For Avery Montgomery, the devastation of losing her parents in a tragic accident has left her completely shattered. As she begins to pick up the pieces of her once perfect life, she uncovers a secret that will forever change her-she's adopted!
In a search for answers, Avery ventures to Portland where she rents a room from Jonah, a quirky artist who quickly becomes her best friend. His house puts her in close proximity to the metaphysical shop run by her birth mother, the free-spirited Marianna Hutchins. Avery enters The Crystal Moon fully intending to confront Marianna, but instead she chickens out and inquires about a job. She's hired; yet remains leery about confessing her secret.
As Avery settles into town, she has an embarrassing encounter with Gabe, the incredibly attractive man who works a few doors down. Despite the awkward introduction, there is undeniable chemistry, but after a recent heartbreak all he's looking for is friendship.
Everyone deserves a second chance. Will Avery get hers with a new family? Will Gabe allow himself a second chance at love? Will they embrace their new relationships, or will they simply decide to take a rain check?

About the Author
Gypsy's love of reading began as a child when her mom would take her to their local library and let her bring home stacks of whatever she wanted. This often lead to Gypsy reading with a dictionary nearby to explain words she didn't understand, but knew her mother wouldn't approve of.
In her spare time she likes to explore photography, make jewelry, eat chocolate, and mix magical potions.
When she's not writing, you can find Gypsy hanging out at home with her husband and best friend, their three children, a neurotic dog, and four chickens. However, Gypsy knows her family will not be complete until she brings home a peacock and a goat.

Rain Check is definitely worth having a book hangover for! Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down. The writing is flawless and keeps the story moving along at a steady pace. You feel for the lead character, Avery and the tragedy and turmoil that she's going through in her life. Of course all this is lightened with a little help from her friend and housemate, Jonah. I have decided that every woman should have a "Jonah" in their lives. I loved this book and highly recommend it. Can't wait for Gypsy Rae Choszer's next book, kudos.
“Rain Check” by Gypsy Rae Choszer 5 out of 5 stars Emotional, moving, heartwarming, and delightful are all words I would use to describe “Rain Check” by Gypsy Rae Choszer. If that meets your criteria, then don’t hesitate over the buy button…just click it and get to reading! The last few years have been traumatic for Avery. Looking for a fresh start and searching for a person she never knew about before has led her to Portland. Now she’s standing face to face with a new facet of her life and she’s terrified to move forward. One humiliating new encounter with a hot guy later and Avery’s more lost than ever. Will she be able to face her past and embrace her new future or will she let her fear win and lose it all? I found Avery to be refreshing. She is a very realistic and down to earth character that I can completely relate to. I found myself thinking that I would have reacted in the same way she does in every situation she was in. I love that Choszer made her life messy and hard and REAL. The things she has to struggle through could happen to anyone and that made the journey even sweeter. This is a character that I can definitely invest in and root for. Gabe has demons of his own. Not every break up is cut and dried and I appreciated that Choszer gave him his own journey as well. I like that he was honest with Avery in the beginning and valued her enough to tell her he needed some clarity. Watching their love story unfold was endearing and I fell in love with them as they fell for each other. His family is a priority and that is awesome in my book. He’s a hard worker and dedicated to the things that matter to him. He is definitely a perfect mix of everything you want in a guy! I love Jonah. As Avery’s new roommate and quick best friend, he is hysterical and brings the funny to every scene he is in. He never takes himself too seriously and helps to keep Avery grounded. He is the light to some of the more dark elements in the book and he always brought a smile to my face. Choszer had written a story well worth the read. It’s a story of pain and loss, the struggle to move on with your life, and what it means to find happiness again. The journey that Avery and Gabe are both on (individually and together) is quite beautiful and honest. My heart ached at times and rejoiced in triumph at each small victory. The flow is great, the pacing is spot on, and I couldn’t put it down. I can definitely recommend this one and I look forward to reading more from Choszer. *I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.* Shannon, My Secret Book Spot
