Meant as a tribute to his selfless and courageous mother, Kathryne Irene Marquis (nee Morlang), "Rainbow Rocks" tells the true story of the childhood of Kalen Wilfred Marquis, (nee Lonneberg), who grew up along the Pitt River in the Fraser Valley Region of British Columbia. Too fanciful and child-oriented to be nonfiction and yet far too detailed to be children's fiction, this story is a work of creative nonfiction that is meant to chronicle, archive, thank, and inspire. The author, as a bibliotherapist and teacher-librarian, believes that everyone has a story to tell and that there is incredibly transformative power in the telling and retelling of our life stories. However subjective and shifting, our internalized stories bring together the past, present, and future in ways far too compelling to ignore. After reading this fanciful work, perhaps you'll be inspired to tell others who you are and where you come from. What was your childhood dream and, most importantly, are you living it?
