Overview

What would you do if your perfectly planned life was suddenly turned upside down by extrasensory forces? What if the one person who could understand and help you the most was your brother's intolerable best friend?

Shayla Cardon, a teenage girl in her senior year of high school, discovers a secret community of people called readers when she develops unusual mind-reading abilities. Her family's mysterious past, missing relatives, and her father's long absences all make more sense as she learns about the hidden reader world. As a rare and highly sought-after female reader, she embarks on a journey of suspense and romance while learning to use her abilities, culminating in a duel that will ultimately shape her destiny.

About the Author

Ms. Hayward grew up in a small town. Although she was put in the gifted English program when she was nine, she didn't think she could ever write a book. So she had a career in the medical field because it was 'practical'. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology.
She worked in a hospital lab, then quit so she could raise a family. Her five children are her greatest challenge and joy in life. After her children were born, she wrote stories late at night to escape the stress. Then her husband bought her a laptop for Christmas and told her to publish a book. Her love of writing was reborn and brought back her childhood desire to write and publish a book.
In 2011-2012, she spent a year doing a writing/coaching class with a professional editor and found out how much she'd forgotten about grammar. Writing has become an obsession and stories fill her life with fun.
