Overview

My brother is an idiot. He won the lottery and invested all of his money in a run-down bowling alley. Since he’s barely making it, he moved in with me.

Great.

Having him around the house isn’t the worst thing in the world, but he does make a mess like nobody’s business. My friends Zeke, Jessie, and Kayden keep me sane but there’s only so much they can do.

And it’s definitely not the worst thing in the world when his old friend, Ryker, moves to town.

The second I lay eyes on him, I’m hot under the collar. He makes my body burn in longing and freeze in desperation at the exact same time. When he talks, I don’t listen to anything he says because I’m staring at that hard jaw and those kissable lips like I already own them.

But he’s a bed hopper. A playboy. A heartbreaker.

I’m all down for some hot, sweaty, yummy sex even if it doesn’t have a fairy tale ending. I’ve been down that road before. I know the drill. But with Ryker, it’s different.

Because I know I’ll fall in love with him.

For now, I’ll steer clear of him and keep my hands to myself. It can’t be that hard, right?

Or can it?

I used to really like her books . But they are becoming more and more juvenile . They are to costly for no page's. Last one I'll ever purchase .

I quickly fell in love with this series. I will say its a rollar coaster for emotions and opinions. I loved all of these characters and I can't wait to read book 4. Highly recommend to a friend!

There are so many great things about this book, it is hard find a starting point! I love the intertwining of the siblings point of views showing the relationships from that aspect is so different; it’s just one of the things that makes this book unique. Rae a female who is intelligent, strong-willed, independent, and self-assured maintaining those traits in a relationship WOW finally someone gets it! Thank You, E L Todd, for not turning Rae insecure or spineless because of a man! This book has steamy scenes, heartwarming moments, make you want slab a man upside his head (Rex) moments, and have you screaming Team Zeke or Team Ryker by the end, one thing it won't do is let you put it down! It has everything a great rom-com should and more! TEAM ZEKE

E.L. Todd nail it with “Ray of Light!” This is my first book for this author and I loved it! I was totally drawn in from the start with these characters and the story. The interactions between Rae and her brother Rex is relatable in real life relationships between siblings. Rae and Rex have a special bond with each other and their friends. They do a lot of things with their best friends; Zeke, Kayden and Jessie who have really become more like their family. They will go to concerts, dinners, drinks, outings, and everyone comes to Sunday all day hangouts at their house. One of Rex and Zeke’s friends, Ryker, returns home after leaving town right after graduation. Rae and her dog, Safari, meet Ryker, on one of their walks and there was an instant attraction with both dog and girl. No one told Rae or her girlfriends who Ryker is and what company he is coming home to help take over for his father or that he is going to be the new CEO of the place Rae works. Ryker has always been a player but so have Rex and Zeke. Rex is over protective of his sister, Rae, for his own reasons. But Zeke has other reasons why he doesn't want Rae to end up with Ryker. Zeke is more like a family member, brother, best friend, who's a doctor and always there for them, and that's how Rae sees him. But does he see Rae the same way? Rae and Zeke work together to help Rex makeover his bowling alley investment into a successful business. Jessie and Kayden are Rae’s best friends and do most everything together. E.L. Todd’s words seamless take me away and make me feel like I'm there with all of them, I'm lost in the story and off to the ball park eating hotdogs with Ryker and Rae or sitting laughing to the banter between Rae and Ryker as they get to see what their spark is all about. Or when the whole gang is together now with Ryker is in the mix, does this change the atmosphere between them all or is it business as usual with them all and welcome him in? I really appreciate this author’s talent and her ability to bring the story and characters to life. Oh but wait!! Did I mention the hot steaminess between Ryker and Rae!! Bring your fans, chocolates and whatever else you need while you read this first book in the series!! Because the chemistry, and the kisses…you get the picture, between these two you'll wonder where to get yours! Ha! Seriously, I really love E.L. Todd’s talent, I love great first reads! I know the next book “Ray of Hope” will be just as amazing unlike the examples Ryker gives for sleeping with so many one night stands! You must get this book to see what I’m talking about.

I received an ARC for an honest review. They say you can choose your friends, but not your family. I loved the relationship between Rae and Rex. I also loved the friendships they had with Jesse, Kayden, Zeke and Ryder. That being said, I had a hard time following the story at first, I found the story predictable and I was frustrated at the way Rae And Rex were oblivious to the feelings of Kayden and Zeke, which were made very clear in the story. Also the sex scenes were okay but nothing made me feel like whoa..

