who cherish someone with Bipolar Disorder. This is an excellent resource for the average person and contains numerous references that assist one to find treatment and support. Many thanks to the author - Clint

This is one of the best medical books written for consumers on all topics, not just bipolar. The book clearly and unabashedly described the condition, how to cope, and strategies for success. This is a must read for any patient with bipolar or those around them.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very enlightening to hear first hand from someone with Bipolar who is also working in the medical field. Although many of the words she used I had to look up it was still an excellent read.
