Helena Hunting is a master at Romantic Comedy and the latest in The Puck Series is just as good if not better than the previous books. This was the one I have been waiting for Lance Romero's story, the man who seemed like he was never going to be tamed , I have loved this imperfect, flawed man from the first time I met him and I'm so glade he got his own book, his story needed to be told. Another beautiful, funny, intense, heartbreaking sexy addition to the Pucked Series. A must read

4.5 stars — Oh wow, another audiobook win! I’m telling you, there is nothing like listening to a mild Scottish accent. Now, I will caveat that by saying I have no idea how authentic it was — I know Mr. Morgan does not normally have an accent. But for someone with no ear for authenticity, it was swoony. I absolutely ADORED the way Jacob Morgan performed Lance…he made all of the emotions come alive, and he made my heart pitter-patter. I was worried about Rose Dioro at first, b/c she was so…delicate sounding. But she totally grew on me and made Poppy come alive. I also loved the way she would voice other characters, and how she would voice Lance as well. Seriously, this is another case where I believe the narrators took a great book and made it even better. I didn’t want to stop listening, and honestly sat in my chair listening to “just one more chapter” way too much when I should have been doing other things. That’s what I call a success. Now on to the actual book! I was a bit concerned with the way the book started with Lance. We get a fairly explicit scene of him with another woman (women) at the very start, and normally that would be a complete turnoff for me. But in the end I think it helped me to truly understand the f'ed up nature of his toxic relationship with Tash. It gave us immediate insight into how he saw himself, how he felt about sex, and all of the other emotions roiling around in him. And wow…my heart broke for him. Truly it did. I can’t even imagine what he went through in his childhood, and then to have Tash come along and take advantage of that. I completely understood why his damage made him feel that he deserved that kind of treatment, even as I cried for him. There was so much to his character, and I fell in love with him immediately. Which is not to say that I didn’t want to smack him for some of his choices, but I also understood why he made some of those choices. And he was seriously adorable — I loved his addiction to sweets, it only added to his boyish charm. I felt like we got to see him grow throughout the book, and truly accept the things he couldn’t change, but also strive to heal what he could. Poppy was freaking adorable as well. I was initially annoyed with her for keeping their past a secret, but in the end I was okay with how that all played out. It made sense for them. I loved how patient and kind she was, but that she also wasn’t willing to put up with all of Lance’s crap. I loved that while she was a quieter, shyer character, that didn’t mean she wasn’t strong. She stayed true to who she was, even if it made her stand out. I loved how dedicated she was to the people in her life, and to her job. And the two of them together made my heart explode. They had so much chemistry in the steamy sense, but I also truly felt their connection on the emotional level. They both made me giddy with how much they liked each other, and I was rooting for them not to get caught up in drama. I appreciated that when the conflict came, I was okay with both of their reactions. I hurt for them both, but I thought they both reacted as well as they could. It made the resolution so sweet. So yeah, total success for me. I’ve only read one other in this series, Pucked, and I wasn’t a big fan of Violet in that one (though I LOVED Alex). So I was leery of more books in this series, b/c the humour in that one was a bit overdone. I can honestly say that this book had a completely different feel

I thought I was going to have a problem liking Lance, but the more I read, the more he grew in character, the better I liked him. He and Poppy were great together. Love this series.

Favorite one of the series . Lance's story is one of true heartache and happens way more then it should. The strength, support, and love Poppy has and shows it great. They are a great couple and insperation .

I've waiting forever for this book and it did not disappoint. This book is a bit different from the others in the series in that it is a bit more serious. It deals with childhood abuse and it can be hard to read about. But it also has the signature funny and ridiculous parts too. I loved the heroine and how patient and lovely she was. I felt for Lance and his issues of betrayal esp with Tash. Again I loved revisiting with old characters. The chemistry between the 2 characters were hot! I hope this series continues because I love the author's take on these group of hockey players and their loves.

“A must-read for any Helena Hunting fan!” •*¨*• ‘I’m terrified of being the sole point of her focus. But I’m so tired of the emptiness. I’m tired of the endless ache, and I’m willing her to be the one who can fix that for me.’ ♥ Lance ★¸¸.•*¨*•★Minor spoilers alert!!!★•*¨*•.¸¸★ Cover and chapter design: Hot ginger alert! I’m a fan of the font style for the title on the cover and the chapter headings in the e-book. I love the signature red color for the font as well. Seeing color inside an e-book always pleases me. •*¨*• Writing style: Dual POVs •*¨*• Dual formats read–Yes or No? Yes! •*¨*• I'm already a huge fan of Helena Hunting's writing talent across all romance genres and this sports romance series in particular. Lance's personal growth, spurred on in part to meeting and falling for Poppy, was very moving. It was astonishing to learn about his past dysfunctional relationship with his mother and Tash. Fortunately, Lance had a great support system that included his hockey buddies and fellow Mathlete Violet, his hockey team captain's wife. Once he opened up to them and to Poppy, he became a healthier individual that I couldn't help but love.I did lots of highlighting and bookmarking as I've come to expect from any Helena Hunting reading experience.