Ray of Light by E.L. Todd is the first book in her re-vamped Ray Series. This book is a slow burn, romantic tale of two people who meet-cute in the park with a runaway dog and wind up not only sharing the same social circle but they also now work together. It is also a tale of family and friendship and the trials and tribulations associated with both. This story continues in the next book, Ray of Hope. Rae and Rex are the siblings in the story. They love to hate on each other but will defend the other against outsiders every time. Zeke is the best friend of Rex and another brother-like figure to Rae. Zeke doesn't feel like she is his sister though. Far from it. Jessie and Kayden are Rae's two rambunctious best friends and all five of them get along wonderfully together. Friends and family are so very important to Rae. When Ryker enters the picture, Rae doesn't realize that the hot guy her dog abandoned her for at the park is a friend of her brother and Zeke. Despite their mutual attraction things are complicated with him being a friend of her brothers AND a notorious playboy. Will Rae continue to be attracted to the bad boy bed hopper or will she realize that Zeke is the one for her?

This is an interesting read, Ryker and Rae meet after Safari the dog decides to be Rae’s personal trainer, that did make me giggle a lot I’ll admit. I get that Ryker really likes Rae but I’ll be honest, other than that I can’t see the connection between them especially in the beginning parts of this book. It might just have been my mood. I did enjoy the path that the story took and I am interested to see what is going to happen next. I’ll be keeping an eye on the next book and seeing how the story leads. The humour in this book is tantalising and sassy, I really did enjoy it! I loved this book, it was refreshing, different and I really enjoyed it! It was so much fun to lose myself in this world and I'm glad I stuck with this book. I am so excited for more from this author! 4 stars

A very enjoyable read of secrets, heartache, well-developed characters, a great story-line, friendships, lust, and of course some, hot sex. I volunteered to review an advanced readers copy of this book.

This was a hilarious book. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Rae was a character of her own that makes her stand out. Funny, set and loving all at the same time. Ryker stole her attention from start. These two are a match if only they can't get passed the interference from others. RaeThis was a hilarious book. Once I started I couldn't put it down. This is one of the best books I have ever read! I couldn't put it down. I loved that the dual POVs were from brother and sister ... 2 stories in 1. The banter between the siblings is sooo funny and true to life. I laughed so hard I was crying at the part where Rae sent that text to Rex instead of Jessie ... I'm laughing now, just thinking about it! Then there is the 1 night stand between Rae and Ryker ... HOT! HOT! HOT! This author sure knows how to write an erotic scene. Ryker is a player and has never had a relationship with a woman and Rae is OK with the 1 night stand, because she just wants to get him out of her system, as she has been warned about his reputation by her brother and Zeke. But when Rae says no to a 2nd "night of benefits" with Ryker, he doesn't like it and starts to pursue her. It's hard to tell what is really going on with Ryker (before and after Rae comes into his life), because you don't get his POV. That's all I can say about that without ruining the story for others. And then there is Rex ... what an idiot, but a nice and kind idiot. I sure hope this series gets more into his story or he gets a book of his own. I highly HIGHLY recommend this book because it checks all the boxes in a good book ... laughter, romance, hot sex scenes and really not knowing what is gonna happen next. The author graciously provided an ARC copy in exchange for a honest review.

Ray of light is was great! Seriously can't wait for the next book in the series! Rae is a smart independent woman who meets a womanizer. She uses him for 1 night if fun and then brushes him off, but he seems to be hooked. Zeke is Rae's brothers friend and had a thing for her, but just as he gets the nerve to tell her someone else comes along. Rex, Rae's brother, has his own story going along too. Seems Rae's friend is smitten with him, and he doesn't even know it. This book was funny and flirty with a few heart wrenching moments. Really looking forward to finding out who ends up together!

"Ray of Light" captured the readers attention right from the beginning because it started jumping into Rae's day being exciting and leaving you questioning why Ryker would let her say no and walk away without getting her number. After that the book just kept you wanting to know more about everyone's life, including her brother Rex and their friends. They all are such a great support system for each other and have a great dynamics about them. It just keeps you wanting to know more about Rae and Rex family history, and whether Rae and Ryker would get together. The book was great because it kept you connected from beginning til end. Can't wait to read the next in the series to see what happens.

