About the Author

Beth Oberholtzer is a graphic designer, illustrator, and photographer from Lancaster, Pa. The daughter of a Lancaster County farmer whose Mennonite ancestors crossed the Atlantic in 1727, Beth greatly admires Pennsylvania German handcrafts, vintage textiles, and works of art and utility made from repurposed materials. Although she has designed hundreds of books, this is the second she has coauthored.

Rachel Thomas Pellman and her husband Kenny own and operate Rachel’s of Greenfield where she designs and produces kits for small applique and pieced wall quilts, ornament kits plus punchneedle embroidery kits. Rachel has spent many hours in Amish homes learning the stories of Amish women, the histories of their quilts, and current trends in Amish quiltmaking. She has authored and co-authored numerous books including Amish Wall Quilts, The World of Amish Quilts, A Treasury of Amish Quilts, and Tips for Quilters. Other ventures include designing several lines of fabric with P&B Textiles. She teaches and lectures at local guilds and has participated in educational programs at Sotheby’s and American Folk Art Museum in New York.
