About the Author

John H. Carroll was the youngest of seven children and was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1970 where he was kept in a dresser drawer with the clean socks. Luckily, he wasn’t kept with the dirty socks or else he might have grown up to become slightly warped. As a child, John spent most of his time wandering through the Mojave Desert in an attempt to avoid people. He would stare at the sky, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. One of his favorite memories is watching his dad build the fuselage of Evel Kneivel’s skycycle in their garage. One of his least favorite moments was watching that skycycle fall into the Snake River. (Not his dad’s fault and he has documentation to prove it, so nyah) As a teenager, John spent most of his time driving wherever he could in an attempt to avoid people. He would stare at the road, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. He was the captain of the chess team, lettered in golf and band while in high school, and wasn’t beaten up anywhere near as much as one might imagine. As an adult, John spends most of his time staring at a computer screen in an attempt to avoid people. He stares at the monitor for hours, imagining what it would be like to explore different worlds. Occasionally, he looks around to see what’s happening on planet Earth. Quite frankly, it frightens him. He’s just going to do his best to write as many books as he can before aliens disintegrate humanity for being so irritating. Emo bunny minions surround John at most times. He is their imaginary friend and they look to him for guidance. At one point, they took over the world. No one noticed because they left everything exactly as it was. They gave the world back after a week because it was depressing. The Ryallon Series is his most popular endeavor into the field of writing. His Stories for Demented Children have lightened the hearts of many strange children and adults. He writes in the evenings and weekends whenever possible.

The world of ashan is a wonderful place. Proud knights strolled the emerald forests of irollaan, pious knights guarded the grand walls of the gryffen empire, studious wizards pored over ancient scrolls and spells in the oasis strewn desert of the silver cities while grim necromancers worshipped in the land of heresh. But there was a fifth and alternate realm...sheogh. the prison realm of demons. It is said that every one thousand years, the walls guarding the realm break, plunging ashan into war. In the latest demon war, a powerful artifact was forged...the blade of binding. It is said whoever holds this blade may bind demons to their will. A covenant of wizard, human and elf alike swore to keep this blade from evil hands...but those who wish to steal its power never ceased to wait...and bide their time.

~~The sweat laden covers on my bed felt heavy and hot. I kicke them off taking a deep breath, again the dream had come. But? Why was it Peter who took my life. I ignored the confusion that plagued me like the dream itself. Sighing, I rose and swung my feet off the queen sized matress. I grabbed a change of clothes and heade to the shower. <P>~~"Mornin' Jewel," it was sneered, and slightly annoying but a welcomed change from my brother's usual greeting. I looked at him, his navy blue eyes watched me in an eerie way. <P>"Hello to you too Sam." I replied sharply, not in the mood for his teasing. "I'm heading to Peter's early. Mom and Dad know." I added. With that I headed out the door. <P>Maybe not Peter's house but to the old park. I clattered down the old alleyways thankful it wasn't like those movies where people are kille in alleys. I watched a small gray bird flutter off the rooftops. Possibly to the park as well. No bird, or person, welcomed me as I found the old yellowed slides.

Chapter 2 <br> Fear periced Spottedkit's gaze. She stared at the jaws, knowing of the danger she was in. Even Silverkit was shaken and she was always as tough as her father. The red fox snapped its jaws at Silverkit. Silverkit let out a scream as it lunged for her neck. <br> Spottedkit slashed a claw at it. She shrecked as it periced through its red fur, slicing through flesh. <br> She let go. The fox turned on her snapping its jaws. It was about to get her when Leafsong jumped on it. Shaken by shock, it allowed Furyfang just enough time to bite its neck. Leafsong let go and rushed the kits into the med den. "Go!" She screamed. The plunged in as soon as Mistheart ran out. Spottedkit just a glimpse of her jumping on the fox that attacked the two. <br> Brackenkit was still on the floor. Unmoving. Spottedkit heard yowls and screams as more foxes came. They seemed to have a clan of their own. Spottedkit and Leafsong gasped as they heard Waterstar scream, "They attacked the nursery!" Spottedkit ran out, ignoring Leafsong's yowl. She leaped on the fox, slashing into its flesh. It swung around, facing her, its teeth bared and yellow eyes burning into her skin. She swiped a unsheathed paw at its face, destorying one of its eyes. It yowled in pain and lunged for her neck.

She yawned. It was a beautiful morning. But it was also battle time. She looked around. Her pups. Midnights gaze softened when she saw them. Leaf and split. Thorns son and daughter. She looked gently at them they didnt know war. But she did. Midnight silently padded outside her den. Into the camp she drank some water from the little stream that ran across the camp then stood up and flicked her tail. Claw, bracken and mist ran up to her. "Follow me and watch my back-but keep quiet for lupas sake!" They all nodded and followed midnight through the forest. Midnight grimaced. Today her pack would be killed or saved. It all rested in her paws. She motioned for the others to stop and peeed out from behind a bush. There in the meadow that had been fought over so many times, was a werewolf in his human from. But she was wary that there was only one. She beckoned mist forward. Mist crept torward her then tasted the air carefuly. Then mist flicked her bushy tail 10 times. Midnight understood. 10 more werewolves. Hiding somewhere to get them if fighting started. And if it did midnight feared they would have to run. She ttok a deep breath. Okay time to go she thought to herself. She took a step forward out of the trees. And little by little. The patrol made its way to the lone werewolf. "Greetings o mighty one. I fears we cannot fight much longer niether of us. Why cant we share this land?" Midnight pleaded with the werewolf. "Why! We need more food then you we live for eternity you dont its that simple" claw growled. "Not if your killed by me." In a flash the werewolf grabbed claw and lifted him up. Then mist and bracken jumped at him. At once the clearing exploded into fighting. She ran to camp trying to get there before the werewolves

(To deerleap: yes in fact i did) Shimmerkit hid beneath a bush. Sadness pierced her gaze. Her mother had died. Her sister older, Gnarledfang, was the new mother. Shimmerkit waited until Tarkit came into the clearing. "So," Tarkit said, quitely. "I want to climb this tree." He pointed his claw to a tall tree. "No," said Chinchkit. Suddenly Tarkit raced up the tree with Chinchkit. "Tarkit no!" Tarkit slipped And chinchkit fell onto Shimmerkits arched back. "Oof," she said, landing in the mud. "Tarkit!" She scolded. "Hey, all!" Called Tarkit. "Lets do what i want to do," began Tarkit, "lets explore."
