Living with the man he loves and helping to raise his two children isn’t something Scott McGregor can be sure he deserves—at least not until he learns the truth behind the nightmares. Uncertain whether the knowledge will fan the flames or finally bring the fire under control, Scott heads to Phoenix, only to realize time and distance may not have been enough to prepare him for what he discovers at the home of the only other firefighter to survive the Prescott blaze.
For Rob Hammond, the last two months have been a preview into heaven. With his children home, and Scott in his bed, he finally has the family he’s always dreamed of. All he has to do now is help Scott through the last of the shadows left from his close encounter with death. If Rob can keep everything on an even keel, Scott will conquer the PTSD demons that haunt him and finally get the happily ever after he deserves.
Twelve years ago, nothing could have prevented their relationship from imploding, but as each of their self-imposed barriers falls away, the battle lines shift, and Scott and Rob need each other as never before as they fight to make Mountain Shadows a home for their family.
One man is certain things will work out—the other is afraid they can’t. Only one of them can be right.
About the Author
Raised in California, Laura likes it hot, which explains why she ended up in Arizona via such diverse places as Japan, Maine, and Florida, and many more places in between. After retiring from the US Navy, she found a niche working for land management agencies, including the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management. Though she has held many jobs around the world, her favorite was working and living in Grand Canyon National Park. Working (and eating) in New Orleans was a close second. You will find many of her books are set against the rich backdrops provided by coastal Louisiana and northern Arizona. When asked how she started writing, Laura tells of waking on Boxing Day a few years ago, with a woman named Elena MacFarland yammering in her dreams, demanding her story be told. Despite never attempting to write fiction before that morning, Laura ignored all of the holiday visitors and the Highland Destiny series was born. She doesn’t believe it was a coincidence that the great grandmother who died when Laura was just a baby was named Elena MacFarland. Destiny does play a hand. Laura became a full-time writer in 2012, and now she spends her time writing, watching her Arizona Diamondbacks, and working on her very own version of the Willow Springs Ranch in northwestern Arizona. She is a multi-published author of erotic romance, mystery, and urban fantasy and her books can be found at all major online retailers.

This is the Fifth and last instalment of this series. Scott is decides to open the letter left to him by Pauline when he bought Mountain Shadows. He isn’t sure he is ready to face the demons of his past but in order to move on with Robbie and have his happy ending he knows he has to. Robbie wants to find out who is behind the fires and stops in at the fire chief’s office as he wraps up his job in Flagstaff he is happy they are about ready to make an arrest until he figures out who they plan to arrest. I will admit I expected more from this book. I’m not disappointed at the outcome I just figured there would be more action, whereas the story was mostly reconciling things. Having said that the story is very sweet, romantic, (who doesn’t like a man going to bat to prove his man’s innocence?)And the sex scene in the garage.. whoa that was a page flamer!
