Raiders of the Lost Bark Sparkle Abbey Book Summary: Mel's enemy may be barking up the wrong tree . . . But someone is about to become a killer. Melinda Langston, amateur sleuth and Bow Wow Boutique owner, finds herself "Glamping Under the Stars" with a blackmailer, Orange County's hottest new gourmet pet chef, Addison Rae. But before Mel can put an end to Addison's strong-arming, the chef is found dead. Mel is just one of many suspects who had motive to snuff out the demanding chef. Was it Redmond, the angry sous chef who detested working for Addison? What about rival chef, Pepper Maddox? The glamping chef gig was hers until Addison blackmailed her way into the job. And then there's Asher, a charming fellow camper whose past relationship with Addison isn't the only secret he's guarding. Mel's not one to tuck tail and run, even when it looks like she may be the next victim. Review: I once again enjoyed this series. I was glued to the book from the start. I will admit that I have missed some of the book since Kitty Kitty Bang Bang, and I was sad that Mel and Grey broke up. I now have to read all the books just to get caught up. I find the stories to have enough suspense to go along with the interactions of Mel and Betty. I always enjoy how the story flows and is easy to read. The characters are well developed and well written. I find that the story line is not gory and there is little cursing. I love how the characters interact and the writing is smooth. Each time I read one of the books the more I like the series. I also believe, since I have done it, that you can jump into the middle of the series without missing a beat. I would like to thank Net Galley and Bell Bridge Books for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone. Stories that make you smile from the beginning are always a delight to read and author Sparkle Abbey’s upcoming release, RAIDERS OF THE LOST BARK, is a fine example. Between protagonist Melinda Langston and her quirky assistant, Betty Foxx, you can’t help but laugh sometimes despite the fact that murder abounds. Melinda, owner of the pet accessories shop Bow Wow Boutique, reluctantly agrees to go to ‘Glamping Under the Stars’ with Betty. In reality, Melinda is really going to see Addison Rae, Orange County’s hottest new gourmet pet chef, who is blackmailing Melinda. It seems Addison has some incriminating letters Melinda desperately wants. But before Addison comes through on her promise to turn over the letters, she’s found murdered. Since she and Melinda had heated words earlier in the day, Melinda becomes a prime suspect in her death. Melinda has to sniff through a long list of Addison’s enemies to find the real killer. Question is, can she do it before she or Betty become the next victim? With a cast of eccentric characters that are likable and well-developed, the story moves at a good pace holding your attention. The setting draws you in and adds depth to the story. The protagonist is strong-willed, but shows a vulnerable side readers can relate to. The interaction among the core cast of characters enhances the story giving it a feel of friends you’d enjoy being around. RAIDERS OF THE LOST BARK is a pleasant tale with twists and turns that can be read as a standalone. A blend of mystery, mayhem, romance and laughter makes this a captivating story. FTC Full Disclosure – A copy of this book was sent to me by the publisher in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review. The thoughts are completely my own and given honestly and freely.

Title: Raiders of the Lost Bark - Pampered Pets Mystery 8 Author: Sparkle Abbey Published: 3-2-16 Publisher: Bell Bridge Books Pages: 344 Genre: Mystery, Thrillers & Suspense Sub Genre: Animals, Women's Fiction, Amateur Sleuth, Cozy Mystery ISBN: 9781611946956 ASIN: B01CE5WP9W Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley . To keep her mother's old affair from breaking her father's heart Melinda "Mel" Langston, owner of the Bow Wow Boutique, is going to pay the Piper or in this case Addison Roe, the daughter of the contestant Judge her mother had the affair with. Addison has agreed to turn over the love letters Mel's mother wrote in exchange for a recommendation and a heartfelt forward written by Mel for Addison's new Pet Cookbook. Mel joins her boutique assistant Betty Foxx on an exclusive fundraiser for the Animal Rescue League. A weekend of Luxury and Gourmet Food for both the pampered pets and their human caregivers. Things are cut short when Addison is found murdered and suspicion falls on Mel. As she searches for evidence to prove her innocence she discovers she is not the only one on the fundraiser being blackmailed. Now the question is which one killed Addison and why? Mel's sniffing out the killer, but will killer stop her first? I can't help but love the Pampered Pet Series. As I read the interactions between the pets and the humans, I can't help but chuckle they have such strong personalities and to see their humans sometimes mimicking them. The combined writing talents of Sparkle and Abbey bring all the characters alive for the reader, both the four legged and two legged characters. I cannot wait to see outrageous thing Betty will do next, her exuberance for life lifts you up and carries you along for the ride. Get yourself a cup of tea or coffee, whatever your preference, find a comfy chair and settle in for a few hours of pleasure and fun. 5 out of 5 Stars

Sparkle Abbey's Pampered Pet Mysteries are always fun to read, particularly if you love dogs. She is great at depicting the quirky nature of pet lovers and the varied natures of their furry loves. When you add murder, more than a little comedy and a touch of romance - voilà the result is a great cozy. Mel's former pageant days seem to always come back to haunt her. Addison Rae, the daughter of the pageant judge who Mel's mother had an affair with, is blackmailing Mel. In exchange for her recommendation and a foreward to Addison's cookbook, Addison will give back Mel's mother's letters. In order to get the letters back, Mel joins Betty her employee and friend on a "glamping" expedition for pet owners and their pets. The trip promises luxurious accommodations and good food, but all Mel can think of are the letters. It doesn't come as much surprise when Addison is murdered. Unfortunately thanks to a few overheard arguments and Betty's enthusiastic "help" Mel becomes the chief suspect. Raiders of the Lost Bark is a light mystery that is big on laughs. Betty's over the top antics and cougarish ways make for plenty of groans, winces, and more than a few bursts of laughter. Mel is more down to earth, but doesn't always make the smartest decisions. Thankfully, she has a lot of help. If you are looking for a fast fun read that has plenty of cute pooches and quirky characters, look no further. 5/5 I received a copy of Raiders of the Lost Bark from the publisher and netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review. --Crittermom

Great Series! This is a great book; this is the eighth book in the Pampered Pets Mysteries series by Sparkle Abbey. Melinda Langston is the owner of Bow Wow Boutique and amateur sleuth. Mel is being blackmailed by the hottest new gourmet pet chef, Addison Rae. When Addison is found dead, Mel becomes one of the suspects since she was seen fighting with her. It is up to Mel and her friend and assistant, Betty to put their sleuthing skills to the test and find out what really happened. If you are looking for a great mystery that will leave you guessing until the end, then you need to read this great book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Melinda Langston and Betty Foxx will surely make you laugh in this terrific book. "Glamping Under the Stars" is an ARL Fundraiser and Betty and Mel are ready to roll in a lavish RV. With their dogs by their side, the ladies set out to enjoy the weekend, but unfortunately for Mel, things take a turn for the worse when Addison Rae continues to blackmail her. It seems there is more than one person Addison is blackmailing so it's no surprise when she turns up dead. Who killed the blackmailer? Why is Mel the main suspect? You will definitely get your giggle on reading this quirky story. I am fairly new to this series but I will definitely be recommending the series to others. I like the style of writing the authors bring to the reader and I enjoy all the humor they weave into the story. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my fair and honest review.
