This novel begins with striking detail and astounding portrayel of dragons as they ravage a village and its countryside. From there on, the book keeps hitting you hard. Dragons are smart and brutal, humans scared but brave in the face of danger, and all the others trying to figure out what's going on throughout the mayhem. Dorn and his fellows are an odd troupe and this tale is told with spellbinding speed, keeping the reader on his heels as the story plummets the characters into disaster after disaster. Great beginning to an inevitably great trilogy.

This book starts out so great. the reader is introduced to a group of heroes who very quickly get swepped off on an adventure. Each of the main characters are far more interesting than most D&D novels..However their is one character who comes along later who just bored me to tears.I would actually have to skim past the chapters with this character..The book gets bogged down in to much dragons talking to each other..its worth the 7 bucks but dont expect much.
