Ravenous by V. K. Forrest

Welcome to the quiet coastal town of Clare Point, Delaware, where the Kahill vampire clan has made its home for centuries. . .and where one vampire's love for a human woman could put their entire world at risk. . .

As a member of his clan's kill team, Liam McCathal helps rid the world of undesirables. It's the perfect job for a vampire of his talents--except that lately, Liam is getting a little too good at it. Which is why he's back home to "cool off," when Mai walks into his antique store and changes everything.

Liam's not in the habit of making friends--least of all with beautiful, exotic human females. But something about Mai ignites a spark he hasn't felt in over a century. When Mai's uncle is killed and her father threatened, Liam takes on a ruthless crime boss and puts every vampire in Clare Point in danger of discovery. But it seems more than one clan in Clare Point has its share of secrets. . .

"A nice formula of suspense, mystery and romance." --Romantic Times on Immortal

Our Review by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson: Ravenous is the 4th book of the CLARE POINT series, and in keeping with the rest of the series, is gripping and intensely suspenseful. While books 1-3 were more of the murder/mystery variety of Urban Fantasy Romance, this installment was murder/mystery with a side of Goodfellas - it had a mob connection storyline that I thoroughly enjoyed.:) After years as an integral member of the Kahill sect's Kill Team - those vampires that the Council dispatches to take care of the human murderers, rapists, pedophiles, etc that they deem too dangerous to let live - introverted, sheltered, and somewhat insecure Liam is back home in Clare Point on sabbatical awaiting the Council's vote to clear his latest actions and return him to active duty. Mai Ricci is a rival antique's dealer from a nearby town playing the dutiful daughter and niece by taking care of her elderly father and uncle. She's tried to stop into Liam's Antique shop several times to check things out, but has never actually met the owner. When she finally lucks out and arrives at the store when Liam's home and working on getting things in order, she gets much more than she bargained for. When tragedy strikes Mai's life in the most unusual of circumstances, she acts on instinct and dials the number on the business card she receives from Liam's store. Having a soft spot for damsels in distress, Liam runs to Mai's aid and thus starts off a chain reaction of life changing events, never-ending questions and undeniable chemistry. With the help of the sect's teenage wisewoman and some other Kahill members with unique abilities and friends in high places, Liam is able to keep Mai safe and unravel the mystery of Mai's uncle Donato and his sketchy past. Full of twists and turns, incredible suspense, steamy romance and fabulous dialogue, Ravenous kept me reading and wanting more. Like the previous 3 installments V.K doesn't give us a traditional happily ever after though it does have an interesting ending. A lot of PNR readers will probably hate the endings to these books, but like the uniqueness Colleen brings to the vampire genre, I love the change up with that aspect as well. LITERAL ADDICTION gives Ravenous 4 1/2 Skulls and would still recommend this series to Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance and Mystery fans who are looking for something different. I can't wait to finish Voracious to see how things end up for our next Kahill.

Another wonderful Clare Point novel from V. K. Forrest. If you love suspense, vampires and hunky men, this is the book for you! Fourth in the series and a wonderful you-won't-put-it-down read. Each book in this series is better than the last and the first was outstanding! Hope there is more to come!

Liam is a hunk to die for! I've read all of the Claire Point tales of Forrest's contempory vampire clan, and I think they blend the best of thriller, romance, and paranormal. Liam is a lethal killer and the human woman he becomes involved with is fleeing for her life--right into his powerful arms. Yum! Lock the doors and windows, turn off the tv and cell phone, and dig out your hidden stash of chocolate. This books will have you jumping at shadows and reading until the sun comes up. Don't miss it! I guarantee that if you read Ravenous, you'll read the rest in the series. Hooked

With all the vampire stories out there right now, Ravenous is different. While the hero is a vampire, the main focus of the story is more suspense. Liam comes home for a break from everything for awhile, and when Mai walks into his shop, he is intrigued. He gets caught up in her life when she calls for help after her uncle has been murdered, and Liam helps Mai figure things out. Ravenous is part of the Clare Point Vampire series. This is actually my first V. K. Forrest book, but I enjoyed this one, so I will be checking out the other books in the series. Ravenous had plenty of suspense, action, and the romance between Liam and Mai was great! This was a good paranormal suspense that kept me reading long into the late hours of night.

Clare Point, Delaware is not just any coastal town. It is home to the Kahill vampire clan who has resided there for centuries. Only in the summer when the human tourists inundate the coastal community is there anyone not an Undead. The Kahill clan differs from ordinary vampires as they die as elders and are reborn as teens with the cycle on-going forever. They possess one gift that also makes them different; their mission is to save God's humans from the undesirables. When they have learned their lessons God will pass judgment on them. Clan member Liam McCathal is the best at the kill so his comrades tell him to stay out of the field for now to insure he does not go rogue after a clean up on Paris. He works at his antique shop while cooling down when an HF (human female) Mai Ricci enters his store, leaving the vampire stunned as he does not even makes friends with female humans, but she has him feeling something he has not sensed in a hundred years or more. When someone murders her Uncle Donato and threatens Mia and her father Corrato, Liam is losing control as he takes on a mob chief and his gang, which threatens the Clare Point community even as Mia's dad conceals something that endangers his daughter and the vampire protecting her. V.K. Forrest provides a brisk unique vampire mythos as the Cahill clan watch over God's children in the hopes He will one day forgive them for hurting God's believers. Sparks fly when the vampire licensed to kill shopkeeper and the HF meet in his store. He knows she is fortunate she does not realize that the hunk she is attracted to is a vampire because he learns he does not want to erase her memories of him. Ravenous is an exciting romantic urban fantasy that readers will thoroughly enjoy. Harriet Klausner
