Queen of the Damned [Orginal Motion Picture Soundtrack]

An hour's worth of contemporary metal constitutes the soundtrack for the vampire movie Queen of the Damned. The unusual element that lifts this collection beyond being a typical various-artists album masquerading as a soundtrack is the inclusion of five specially written songs by Jonathan Davis and Richard Gibbs that relate, at least slightly, to the film. Davis and Gibbs have persuaded a who's who of metal vocalists -- Wayne Static of Static-X ("Not Meant for Me"), David Draiman of Disturbed ("Forsaken"), Chester Bennington of Linkin Park ("System"), Marilyn Manson ("Redeemer"), and Jay Gordon of Orgy ("Slept So Long") -- to sing their songs. The rest of the album is dominated by tracks from Warner metal albums by the likes of Static-X ("Cold"), Disturbed ("Down With the Sickness"), and Deftones ("Change [In the House of Flies]"), plus a few tracks licensed from other labels and metal bands, including Dry Cell, who preview their forthcoming album with "Body Crumbles." The result is an overview of the metal music of the day, with its crunching guitar chords, pummeling drums, and harsh vocals singing desperate lyrics. The gothic, threatening tone of the music is appropriate to a horror movie, but the soundtrack also does double duty as a genre sampler.

This is one of the best cds that I own ive gone through like 2 of them already. This CD does not get the credit it deserves it is outstanding. Not the regular run of the mill soundtrack. Jonathan Davis of Korn wrote some of the songs and bought people in to do them and it just turned out phenominal. This cd got me into rock and metal. The creativity and i guess other worldlyness of it if that is a word makes me feel completely differently than any other cd ive owned. And again i say it didnt get the recognition it deserved as being truely ground breaking creative unusual and every song on there is just awesome. That is hard to find. Everyone should own this cd.

I bought the CD not long after I saw the movie. I still give it a 5 stars even though I personally feel one of the songs doesn't quite fit. (Papa Roach's "Dead Cell" -- Sorry! I feel it just kind of sticks out like a sore thumb.) But I just love all of the other songs. I think Jonathan Davis and Richard Gibbs did such a great job with the 5 songs they wrote for the film. They're aggressive, slinky and sexy at the same time -- (or my perception could be colored by Stuart Townsend's lipsynching performance). And I love the Kidney Thieves "Before I'm Dead" and Static X's "Cold". -- Really great soundtrack.

I saw the movie around the time it came out and I liked it a lot! Half the reason I liked it so much was for it's soundtrack. So If your a big fan of gothic or industrial rock you'll enjoy this soundtrack. A song that stood out for me was "Before I'm Dead" which is by The KidneyThieves. I'm a huge fan now. I didnt know of them until I saw the movie and wondered who was singing that last song until I descovered The KidneyThieves. I thought the song went well with the movie too!

This soundtrack has turned out to be one of my favorite CD’s I own. If you are into rock/gothic music then you really need to buy this album. The soundtrack has many fantastic songs including “Before I’m Dead” by Kidney Thieves, after I heard this song I fell in love with this group and bought their own CD. The music really gives you this mysterious vibe when you listen to the lyrics of some songs. There are many great artists such as: Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Deftones, and Papa Roach. Of course there is going to be some songs that I dislike because of the singers, like Tricky and Linkin Park because their music just don’t blend with the movie. All together I love this soundtrack and it’s a must own.

This cd is awesome...it has the greatest band all together on one fantastic Cd. It great! I give it 5 ***** because if i was stuck on a desert island and could only listen to one cd this would be it. Especially the kidneythieves

All I have to say is wow! I do not have this soundtrack yet but I plan to get it soon...The music is intoxicating and fit into the movie really well... Lestat would be pleased!

I knew I had to have this soundtrack as soon as the movie ended. ''Slept So Long'' is by far the best song on the album.

This soundtrack fullfils the job of a soundtrack, to accompany a movie. The movie was OUTSTANDING, I disreguard what anyone says on that! The soundtrack has, like many say, a melodic tone. Each song captivates you and brings the characters back to mind from the movie. Songs like ''Forksaken'' and the others written for the movie are great songs that agree with what a vampire would think or feel. You must get this CD!!!!!

In the song Slept So Long, I really could feel the mysteriousness of the peice. The song incorporates "Egyptian Feeling" music, while keeping the rock/techno side.

this is probably one of the best soundtracks i have ever had the priviledge of buying. a beautiful array of artists even including some of the lesser known bands who are amazing as well such as the kidneythieves and earshot. definitely 2 bands you should check out. in fact, kidneythieves just released their 3rd full length album "live in chicago" that is definitely worth checking out

In this Cd Jon Davis of KoRn Writes almost every song on it. All of the songs are incredibly deep and go along incredibly well with the movie and book. A little known band is also featured on this Cd, The band Kidney Thieves.Kidney Thieves' Lead Vocalist Free Dominguez's voice soars in the song 'Before I'm Dead' Which is featured at the end of the movie. Kidney Thieves have many other songs on Cds such as Trickster, Zerospace, Or more recently Their Live in Chicago album, which i highly reccomend to anyone. All of These are available at the Kidney Thieves store at www.kidneythieves.com

I bought this CD only because for a few choice songs, but after playing the entire thing, the CD as a whole is very good. The music is dark and haunting, just like the movie. A perfect match.

The greatest soundtrack I've ever heared!! Why are you waiting? BUY IT!!! Hey, can anybody tell me where I can find the lyrics?

Though I was somewhat upset that the movie was not told in the way it was suppose too I did enjoy the music and the beautiful face of Stuart Townsend though the "real" Lestat has no comparsion. Enough about the movie, the music is blood pulsing...very good...much better than that lousy rap they call music.
