About the Author

From earliest childhood, Shawna Reppert has had a passion for stories- for reading them and for writing them. She obtained a BA in English with a Writing Option from Penn State University and has participated in numerous writing workshops and seminars given by the likes of Charles de Lint, David Farland and Elizabeth Lyon. Two of her stories have won honorable mentions from Writers of the Future. Previous short stories sold to 10 Flash Quarterly and to Everyday Fiction. Several 'indie' short stories are available for sale at Amazon, and her story 'The Beast Within' appears in the steampunk anthology Gears and Levers 2 edited by Phyllis Irene Radford. Her first novel, The Stolen Luck, came out as a Carina Press e-book in May 2013 and is also available in Audible format It won a Silver Medal for original world fantasy in the 2013 Global E Books Awards and a 2014 Eppie for fantasy romance, proving that it is possible for a single novel to succeed in both genres. Her urban fantasy Ravensblood launched on Halloween 2013 after a successful Kickstarter and she is currently feverishly working on a sequel. There are a number of other works in the pipeline, including another high fantasy-male/male romance and a novel-length sequel to 'The Beast Within' that she describes as a 'steampunk Victorian detective novel with werewolves.'

In college, Shawna volunteered at a raptor rehabilitation center, which became valuable background for her short story The Sword and the Kestrel. Shawna has always had an affinity for wolves, and used to keep a wolf-dog hybrid as a pet, giving her first-hand experience to put the wolf in her werewolves. Her current four-footed children are a Lipizzan stallion and an orange-and-black cat named Samhain. She enjoys Irish social dancing and is an ardent supporter of live Irish music. Shawna also likes to play with the Society for Creative Anachronism and can sometimes be found in medieval garb on a caparisoned horse, throwing javelins into innocent hay bales that never did anything to her.

A Pennsylvania native, she currently lives in the beautiful wine county of Oregon.

Exciting second book in the series – hard to put down! In an alternate universe that has Portland, Oregon as its capitol live people divided into Crafts, Arts and Mundane. Guardians are there to keep everyone safe after the last Mage Wars. The second book of this series begins about two years after Ravensblood ends. Cass is working for Guardians International and Raven, her significant other, helps out on cases when he is asked to. Both Cass and Raven are involved with the task force created to look for the Ravensblood when it is stolen. The power of the Ravensblood must be retrieved from the thief who no doubt wants to use it for evil. There are interesting new characters that make an appearance in this second book as well as twists, turns and surprises aplenty. Will good be able to overcome evil and if so how many, if any, will walk away unscathed? I am definitely looking forward to reading book three when it comes out! Thank you to LibraryThing and the author for the copy of this book to read and review
