Our church has been giving full text Bibles to our first grade students which they had no chance of being able to read on their own. We switched to the Read & Learn Bible so that the children would not become frustrated and/or disinterested in their very first attempts at reading their Bibles. The Read & Learn doesn't pretend to be an academic translation or even a paraphrase of Scripture. It is made up of the core stories, with colorful illustrations -- helping the children to both see and read some of the most memorable illustrations of God's ongoing relationship with humankind. If you need a gift Bible for any pre-K through 3rd grader, this would be a good choice to start them on a lifelong journey of reading and enjoying Scripture.

We received this bible along with several other picture bibles for our son's 2nd birthday. This is by far the best. It has great pictures that draws our son in and an excellent choice of which stories are included with lots of details without being too overwhelming. I love it and have made it a birthday gift for many others. I have to admit, I have even learned from reading this Bible and have gone back to my own bible to get more details!

We purchased this book, not realizing until later that we had the dvd/cd-ROM that goes along with it. It's really nice and a step up in detail and understanding of the bible stores that we read in the Beginner's Bible we purchased for our Pre-K school year. The stores are easy to understand and give just a smidge more education behind the story to keep the child interested without boring with over-whelming details. Thank God there are companies like this one that care what goes into your child's mind, body, and soul.

We read this book together as a family every night. My 5 year old loved it. It had perfect words for little ears to understand. The stories were short and explained the story perfectly. This is a great Bible for Kindergarten or earlier. Our family loved it! We are looking for our next Bible to start now!

The so called "stories" that are in the Bible are not stories, rather they are the history of the earth and of the people that G-D used to bring things about in the manner in which He wanted them to turn out. We all went to Sunday school, and listened to the teacher tell us Bible stories. Calling them stories gives them an aire of falsehood, much like a fairytale. All that is missing from the Sunday school setting is the teachers saying, "Once upon a time", and, "they lived happily ever after

I like this bible for our children. It has more detail than other children bibles that I've seen yet it's still child friendly. I love that it has a discussion guide for the parents to use as well. It's a good study aid for the whole family. I do wish that it had more study questions and even craft ideas to further engage the children.

We purchased these for 3-year-olds starting Sunday school. There are a few too many words on each page to hold their attention right now, but they enjoy the stories and the pictures. The boxes with more info for parents are great! I'd definately recommend it for ages 4 and up!
