About the Author

Ashley Suzanne has been writing for as long as she can remember. As a youngster, she was always creating stories and talking to her imaginary friends. Thankfully, her parents also carried this love of fiction, and helped her grow into the bestselling author she is today. When Ashley isn’t coming up with her next story, you’ll most likely find her on the couch, telling her husband all about her new book boyfriend or spending quality time with her two gremlins . . . er, adorable children.

"We're the ones who are gonna make it- we're forever." Rian never really belonged to the other kids. She was far different from everyone, starting off with a hippie mom. She was bullied by the other kids until Garrett came into town. An army brat and was used to moving around, Garrett was her savior. They developed a friendship and were really very close to each other. Garrett became her best friend, her confidant until his father was assigned to another base. When Garrett left, Rian has no other friends. So, she tried her best to fit in. Her mother got married to a drunk, and her life was just spiraling down. It took some years before their paths had finally crossed again, but everything was different. There were regrets, guilt, betrayal that was standing between the two of them. Would their love be strong enough for a second chance? ♥ MY THOUGHTS: Rian is a strong character, she can be a little frustrating sometimes, but I can’t blame her. She had been through a lot for a young age. She had experienced enough loss and abandonment that it made her built walls around her heart. But this girl is really, really tough. As for Garrett – who can’t love this guy? He’s an amazing character, another addition to your book boyfriend list. He’s hot, sexy, and cares a lot for our girl. He (or should I say Ashley) knows how to make the readers swoon, and pant with his words. It’s one heck of a rollercoaster ride: the ups and downs, the twist and turns, and the heartaches. It wasn’t a dragged at all, it was perfectly paced with great characters. I have always loved second-chance romance, and this was just perfect for my addiction for it. ♥ RECOMMENDATION: For readers who loves strong female characters, alpha-male, second-chance romance and great sex.

Raven by Ashley Suzanne 5 of 5 Stars If you're looking for warm and fuzzy, this is not the piece of literature for you. However, if you're looking for a tale of personal growth and determination, crack it open and enjoy! Raven is so far from your normal HEA that, in my opinion, it barely classifies as a love story. Rian (LOVE the name and the spelling) experiences more pain and heartache in her first seventeen years than most people experience in a lifetime. Death, heartbreak, abuse, and loneliness seem to plague Rian everywhere she goes. Her love, Garrett, ends up being just out of her reach time and time again so Rian decides to move away and make a new life for herself after everyone she loves gets snatched away from her. The ache that this young lady must have kept with her was excruciating for me and I pitied her because she seemed to encounter everything that could possibly break her down, and yet she kept fighting to thrive.  After an unfortunate event led to Rian discovering her love for a good fight, she decides to try it on a professional level. During her hard core training, Garrett walks back into her life after an incident at a night club landed her in the clink. Not only does he support her decision to join the world of MMA, he even assists with her training. I would LOVE to have his tattooed sexiness train me in the way that he trains Rian..... If that's not motivation and stress relief, I'm not sure what is!! But even when all seems to be going great for the childhood sweethearts, someone has other plans for them.  I read this book from beginning to end without stopping but a single time to cook supper for my family. It was the first book in a while that was able to hold my attention with such an intensity that I continued feeling that after effects of the turmoil contained within the pages even after I completed the book. Not only is the plot one of those that will draw you in and keep you guessing, the characters are extremely life-like and are certainly deeper than the one-dimensional beings that I've read about so frequently in the recent months. They're not rich, they don't have fancy things or live in big cities. They're normal, small town people who make mistakes and have to work to make ends meet. Rian and Garrett have been through hell and back and yet they continue to fight for each other and for making their relationship work, regardless of the obstacles.  Even though everything ended up being wrapped up all nice and neat, I wouldn't mind seeing more of these two and the life that they made together. I received a copy for an honest review. Ashley Suzanne never ceases to amaze me with her endless talent. Raven is her latest work after the incredible Destined series and Raven rocks my socks. A new twist on MMA fighting and romance with the plot twist that Ashley is known for.  After almost throwing my tablet across the campground, I pulled on my big girl panties and finished it. Rian and Garrett and now my new favorite couple and I was sad to see it end.  I can’t wait to see what else Ashley has in store for her readers and I can guarantee everything she brings us will be fan-flippin-tastic!