This book was different from the others, it was sad at times, but it was good. I loved Lance, my god what he went thru, you wanted to hug him, and I hated Tasha, what a nut job. I also liked Poppy, it was was nice how they tied in background of how they previously knew each other. Loved reading about others, and how they were there for each other, like Violets relationship with Lance and Lilly'so advice. It was good..do not miss it

The best book of the series. From the first page I fell in love with Lance. My heart broke for him when we find out about his childhood and how he grew up. The incident with his brother was devastating. Tash was the cruelest of them all. All Lance was looking for was an us with her and she used his past against him and played with his head. She knew how to manipulate him. He always gave in because that was what he thought he deserved. Until he met up again with Poppy. Of course the memories of her were so buried in the back of his head along with his unhappy memories of his past. But no matter time or anything else if something is meant to be it will happen. From her first touch he knew she was special. After all she is the only person who could touch him and he wouldn't lose it. Every other women's hands felt like spiders crawling on him but with Poppy he felt peace and safety. Poppy was so sweet. He was her first kiss and she never forgot him. Don't we all remember our first kiss. You cannot always believe what you hear or read. According to social media and articles Lance was a pig. His life with the bunnies and women in general. But it isn't until you see what he is underneath that you realized they were fabricated stories. Yes there was some truth to them but not as exaggerated as they appeared. And it was mostly because of Tash. He did it for her hoping she would realize that he was enough for them to be an us. My heart actually hurt for Lance and what he went through. His relationship with Poppy was so special and pure. She made him realize that he was indeed worthy and deserved to be happy and loved. I hated to see this book end. Out of all the Pucked stories Lance is my favorite.

I love, love, love the Pucked series by Helena Hunting. I could go on and on about the book, and find quotes, but there are so many other reviews out there with all that jazz :) I'll simply say that once I read the first book in the series, I was a goner and there was no turning back. Each book is a standalone read, but each book builds has the characters from the previous books so you can see what they're up too and how they grow a bit. I love this because as I fall in love with new characters, I get to see what's going on with some of my favorites from the series. And Lance.... Lance is definitely a fan favorite. He's just a broken guy that meets his match, and when he does, you can feel the chemistry and magic between the characters. I won't mention who the heroine is, because if you're anything like me, you want to wait and read it for yourself :) I loved learning more about Lance and what made him ticked, and I enjoyed watching him fall in love

Do I dare say Pucked Off just might be my favorite in the Pucked Series??? I really think it is!!! Helena Hunting how do you come up with this brilliance?!?! From the very beginning was hooked! Lance's story was just so heartbreaking but I loved reading about him overcoming his demons and wanting to strive to become a better man. Reading about his journey was beautiful. His nickname is Romance, some might see it because of his last name, Romero, but Romance fits him on a much deep level. Poppy definitely brought the romance out of him. He was so sweet and caring with her. It was hard not to swoon and swoon hard. I loved that the heroine and Lance had this backstory to their relationship. It was fun to read along while Lance put the puzzle pieces together on how they knew each other. Lance was very relentless on his perusal of the girl. Honestly, if I was her I don't think I could have said no either! The book was really fun to read! I loved their relationship. I loved watching it grow and develop. I love reading about the characters and how they grew and developed too. The story was well written and had an amazing storyline. It kept me interested from beginning to end. Well done Ms. Hunting!!! You blew me away with this book! FMR BOOK GRIND

Helena Hunting is on a winning streak with PUCKED OFF, the fifth book from the Pucked series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’ve been dying to know more about what was going on between Lance Romero and Tash; finding out his side of the story shocked me. I love that he reconnects with Poppy in this story. This contemporary sports romance primarily takes place in Chicago. It is told from both Lance’s and Poppy’s point of view. I love Lance’s character. He is complex and unexpected. He has a dark past. He is good at hiding his issues. My heart really went out to him. I’m so glad he crossed paths with Poppy again. She is the perfect person to heal him, physically and mentally. I thought it was clever how Lance and Poppy met as kids. Poppy is about as sweet as they come. I appreciated that she ends up becoming Lance’s massage therapist. Tash surprised me. I liked her in the earlier books. I would have never guessed the issues going on with her. It goes to show to show how different a person’s true nature can be. I love how tight Lance is with his teammates and their girlfriends/wife. They are his family and look out for him. I love how the girls got involved with Poppy. Helena Hunting did an amazing job with this story. The characters are skillfully developed and believable. The plot was unique and intriguing. I LOVED the ending; it was very clever. This series just keeps getting better. I become more invested in the characters with every new book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

