Marlo Lanz seems set to become well established as a romance author, if Raincheck is anything to go by. It is competently written, with a compelling plot, and 3-dimensional characters. Romance novels are not something I read that often, so I was pleased that this one was definitely a welcome break from thrillers and horror. The steamy love triangle in this flirty romance, will have readers asking the questions: “will they, wont they?” and “who will she choose?” many times throughout the story. Liv is torn between two men, and she is stuck with them both in the confines of a tour bus. As you can imagine, tensions are high and they sometimes bubble over. Will Liv choose the manipulative, yet seductive Ty, or the more reliable, and handsome Gabe? You will have to read to the final pages to find out.

Those with a fondness for romance novels with a little bit of extra spice, will certainly fall for Raincheck by Marlo Lanz. This adult novel has plenty to keep the romance aficionados interested and engaged right up to the last page. The writing was decent and the pacing was spot on, with plenty of plot twists and tension that made it quite the page turner. The book focuses on a tour of the band Raincheck, fronted by the charismatic ladies man, Ty. He finds his head turned when Liv board the tour bus with her friend Gabe, a member of the supporting band. What follows in an intense and racy love story that will keep you guessing until the final pages.

The real standout of 'Raincheck' by Marlo Lanz were his characters, particularly Ty, the self-absorbed, apathetic, exasperated lead singer of an ironic rock band. He falls madly in love with fellow lead character Liv, simply because she has no romantic interest in him whatsoever. Is this real love, or can Ty simply not handle that this is a woman that hasn't fell at his feet like all the rest. He is infuriating, arrogant, manipulative and embarrassing, but I still really liked him – it was all his faults that made him interesting, and it gave him great scope for character development. His relationship with Liv (or lack thereof) challenges him, especially with her friend Gabe always being around. It was a fun story, pretty well-written, and certainly will keep you occupied on a rainy afternoon. Plus who doesn't love the intrigue of a love triangle, especially one as scandalous, complicated and salacious, as this one.

Awesome! Who doesn't love a good romance... Ty, a rock star with BRAINS. Liv, a book worm with a naughty side. Marlo offered characters that were intriguing and sexy. I couldn't put Marlo's book down! Raincheck is a fun page turner, great for road trips or an evening with a bottle of red.

For part of my reading challenge this is another book I ended up with to challenge myself outside of my regular reading comfort zone. Not one I’d ever usually read, but I have to say I enjoyed it. Engaging writing from Lanz and characters that helped keep up the pace so that each page flew by quicker and quicker as the plot progressed. It’s definitely one of those reads once you get going you don’t want to stop, so make sure you have an hour or two spare before turning the first page. All in all it was an unexpected gem, might even check out more from the author.

Raincheck by Marlo Lanz is a fun little romp of a book about the rock and roll industry, and all of the crazy relationships that are part of that industry. From Liv who just wants to tour with her friend Gabe's band Raincheck, to Ty, who is downright cute and sexy, this is a mashup of fun characters and enough sexual tension to drown in. While the characters may come across as a little immature, they are still interesting, if only for their interactions with each other, and how manipulative they can be. Ty is probably the worst of the manipulators, but ultimately Gabe is too, to some degree. With these kind of complications, Liv doesn't know what to do, or who to fall for. Overall, a fun book, that takes a less than serious look at rock and roll, relationships, and the ties that bind. A light read for a fun diversion.

Friends With Benefits Can a friend’s brother actually live with you and love you without anything else going on? Friendships can be hard to come by so Liv didn’t want to do anything to mess up their special bond. Going out on tour with Gabe’s band for a few months sounded like so much fun; spending time with your friends and listening to some great music. The headlining band, Raincheck, was led by a very good looking guy named Ty. Ty had been through a lot and wanted nothing to do with this girl who surprised him in his bunk on the bus. All Liv was doing when confronted with a very angry Ty was taking a nap in Gabe’s bunk before they left for the tour. The only problem was Liv had picked the wrong bus to get on in the first place. Between Gabe, Ty and Liv this story kept me engrossed over what and how was this going to work out for them especially since it was Ty who was giving Gabe’s band a break by claiming a spot on Raincheck’s tour? This author wasn’t afraid to mess with my heart because it was broken and put back together so many times that it was exhausting. She also made me hold out for hope and giving me the HEA I was looking for. I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.
