He heard the creature before he saw it. A small, dark shape darted out from the underbrush right in front of Averys feet. She screamed and launched straight up. Her vampire reflexes sent her a good five feet off the ground and he caught her on the way down.

One arm beneath her knees, the other supporting her upper back, he held her easily. She felt right.

Didnt she feel it? One glance into her deep blue eyes said, yes, in fact she did feel it. They were wide and a little shocked, and not, he was guessing, because of the rodent.

He couldnt have planned that better if hed tried.

He cant hurt you, he murmured and then started forward. But perhaps I should carry you the rest of the way, just to be safe.

What? Surely you dont think youre going to break my back, sweetheart. Youre light as a feather. And he was stiff as a board.

He had to keep Avery away from that part of his anatomy or shed know he wasnt as unaffected by her as he wanted to appear. He knew her. Shed use his desire against him and then theyd be no better off than they were now. No, he needed to tease her until she was begging him for more.

So he kept her high against his chest and made tracks to the cottage.

Hunter, I can walk.

I know that.

So why dont you put me down? Her question belied her actions. Shed wrapped her arms around his shoulders and neck and he tried to ignore just how good that felt; her clinging to him, depending on him, holding him.

Well, he drawled, for starters. We dont know that Mr. Mouse wasnt the first of an evil army with a taste for delicate vampire flesh. For all we know he could be the Calvary.

She tipped her head back and laughed. Damn, if the sound didnt wash through him like a cleansing rain. Shed never been able to hold back when he told jokes and that was just one more thing to appreciate about her. When she let her guard down, she was very easy going. Very go with the flow. And they shared the same sense of humor.

And second?

Oh hell. Im getting my workout for the day, he teased.

She playfully smacked his arm and he felt the tension of the last few hours drain away.

You just said Im light as a feather.

He loved her sexy little pout. She reminded him so much of the woman hed fallen for two solstices ago.

Yeah, well, that was one hundred feet ago, he said with a grin.

She smacked him again with a mock-frown. Put me down.

Not a chance, sweetheart.

3.75 Hunter has found his mate but Avery has built a wall around her heart so high and strong that Hunter might not be able to get passed it. Because of past hurts Avery has decided to live life in the moment and on her terms. Hunter will do what he needs to do to get passed Avery's walls and into her heart by showing Avery that he's in it for the long hall. Will Avery let him in or will she let the past rule her future? I enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to the next in the series.  I received this book from the author for a fair and honest review.

Mystic Isle, a fun filled locale for those seeking more than sun and surf......Avery, vampiress, meets Hunter, werewolf, and their brief steamy encounter was just the beginning for the both of them. Fast forward two years and the tall, dark and sexy werewolf knows that Avery is his mate and will do whatever it takes to win her heart. Avery eventually confesses why she's not a "forever" immortal; will it impact her relationship with Hunter? I enjoyed this entertaining read by Selena Blake. This is the 4th book in Ms. Blake's "Mystic Isle" series and I haven't been disappointed in any of them!  The only down size to this series is it's ain't LONG enough!!  ;-)  That's just how much I love this series.. You would thin that it being the 4th in the series that it would start to get old (as so many others do) but NO, they just keep getting better and better..  I can't wait to see which couple Ms. Blake picks to write about next??  There were two group of people that she could pick from..  Sorry no hints to be found in my reviews, ever! This story is about Avery Cooper (vampire) and Hunter Ciolek (werewolf) and their love story..  Loved both of them!  You will meet some of the other characters from the first three books in this series too..There is a reason "I'm a reader and NOT a writer"!  So that's all I can tell you..  Just go out and BUY this book and the first three in the series.  You will NOT be disappointed!

When the book starts we have a lot to learn about Avery. There have been some allusions to what happened to her, but all we know is that it was bad. We don't know anything about Hunter or even their night together. I liked that Avery's past wasn't dumped on us all at once, although I wish there had been some resolution for her. I loved Hunter and that he really did pursue Avery and never gave up no matter how tough Avery made it or how long it took. He showed that he knew her and what she needed. They were awesome together. Pearl was so funny and cute and I'm glad that Avery was such a good friend to her. I'm also really intrigued with the small scenes we had with Cal and Rosanna and to see where things go for them.

