Leslie Staub's paintings have been exhibited in galleries throughout the United States. In addition to picture books, she illustrated Lives: Poems About Famous Americans. She lives just north of New Orleans, Louisiana.

I love this book. The illustrations are beautiful and the text is thought provoking. I only wish that a bilingual version would be published so I could have one copy to read to both English and Spanish speaking students.
