All parents would agree that adequate preparation for life requires a sense of responsibility. Few know how to foster responsibleness, however. Commonly it is felt that one must "teach" responsibility. Punishment, rewards and bribes are generally unsuccessful, as a parent cannot "teach" responsibility, he must give it to the child and let him learn how to handle it.
