I enjoy this series and this is book 2. I liked the plot and impeding war and I liked Bria and Derek. There were times though it moved really slow and lots of info on bears...almost too much. There is some info repeating but otherwise an enjoyable book.

This is book 2 in the series and it was just as good as book 1. Though the same as book 1 I feel as though there should be one more chapter, to sum up........ Spoiler don't read of you haven't read the book What happened to the twins ? Do they know about their dad? Why weren't they there to help \ protect him? How many lives were lost? Shouldn't Shoshanna have said something at the end after everyone went into the cave? But i guess this is what makes got read book 3 . I hope I get the answers I'm looking for in the next book.

Derek and Bria's story is full of intrigue and danger, as well as love. The writing kept me tied to this book until the end. I personally feel the bears and lions should share the cave, but it's not up to me. I highly recommend this series.

A sexy and suspenseful continuation of this shifter war series. I enjoyed the characters and the pace of the story. It was a little predictable story wise but other then that it was a good PNR read.

Derek is a ranger and meets his human mate in the woods one day. She wants to show people that shifter's exist but that could be a big problem. On top of that, the war between the bears and lions is still a big issue!!!! Such a fantastic couple, loved them and can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Bria knows that bear shifters exist. Returning to Deep Creek, she meets up with Derek Poole. Meeting his mate is a welcome, but unfortunate thing. the war between the bear and lion shifters is still on going. Hopefully their love will be able to survive the war.

The Shifter Wars heat up when a woman investigates the mysteries surrounding a fierce breed of man and exposes more than just secrets Bear shifters exist. Professor Bria Lane has known this since she was a child. Now she's returned to the forests of Deep Creek to prove it to the world. She has no idea how close she is to that proof in ruggedly sexy park ranger Derek Poole. Intimately close. But uncovering Derek's wild side comes with a shattering price. Like a magnet meeting metal, Derek is drawn to Bria. His destiny. His mate. So beautiful and so vulnerable. So dangerous, too: an encroachment of lions, vengeful and vicious, is closing in and they're ready for war. Now is not the time to be distracted like a lovesick cub. If Bria reveals the truth of the Deep Creek shifters to the world, she'll bring out the worst of both sides. But Derek can't hide his secrets from the love of his life forever. He knows they're playing with fire—and that when passion runs this hot, this reckless, someone's bound to get burned. Review: Always a sucker for a good paranormal/shifter romance, so I really enjoyed this story. I had seen the first book in this series and had wanted to read it but I was too busy at the time, so this one came up and I had to grab it. It is book two but it seemed that other than the up coming war theme running through them, that they could be read as stand alone titles. I was never lost or confused. Also, I had never read this Author but I liked her storytelling and style. One thing I liked about the story was that Bria is actually looking for shifters. She happened to see one, which turns out to be Derek, when she was a child and has never forgotten. I thought her view on whether they were more beast than man and interesting twist too. I think Bria and Derek made a good couple, the heat was there and there was just enough tension and issues to keep them interesting. I would have liked to see more action when it came to the battle near the end of the story. And what is the deal with the lion twins and one pretending to be the other, I was a little confused there. Maybe it will be explained later. I would definitely read more of this series and Author. 3.5Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the publisher.*

n the Shifter Wars series, the war has begun, and by the end, there won’t be a clear victor. Pursuing the Bear is the best in the series so far. Bria as a child witness a magical event which lead her to her future career. Now to make tenured in her professional field, she must utilize what she seen as a child. To do that she must go back to the forest and hopefully gain more knowledge of the paranormal event which may change everything wished for. I think some people may even relate to the Bria character. Besides having the pressure of making tenured, her over achieving parents who are also Professors is putting the pressure on Bria to make a name for herself. But once she returns to Deer Creek and meets ranger Derek Poole all the pressure in a way was off. I like how Derek was the shy type that knew what he wanted, but didn’t come off to strong. You could really tell that Derek wasn’t one of those alpha bears. But as soon as Bria was caught up in the war between the lions and bears Derek whole persona changed. Pursuing the Bear was a fast pace and well developed tell. Even though this is the 2nd book for the Shifter Wars series, this book can be read as a stand-alone.

Shifter War is about to break out and Bria is about to be sucked into a world she could never have inagined!!! Bria Lane may be a young professor but her university isn't exactly Harvard and her employment is more about sexual equality than any real academic prowess on her part. That's not to say she is not up to the challenge, but with parents like hers, you get why even being the 2nd Stephen Hawking was never going to be good enough for them! Add in that her newest grant is to look for Shifters and there is no way she wouldn't have been laughed out of the office. She had a close encounter with shifters in Deep Creek when she was a child and she knows that they'll be able to boost her profile in Academia. Derek Poole is one of the Park Rangers and a woodworker extraordinaire but he's not in the market for a mate just yet. Yeah will fate has decided otherwise! Bria is a handful and trying to keep her out of harms way when war looms is a full time job on its own!! Add in keeping his shifter status from her from fear she'll turn his people into lab rats and Derek is suffering with major mixed feelings towards his mate. Bria and Derek are a wonderfully balanced pair. And whilst they each have various excuses for hiding the truth from the other, I do think they were as bad at hiding secrets as each other. Bria hates liars but that's just what she did when she filled in her sabbatical application. Derek at least is trying to protect Bria and his people! Otherwise they were wonderful together and the easy friendship/romance they have was beautifully written. I loved the backstory that weaves them together. The lions are led by Max and the odious twins, Mason and Marcus and I'm dying to see them get their comeuppance! I can't wait to see what happens next!!!