I loved this book! The relationship shared with family and friends was great! After Rex & Rae's mom dies, 18 year old Rex is left to raise 15 yr old Rae. Rex is very protective of her & not too happy to see things heating up between Rae & Ryker.....And there's lots of heating up! There are so many ways this series could go, & I can't wait to find out what's next!

Fell in love with this book and couldn't put it down. Rae has so much going on in her life and I can't wait to see how things go with Ryker. I also enjoy how things are going with Rex and can't wait to find out if the girl is into him or not. Can't wait to read the next book

I read E.L. Todd’s Forever and Always series and knew that I found another great author. That is why I was excited to read Ray of Light. This story was different, and in a good way. I enjoyed reading about Rae and her personality. She is not the type to beg for love, and when she gave Ryker a run for his money I was shouting “You go girl!” I have read endless books where the heroine falls for a guy to easy. The guy is either with it, or pushes it to the side. Ryker had no idea what he was up against with Rae. Ray of Light was another story that I needed in my book world. I laughed so hard at times, I think my husband thought I was crazy a time or two. You have to get this book! The rest of the characters were great too. Rae has her friends and her brother Rex for her support system. They complete her and only make her stronger. Speaking of Rex, I know there has to be a story soon with him and Kayden. I wanted to smack him in the head to open his eyes and see what was in front of him. With that being said, I was invested in these characters and what they were thinking. Rae and Ryker are sexy and very good for each other. But I have this feeling that there is a little bit of dark that Ryker is hiding from his past. I guess we will have to wait and see in book 2! Ray of Light has a great storyline, and I know there is so much more to come. I stayed with the story all the way through the end. I literally can not wait for the next part of this story! I am not ready to let this one go, just like Ryker has a hard time letting Rae go❤ Found me a new sexy book boyfriend!

Rae of Hope #Ryker This is the first book in this new series by EL Todd , the “Ray series” and being this is book 1, so far I am liking what I am reading. Rae is a woman who seems to have it all- good life, a dog, great job, wonderful family, fantastic friends. When the book starts, her brother Rex is currently living with her while "he's between” at the moment or in other words means he is broke which is how we meet the hero of the story Ryker. Ryker is a guy both Rex and his best friend Zeke knew when they were growing up/kids together until he moved away. He is now back in Seattle and he is renewing old acquaintances. He runs into Rae one morning and their lives will never be the same. There is this instant chemistry, this heat between them yet they didn’t do anything when they met. They let it go but when they meet back up, well sir, both of them feel the heat and start wondering if they should act and fast on this hot and needy chemistry between each other—well they do and guess where they go from there? Spoilers! Trust me when I say it was HOT!!! Only thing is Ryker doesn’t want anyone knowing he is crushing on Rae, his friend’s sister nor does he want anyone knowing he really likes her. He wants to be on the “downlow” While Rae would like their attraction and interactions to see the light of day and to not be a “dirty secret”. Ryker doesn’t plan on them being anytime of permanent thing while Rae thinks they will. Oh the lack of communication will cause A LOT of trouble…There are many twists and turns to this hidden from sight friendship/relationship on top of Ryker building up his business and also renewing his friendships with his old buddies all while making his friendship with Rae into something as well BUT There are secrets being held back between Ryker and Rae, feelings that lead to someone getting unintentionally hurt. This book ended on a cliffhanger so now I am on pins and needles waiting for book 2. This is one story you do not want to miss because of all the complex emotions and passions that spill out. It is one that will keep you entertained and the characters will draw you into their world. My Rating: 4.5 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

Ray of Light was a unexpected read for me and I'm happy I had the opportunity to enjoy it! This is Book #1 of 3. Rae and Rex, brother and sister, are the main characters of this story. It's an interesting twist that the it's told in both of their POV's. The two of them have an extremely close relationship as they've had to rely on each other for quite some time. The banter and dynamic between the two is funny. In comes Ryker, a fellow classmate of Rex and his best friend Zeke. There is an instant attraction between Rae and Ryker, being the protective brother he is, Rex doesn't want his sister to get involved with Ryker knowing his past. Rae is willing to give him a try. I love all of the characters in this story and how they are intertwined in each other's lives. They look out for one another like they are all family. It's fun, lighthearted and sexy at the same time. I can't wait for Part 2 and 3 to see what is in store for all of them. This was a great find!

