“What does BIG love look like when parenting little kids?” Raising Little Kids with BIG Love asked this question on the back cover. As a first time parent, I had to know the answer. Authors Lori Wildenberg and Becky Danielson pack this book with relatable stories and tons of helpful tips as they apply 1 Corinthians chapter 13 to life with little ones. We’re talking practical application, rubber ducky meets soapy bath water as parents tackle issues from biting to sibling rivalry and building confidence. While my perspectives may differ on a few points, I love how Lori and Becky combine their experience as educators and moms to bring encouragement through the difficult moments of parenting. A few of my favorite quotes? I’m glad you asked. "If you want to be heard and obeyed, then move closer and speak softly." "Plan time into your day to play." "Don't allow the child's mood to control the parent's mood." That last one is huge. Especially in seasons of teething and ear infections I can let the discomfort of my itty bitty one set my mood or the atmosphere in my home. No longer! If any of these tips strike a chord with you, I’d encourage you to check out Raising Little Kids with BIG Love. You won’t regret it! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Parenting isn’t easy! I remember days I wanted to run away. The 1 Corinthians 13 Parent: Raising Little Kids with Big Love honestly addresses the challenges parents face without laying guilt trips. Lori and Becky have dug deeply into God’s Word to provide practical advice, fresh insights, and much-needed encouragement. Highly recommended. – Marlene Bagnull, author, conference director, mom, grandmom

This book is an excellent guide to parenting young children -- the authors use 1 Corinthians 13, the well known Biblical chapter on love, to describe the attributes we should strive to model and nuture in our children from a young age, and how we can go about accomplishing this challenging task. When discussing each attribute, they provide many examples of issues that come up which the reader can relate to, with useful approaches. It is helpful that they recap each chapter with the key points, provide questions to consider, highlight a few parenting tips, and a close with a prayer. I highly recommend this book for parents, teachers, grandparents, and anyone who works with children.

What a beautiful and brilliant idea in approaching parenting by using the Bible's 1 Co. 13 chapter on God's perfect picture of love. We now have here 2 wonderful resources in Raising Little Kids With Big Love and Raising Big Kids With Supernatural Love, to equip parents in applying God's wisdom, practical application and techniques, and support from Lori and Becky, both experienced moms and educators.  The study guides are an excellent way to dig in.  They could be useful in small groups, Sunday School, workshops, or moms and dads together at home.  I liked 2 separate books that were broken down into age groups.  I purchased both books for each of my young adult daughters.  I plan to give them the books when they begin their own parenting journeys so they will have these wonderful tools to help equip them in the Godly loving raising of their own children.

I love the concept of approaching parenting according to the attributes of love described in 1 Corinthians 13, and I love even more Lori Wildenberg’s and Becky Danielson’s reminder that we as parents need to practice these attributes too! In Raising Little Kids with Big Love, Lori and Becky are balanced, relatable, and, most of all, wise guides through just about every parenting issue I can think of. A practical and God-centered resource.

I read a lot of parenting books but have yet to come across a book quite like this one! What made this book unique to me was typical parenting books tell you there is one way to parent and if you don't parent that way, then you have to change. This book instead, explains the different types of parenting and the strengths of each one and when each kind is appropriate to use depending on the situation (controller, coach, consultant...) I loved how this entire book was focused on LOVE! So powerful to apply that to your parenting and the results you will achieve and see with your children. Each chapter provides a different aspect of love based on 1 Corinthians 13 and how it relates to parenting. The authors provide scenarios, strategies, and ideas to apply in each chapter -- there are just so many great ideas! This is a book you will want to reference often as you go through the different stages of parenting. Most of all, I loved how the authors wrote as if they were talking to me as a friend. There is so much more I say about this book -- but I just suggest you buy it for yourself. You and your family won't regret it!

There's no shortage of parenting books on the shelves these days, but those that earn a place in the "useful" category rise about the stacks. Raising Little Kids with Big Love takes parents from power struggles to principles right out of 1 Corinthians 13, the Love Chapter. Lori and Becky share from their own varied parenting experiences and their perspectives as educators. Each chapter equips parents with tools and truths to raise children with confidence and encouragement. Time spent in the pages of Raising Little Kids with Big Love is time well spent.

Raising Little Kids with Big Love by Lori Wildenberg and Becky Danielson is a must-read for Christian parents. In each chapter, Lori and Becky provide tips to help parents live out the characteristics of love described in 1 Corinthians 13. The authors close each chapter with questions for deeper reflection, practical parenting tips, and a prayer. As a busy mother of two, I am thankful I took time to read this very practical book. It armed me with tools to help my days go smoother and challenged me to show my love to my children in more effective ways. *I received this book for free but all opinions are my own.
