I am a yearly purchasher of the Road Atlas. It offers me up-to-date changes in the roadways, and also has a more detailed local map for the biggest and most popular/populated cities. I like the summaries of each state and how the atlas points to different points of interest to potential tourists. In times when money is often "short" - my family can always find a get-away that is close to home, and often a great best hidden secret of a place...all in all - the atlas is always a good buy

Rand McNally has THE BEST road atlas and maps, hands down. You don't even need directions--just follow the maps. I buy one every few years, just to have an updated copy. It was invaluable on the road trip I took to Texas in 2009. The map features were so helpful, especially the rest area icons, and it was great to be able to know exactly where I was in the middle of Alabama while driving the scenic but somewhat eerie, "Twilight Zone-ish" interstate route 20. The city maps are equally helpful and detailed, very easy to follow. I like the clarity of the print on the maps, as well. For all the details, they remain incredibly easy to read (and I bought the regular print one, not the large print one), with clear printing, icons, and roads. Museums, colleges, and national parks are also clearly visible, even with the tiny print! The maps Triple A gives out can't compare, as they have skimpy road details, and nowhere near the info on the Rand McNallys. The price is good on this book, better with a coupon, best at K-Mart (as long as they have the road atlas in stock). If you're driving anywhere in the US, the Rand McNally road atlas is the best to have.

Thank you to Rand McNally. On our recent cross-country road trip the atlas helped me teach my daughter to navagate (without the aid of or dependency on electronics) from home in Fort Worth, TX to Salem, MA and back again. I feel safe putting her on the road - knowing she can get where she needs to go - even if she has to resort to maps.

i am disappointed in this atlas. our previous one was much more user friendly. this one seems difficult to navigate through to find info i need.