This is a light, fun and laugh out loud book. It's the first book in the Ray Series. I devoured this book in one sitting. The story is told in dual POV, but this book is a little different. Rae and Rex, who are brother and sister, are the the main characters and it is told in each of their POV'S. They have a small group of friends that the story centers around. Rae begins a relationship with Ryker that is very complicated. Rex is having financial issues that Rae and Zeke are helping him with. Zeke is secretly in love with Rae. Kayden is secretly in love with Rex. This book has it all. I found myself laughing to the end. I can't wait to read the next book to see where this series goes. I have been a fan of E.L. Todd's since I read her Forever And Always series. I will read anything she writes.

This story is the introduction to a group of friends who are more like family: Rae, her older brother Rex, and their three friend Jessie, Kayden, and Zeke. When Ryker, Rex and Zeke's friend from high school, returns to town to take over his father's business, the attraction between him and Rae is immediate. But Ryker isn't the type to settle down or see the same woman more than once so Rae finds it best to be just friends to avoid damaging the group dynamic. This story was a great set up for this series. This group of friends believe that they know everything about each other but, because of the fear of losing each other, there are so many secrets that they keep from one another. I can't wait to see how this series unfolds when these six put everything on the table. *This is my voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy*

Expectations for this Ray of Light were very high and this book definitely exceeded everything I hoped for. It definitely has some sultry parts but the building of the relationship between the two main characters is what is truly addictive. You feel like you get to know them and are going through it with them. The passion is palpable and leaves you wanting to know all the details. I cannot wait to read Ray of Hope to get some questions answered and see where this book goes from here. A MUST READ for any romantic hopeful.

Interesting twist in this story is that we get the POV from Rae and Rex, brother and sister. Rae is strong, confident and smart. She is pursuing her passion in chemistry while she struggles to find love. Rex is struggling, he won the lottery and invested in a bowling alley but his business is struggling. This sends him to live with his sister which is hilarious. This relationship is very strong even as they fight like cats and dogs which is very realistic. Rae crosses paths with Ryker, the first man she seems to have had a real spark with but he’s a one-night stand kind of guy yet this connection is undeniable. As they start to build something, she finds out he’s her new boss. Add in some strong supporting characters – best friends, Zeke, Jamie and Kayden – and you get a complete world to devour. This is part one which has given a strong foundation and opened up several interesting questions about this cast of characters. I’m excited to see how these relationships evolve.

Much love for Rae and Ryker! Loved this book! It's presented in multiple POV format, but done in a way that's not confusing and actually enhances the story. Rex and Rae have a great sibling relationship (if you count how messy he lives), but there's also a pseudo-parent relationship between them since he stepped into a parental role when their mom passed away. On the surface, the basic premise sounds like a predictable story: a young woman who wants love but is afraid to find and embrace it, and the guy who who is the king of one night stands. But what makes this good is that Rae and Ryker already know each other, even though it's been years since they've seen each other. They've should have been nothing more than a hook-up for each other, but it slowly becomes more, and that's when it becomes real for them and that morphs into something neither one of them were expecting. But we get so much more than just Ryker's and Rae's story, we get the whole group of friends who all get along with each other. Their stories also weave together in this book, but they somehow manage to not overshadow anyone else. I love the banter between the characters, and the chemistry is fantastic. We haven't learned everything about Ryker, and I can't wait for those hidden layers to be exposed.

wow I loved this book. I was so excited to get this book and read it. I'm a big fan of e.l. todd. Ray of light was an awesome first book in the series. The characters made me connect with them. I wanted to know more about everyone right away. I didn't want the book to end. I have to admit ryker makse me want to know more about him. why he is the way he is? what makes rae different to him? Is it all about him just winning the girl over someone else? I need to know more. Rae has me intrigued also. How does she not see something that is right in front of her? I usually hate the female character is stories but I actually like her. I love that she doesn't let people walk all over her. That she stands up for herself and thinks for herself. Now for the story line. I like it. This is my kind of read. I have been in a book funk. I haven't had a book keep my attention but I read this book in less then a day. I enjoyed it and I cant wait for more. I need more. I think everyone will enjoy it. I didn't get bored and I wanted to know what was happening with all characters, not just the main ones.
