Overview

“I highly recommend the entire series to vampire fanatics who understand the powerful relationships with vampires. In this series, there is NEVER a dull moment!" –Cassandra's Lost in Books on Lucifer.

Ireland—a land of magic and fantasy, of fierce warrior kings and fairy mounds . . . and, of course, vampires who’ve been around for nearly as long as those beguiling fey.

Brilliant and ambitious, Quinn Kavanagh was aiming for the top, even before he was turned. But now, as a powerful vampire lord, he’s driven by the demands of his blood, compelled to conquer and destroy, to defeat Ireland’s criminal ruler, and make the territory a better place for all its vampires and humans alike.

Smart and beautiful, Eve Connelly was a graduate student with life’s endless possibilities stretched out before her. She knew nothing of vampires and didn’t care . . . until she watched two of them murder her beloved brother. Now she’s driven, too. But she doesn’t want to help Ireland’s vampires—she just wants to kill them.

Bound together by love and hate, Quinn and Eve will risk everything to bring down the bloody regime of Ireland’s current vampire ruler. But in order to find revenge for Eve and the ultimate power for Quinn, they first have to learn to trust each other. And that might be the most dangerous thing of all . . . .

With this book, the war in Europe has truly begun after Raphael had made his forays to France since the last incursion by the Eurovamps. The Americans will no longer tolerate the Eurovamps trying to force their way into ruling America. Book #12 in the VIA series, QUINN is set in Ireland which has become the new front line in the battle for supremacy. Quinn was born in Ireland, but grew up in America so in effect, he is the melding of both cultures. Playing the long vampire game, Quinn with Raphael and Lucas’s help, returns to Ireland to oust the evil and very criminal ruler Lord Sorley. As he sets about establishing himself in Dublin and Howth on Sorley’s turf, Quinn runs into a women bent on the destruction of vampires. Her brother had been involved with them in some underworld activities until they took him out. So revenge has become Eve’s life as well as her difficult relationship with her mother. Much of this book focuses on Quinn getting to know the lay of the land and establishing himself as a new power. His relationship with Eve starts out and stays very prickly as she is as stubborn and fiery as her red hair would suggest. To Eve, vampires are the epitome of evil and like many vigilantes, she has only a narrow focus. Sleeping with the enemy takes on a whole new meaning for her so that Eve has to face some very difficult facts if she wants to be with Quinn. Quinn Kavanagh has the usual vampire arrogance as he is always trying to leave the little woman at home and out of the fight, but Eve has other ideas. While it’s true the vampires have superior strength and special powers, they always tend to underestimate the pesky humans. As a couple, Eve and Quinn seem to have a lot more of the rough than the smooth than some of the others in this series. It will be interesting to see how things progress in the battle for essentially world dominance now that the terms of engagement have changed.

I love this series...and you will too. D.B. Reynolds vampires never dissapoint. Her storytelling makes them step off the page. It's soooo very hard to wait until the next installment. If she's a new author for you I HIGHLY recommend you pick up book one, mute your cell, grab some wine and settle in for a most rewarding experience. Many, many thanks to Ms. Reynolds for completing this gem during a difficult time.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! The cover has the usual very sexy vampire though you can’t tell he’s a vamp! This is the 12th book in the Vampires in America series, and it is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content! Well not mandatory, you will love this series a whole lot more if you read them all including short stories and novellas in order! I don’t like not knowing about an event when it is mentioned! This is one of my favorite series! I don’t own them all yet, but one day I will! This is Quinn’s story of taking over Ireland and his Eve. The story was a page turner as always in this world! I couldn’t put it down! I like the alpha male vampires in this world and their protective side! Quinn is definitely a powerhouse with a fiery side as far as vampire lords go. Eve is a strong woman out for revenge against the vamps who killed her brother. Can they work together to accomplish both of their missions? I guess you will have to read it to find out because I’m not telling! D.B. Reynolds always tells a fantastic story with all sorts of twists and turns in her complicated worlds that you can’t help but love! I can’t wait to see what her genius-self cooks up next! I highly recommend to any Vampire fans who want action-packed romance with fierce vamps!

D.B. Reynolds continues her sexy and exciting Vampires In America (VIA) series with Quinn, book 12 in the series in which smart and sexy graduate student turned vampire hunter Eve Connelly is determined to avenge her brother’s murder and getting closer every night until the gorgeous newcomer from America Quinn Kavanagh derails her plans and makes her second guess the motives behind her killing spree. Quinn was a natural born leader even before he became a vampire and didn’t hesitate when he was presented the opportunity to takeover and rule with a fair and honest hand over his native Ireland. Finding a mate and falling in love though, was not in his plan, much less falling for a fierce redhead human set on killing his kind. Can they learn to trust each other in order to achieve both their goals? A VIA release is cause for celebration alone, more so after over a year since the last full length installment was published. With Quinn, Reynolds delivers an exciting and sizzling hot story with fascinating characters, an engaging plot and more of her paranormal world building. Hint, hint… I loved Quinn’s enhanced magical ability! Even though Eve and Quinn’s relationship was rushed by vampire politics and shrouded by secrets, their attraction was undeniable. Quinn is book #12 of the Vampires in America series by D.B. Reynolds. It is standalone paranormal romance told by several points of view with a happy ending and introduction to the next book.

3.5 Stars! I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed in Quinn's book. It was good but lacking in the romance department. One of my biggest draws to vampire books is the mate aspect to the story. You do get that, but it's muted by Quinn's destiny to become a vampire Lord. We get to see how Quinn and his cousin Garret are turned and part of the journey to present time where he is taking over his own territory for the first time. Right from the start he meets Eve and is instantly intrigued by her, but for most of the book he behaves as if he could take her or leave her despite feeling a connection to her. Eve is also instantly drawn to Quinn but she also doesn't know he is a vampire. Ever since her brother was killed by two vampires, she has spent the past 5 years hunting his killers and taking out any who she feels deserves to die. I don't want you to think I didn't enjoy this book, because I did. I just wanted so much more between Quinn and Eve. It didn't meet my "fated mates" desire in this book. I will keep reading this series, I just hope the author will give a bit more focus on the couple in the next book. ARC provided by NetGalley.
