I’m not normally a fan of short stories. However, if every short story were like this one, I might be a convert! Blaise is in her 40’s and is adjusting to life since her daughter has left home. She’s on the bus one day when she notices a hot stranger who is not a normal passenger. It’s an uneventful ride however, as she gets off at her stop to peruse her local bookstore. There, she comes face to face with the hot, young stranger. As they bond over a love of erotic novels, Blaise and Guy (the guy) discover passion and attraction that they didn’t expect. But, as events progress and secrets are revealed, we find that these two strangers are more intimately connected than we know. For a short story, this packs quite the punch! I mean, it really takes you through not only a lot of plot (which is rare for a story this short) but also an entire range of emotions while reading. I mean it did a spectacular job at building lust and want between Blaise and Guy. It was incredibly erotic and loved the buildup, which again surprised me for a story of this length. I found this book to be engrossing and when I got to the end, though I was satisfied that this story was told well and pretty completely, I was sad for it to end. It was definitely written by an author who I, for one, will be keeping an eye on. Great story. 4.5 stars. Reviewed by Sara Squared for Crystal’s Many Reviewers *Copy Provided for review*

Read To Me is an enjoyable erotic romance novella that will easily spice up a reader's summer afternoon. Author Nona Raines weaves a sexy tale about an unexpected chance meeting between two people that leads them to share a sensuous night together. The reader is easily drawn into this delicious short story as they follow forty-four year old Blaise Blankenship as she bumps into a sexy Latino man on a bus ride to her favorite bookstore, only to once again bump into him when she was browsing the erotica section. Blaise and Guy share a love for aged erotica, and as they spend the afternoon reading in the bookstore, their deep connection leads them to share a steamy and passionate night together. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this delightfully naughty erotic romance novella that features an older woman - younger man scenario. It is a beautifully written love story that has realistic characters, witty dialogue, a believable storyline, a full gamut of emotions, and enough steamy sex scenes that definitely makes this novella a worthwhile page turner. If you are looking for a fun erotic romantic novella to wile away a steamy summer afternoon, then look no further, Read To Me is sure to be your quick and enjoyable afternoon delight.

In just a few pages Nona Raines has given us older women a decadently delightful way to spend the afternoon. From its realistic heroine, to the fantasy-like feel that permeates most of the story before reality rudely enters the picture, this story sucks you in and leaves you wishing for your own afternoon delight. Blaise is a woman in her early forties who found her life comfortable, if a bit unexciting. She likes order and routine and the small family she's surrounded herself with through this routine bring her comfort. With her daughter's upcoming nuptials though she sees a future of loneliness where she'll be firmly on the spinster shelf and seeks one last moment of craziness. Seeing a sexy younger man on the bus lights her fire and fate contrives to bring them together in a bookstore over their mutual love of erotica which leads to a night of sensual delights. This encounter is extremely empowering to her and has her fully embracing the moment. She'd love more than this one night but self-doubts have her walking away. Like any good romance though fate once again intervenes in an unexpected way..... This story is told from Blaise's POV and her self-esteem issues are easy to relate to. She's self-deprecating and brutally honest at times but that made her even more likable. It was refreshing seeing an older woman take control and I hope to see more stories like this. My only issue with Blaise is her tendency to assume the worst when it comes to men and fidelity, but considering her background it's understandable but still a bit frustrating. We don't get to know the hero quite as much unfortunately. We learn some tidbits about Guy but it's not until late in the story that his background is fully disclosed in a surprising twist of events. He's definitely sexy and charming and just what Blaise needs at this point in her life. This was ultimately a story of female empowerment that I enjoyed. The character was one to admire and her journey to HEA both steamy and believable. Ms. Raines crafted a story that was like chocolate in that this small package was a decadent delight that leaves me craving more from her in the future.

Book provided by author in exchange for an honest review. This is a well-written short story that manages to capture the feelings of lust, desire, emotional connections, uncertainty and miscommunication, and even though this is only 65 pages, not one piece feels overdone or fake; it's easy to imagine this scenario really happening somewhere out in the world. After Blaise's last relationship (that resulted in her getting pregnant), it was easy to understand her reaction to what she found the morning after she and Guy got it in. I liked the way everything was resolved, even how Blaise and Guy ended up being more closely connected than anyone knew (but not in a creepy off-limits way).