When I first started reading this book, I honestly didn’t know what I was getting myself into. This book was sexy, yet intriguing. Some moments even taking me out of my comfort zone. I didn’t really understand Lance or why he would tolerate a certain woman’s behavior. So, I had to keep reading and find out more. Overall, this book was a quick and easy read for me. The story was entertaining and intrigued me. I loved that Lance was flawed and that there was more to him than meets the eye. I think the fact that he wasn’t perfect, made him more relateable to me. I loved the mystery that surrounded Poppy. Lance knew there was something familiar about her, but he wasn’t too sure what it was. She entered Lance’s life at just the right moment and gave him all the sweet and good that he’s always wanted. She made him want to be a better man and just accepted him for who he was; demons and all. While Pucked Off is the 5th book in the Pucked Series, I do feel that this book can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone novel. This book hit all the marks for a sexy and enjoyable read with the just right mix of drama and romance. Overall, an enjoyable read.

While this book was certainly different than the others in the Pucked Series it was just as perfect. I kind of had a crush on Lance before and definitely do now. Another great one from Helena Hunting.

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Helena Hunting's work. She's a fantastic story-teller. She can switch between genres like no other. And this book is a conglomeration of angsty goodness, sweetness, sexiness, and humor. It packs a whopping emotional punch and will leave you reeling in the best way possible. Lance is so, so broken. We only got a small taste of him in previous books, just enough to leave us wanting more. This book answers all your questions and then some. We get to see why Lance is the way he is and it's heartbreaking. We get to see the right girl walk into his life and completely turn it right side up. And I say that because Lance had a very skewed perception of himself and I feel that he was living upside down, so this girl rights all his wrongs. It's a beautiful, emotional love story. Seeing a broken boy find his redemption in life and love is the best thing ever. Lance is just plain amazing, and his girl is wonderful, in the way she is as a person and the way she holds strong on to Lance and helps him realize his self-worth. This is one of Helena's best books to date and I absolutely recommend it, a million times over. It can be read as a standalone, but I would strongly suggest reading all the books in the Pucked series because they are all fantastic.

Such a worthy book to read. Overcoming the hurts of our past isn't a popular topic but it's so worth it!

This was absolutely brilliant! Lance was totally different to how I thought he would be, so much better too. Randy has alway been my absolute favourite but I have to say Lance has given him a run for his money! This series just gets better and better!

The series is a must read for me, I absolutely love each of the books, but let me say that Helena Hunting took this book to a new level. Of course there is humor and drama, as always, but this time Lance Romero carved a new place in my heart. Epic story, I couldn't put it down, the heartbreak was real, the emotions were all over the place and it was just perfect!

The Pucked series and The Clipped Wings series just have me hooked by Helena Hunting. I knew Pucked Off was going to blow it out of the water for me. I was excited to read Lance’s story, our favorite Scottie!!! I loved Poppy too (like the flower). Through Helena’s series and in Pucked Off you can not help but be emotionally invested. You feel like you are reading about your own extended family. I have not read through every book in this series. But I will make up for it and start one clicking on the ones I have missed. Pucked Off made me feel hurtfully happy. Yes I know that is not a REAL word, but this book inspired me a new emotion. And whoa you find out how much stamina these hockey players have. I loved it. You will fall for Poppy and want to be her friend. You wants to hold Lance’s heart and protect it. Something out there always brought these two together. There is an ugly past that you will read about. It is not pretty, but it is a reality. What a wonderful story! If you have been following the Pucked series, you want to revisit our favorite hockey men. If you are new to the series, that is okay too. Pucked Off can be read as a stand alone.

Pucking Perfect! This book was nothing that I expected and so much more than I thought it would be! While I still firmly maintain that Pucked #1 is my all-time favorite in this series, Pucked Off stole my heart with its intense emotional experience. Out of all the books in this series, I think Lance is Helena Hunting's most well thought out and emotionally complex character so far. Lance certainly lived up to the nickname "Romance"! I was so completely in love with this story! It all came together seamlessly with clever plot twists, swoon worthy moments, heartbreaking memories, and the kind of feels that make your skin tingle. It was all kinds of sexy and passionate nestled within the strong emotional cocoon of the story.