Review- Raven Rian just can’t catch a break. She was bullied from a young age because of her boy name until Garrett came along. Garrett quickly became her friend and put an end to the bullying. Too bad at age 13 she lost Garrett due to him moving to another town. About three years later Rian gets a second chance to be his friend, and more, when her mother dies and she has to move to another town with her Aunt. Garret spots her as the new kid in school. They quickly become best friends again and then so much more. Rian’s luck just keeps running out. Garret had already enrolled in the army before she came back into the picture. Since he is a year ahead of Rian, he will have to leave her so she can finish her last year of high school. Rian is crushed but will wait for him to come back after basic training. NO LUCK AGAIN for Rian! He will be gone longer than that and at a most inconvenient time when she has lost everyone and just needs him. She feels abandoned and decides to leave and start fresh with her life since she has no one left.  Now at age 21 Rian’s new life is a much harsher one. She works at a bar, keeps to herself with no real friends, and sex is just a way to go numb. She also discovers that MMA fighting is a great outlet for her anger and stress. She’s actually gets pretty good at it.  Rian’s lifestyle will cause her to need to reach out to the only people she knows which means contacting Garrett’s family. Is it fate? Garrett has now entered her new life, but what about his life? Will he be around when she faces more hard times in hers?  This book gets 5 full stars from me! Let me just say that I didn’t think Ashley Suzanne could out do herself after the Destined series. Well, I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! I will definitely one click all of her future books. She is just getting better and better with each book. It’s well written. The story is original. It doesn’t follow the pattern that most books in this genre seem to fit into (sappy girl that has a dominant rich boyfriend with a boat load of issues). This book is raw and edgy. You have a female MMA fighter as your main character, which is just completely bad ass! She isn’t your typical quiet mousey-type book girlfriend. She will challenge you verbally and physically. She’s been a loner and has made it through really rough situations, yet she’s still standing and moving forward. Garrett’s a pretty hot character too! There are times in the book where he let me down, but he definitely always came back to redeem himself.  There’s so much more I can say, but I would give away too many exciting things that happen in the book. Stop thinking about reading this book and DO IT! Well worth it! It’s a great read!

***I was given a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review for Nerd Alert Book Love blog*** Rian has to be one of the most bada&& female characters in a book that I've read so far. Rian knew even from a young age that she was different,  an outcast. She spent her young years being bullied because her mom is a hippy, bullied for the way she dresses, bullied for her boyish name. Until she meets the new kid in town, Garrett. Her days become brighter because at the end of the horrible school day, Garrett was always there waiting. Until Garrett's Army dad got transferred to another base and they had to move away. At 13, Rian was heart broken and experienced her first big loss.   "...Everything that's happened in your life has led you to this point..."  At 16, Rian's life suffers more hardship and tragedy when she loses her mother. Rian's life gets completely turned upside down when she has to move and go live with her Aunt. But little does Rian know that it will take another turn when her childhood friend Garrett walks right back into her life.  "...My raven is for me, not anyone else. It's a symbol of being able to be on my own - actually enjoying being alone..."  Just when you think everything is slowly coming together for Rian, she suffers more tragedy in her life. And she is left alone and struggling with how to deal. She does the only thing she really knows how, she spreads her wings and flies.  "...I've proven to myself that I can do anything. In just a few short moments,  my most important fight erases the one from so long ago. It's such a freeing feeling..."   Will Rian finally have a chance to put her life together?  Will she finally find her place in the world and her own happiness?  Or will she just lock away her feelings and get by?  What will happen when after years Garrett walks back into Rian's life again but she finds that sweet country boy is not the man he is today? Will Garrett let Rian back into his life at all or is that door closed for good? Will Rian's world come crashing down again or will she continue to spread her wings and fly?  "...This is my life and this raven's no longer content with being alone and flying solo..." "...This raven's found her home..."  Ashley Suzanne has done it again! She has completely swept me away on an incredible journey full of so many ups and downs, twists and turns, that I sat on the edge of my seat and could NOT stop reading until it was done. I love Rian!  Her strength,  her courage, she moves me. I cried for her while reading even though she didn't.  And Garrett, oh sweet baby Jesus, he has made his way into the top rankings of my list of book boyfriends.  Yes please, I'd like to place an order for my own real life version of Garrett. Oh Ashley Suzanne,  you are brilliant! You completely floored me with the twists in this book and at the end, well NO spoilers, so I will just say absofreakinglutely amazing! I wish I could give this book more than a Nerd Alert A+++ or 5 stars, they are just not enough! This is a MUST read this summer!