This is a truly wonderful story.  After a major event in Avery's life, she is a "love and leave them" type of girl.  She goes with her closest friends to "Mystic Isle" - a sex resort for immortals!   (Yes, you did read that right).  She meets Hunter, a drop dead, gorgeous, sexy werewolf.  Their attraction is instant and though Avery stipulates that their relationship is only for the stay on the Isle, Hunter wants more.  Lots more and he ALWAYS gets what he wants!  Ms Blake then takes us on a magical journey of lust, trust issues and ultimately love.  Her descriptive use of words brings the characters alive, you are with them every step of the way.  The author kept the sexual heat simmering on the back burner throughout the book, turning up the heat to boiling point and then returning to simmering again, keeping us wanting more.  Mix this together with a great storyline, loveable characters, you are onto a winner, well done author, another great addition to this amazing series.  I have been reading this series out of order, for me, it made no difference and I believe that this book can also be read as a stand alone.  But be warned, this is highly addictive and you will get withdrawal symptoms if you don't complete the series (lol).   The author advanced me a copy of this book for a honest review, which it have given.

Pursued by a Werewolf is one of my favorite Selena Blake books by far. Selena took her time with this book and for me as a reader it paid off. Even though readers have been introduced to both Avery and Hunter before I now understand so much more about them. Selena's character development of Avery and Hunter kept me reading when I should have been studying for finals. I connected with Avery in such a way that I thought she was a friend and I was almost in tears when I finished reading.

She is his and he will make her see it! Two solstices ago Avery Cooper, a vampiress, met a werewolf, Hunter Ciolek on Mystic Isle and their connection was undeniable and combustible. Avery learned before she was turned that love can destroy you and that nothing lasts forever so she lives life to the fullest with no commitments, enjoying the moments. That changed when she met Hunter and broke her rule of nothing more than a one-night stand to spend three wonderful amazing days with him. She cannot forget that time they had together, it changed her inside and that she finds troubling. She fights further involvement even though a part of her yearns for more. Hunter knew the moment he met Avery that she was the one for him, she is his mate and nothing is going to stop this werewolf from changing her mind no matter how long it takes and he pursues her relentlessly. He has no option but to do this for he is keeping a secret, something she doesn’t remember and this werewolf always gets what he wants and he has patience, immortals do have time on their side. And so once again they meet at Mystic Isle and with a new strategy Hunter slowly deepens the cracks in the armor surrounding Avery’s heart and his love and steadfast devotion heals the pains she has buried deeply but never forgotten or truly made peace with. Acceptance is healing. This was a wonderful romance. Would that we could all find someone like Hunter, a man who is sexy, gorgeous, protective, and caring and who will go to all lengths to prove his love to you. Selena Blake sure knows how to write romance. The epilogue was beautifully romantic. I loved seeing old friends from Mystic Isle and am looking forward to seeing more of them find HEA

Loved it!  Steamy with just enough sass.  I was cheering for Hunter and Avery the whole way through.  A few sad faces, a few happy tears and I'm a happy Salena fan!

Pursued by a Werewolf is a fantabulous read!! This is book 4 in the Mystic Isle series. We have Hunter, a werewolf and Avery, a vampire. It was a joy to read their story and watch them come together. When they met, it was instant connection. Hunter knew she was his mate, but Avery did not want a forever. So after 3 days spent together, they parted as friends. Hunter learned that patience is a virtue as 2 years went by with him trying his best to win her love. He has finally decided, this time he was going to take a stand. I cried with Avery as she told Hunter about her past, why she was so against a happily ever after. She had so much suffering in her past as a human and to come all this way and finally learn to trust her feelings for Hunter. We get to read about those oh so smokin sex scenes, hot enough to melt my kindle. If you know anything about the PONT DES ARTS BRIDGE in Paris, you will get a couple of scenes here!! That was so awesome, I had read about it somewhere before and Selena using it in the story was just great. We also get to see updates on our other girls and their mates; Coco and Grayson, Ceara and Maxime, Izzy and Shade and of course V, who has yet to get her story. We also get some secondary characters and storylines revolving around them in this book. One of who was Pearl and she was a gem, lol. There was just so much excitement in this book, I couldn't stop reading it once I started. So if you haven't read any of the Mystic Isle books, then go get them in order and read them. If you are a Mystic Isle reader, then you definitely don't want to miss Avery's story. I loved it and can't wait to read what is next in store for us. I received an arc for an honest review.
