From the moment he moved in...
It was hate at first sight.

As a plant-loving homeowner, I take particular pride in my gardens. So, when I came home to find several of my flower beds trampled by my new next door neighbor, sparks flew.

And not in the sexy sort of way.

Jackson Reid was everything I hate in a man. He's rude and overbearing — and did I mention he's a lawyer?

He's also a single dad and soon I began to see, behind all that arrogance, he's also incredibly patient and caring. In fact, many of the things I hated about him melt away and I'm left, not just liking him.

I think I might be falling for him too.

But, like most adult relationships, we both came with a past and Jackson's baggage may destroy more than our budding love affair if we're not careful.

Being neighborly just got a whole lot more complicated...

I haven't read the other books in this series but I decided to read this one as a standalone. For anyone in this same situation, let me tell you that you can definitely enjoy this book without having read any of the others. However, having seen the way this group of friends interacts, I imagine it would be really nice to read each of their stories. And I might do just that. Ready or Not caught my attention because of Jackson. I was drawn to the idea of a single, loving father as the main character but as I got to know him, I realized he was more than that. On the outside he is the hardworking attorney who's always been focused on providing for his son. But he is also funny and witty and very sexy when it comes to Liv. Liv on the other hand is a free-spirited hippie chick. During their first interactions I felt like there was not enough spark. Luckily, things picked up as the relationship progressed and Jackson was able to break down her barriers. He was definitely my favorite character of the two, although she was very likable as well. *I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Let's start with I absolutely love this series and it is one of my favorites for sure but I unfortunately didn't love this book as much as the others in the series. It had all the elements which I liked from the others but I didn't feel the deep connection as much, because everything escalated too quickly. Liv the free spirited friend meets a hot dad of one of child patients then all of a sudden he's her jerk neighbor, where there was supposed to be tons of fire and water angst but it went from hot guy to angst to dating way to quickly to feel the chemistry brewing between the two. Then as the start dating their love went from 0 to 300 as quickly. I'm all for love at first site but with this there was supposed to be a buildup with the characters but since it was so fast it lost the depth of the connection between them for me. Besides that, I adored the story line and all the other elements of the book. Jackson just wants to start over fresh in a new town with his son Noah and the last thing he wants is to start something with someone who is a bit different. He has been there done that. What he wants to do is find the nice perfect charming neighbor next door type of girl instead. He does get the neighbor but she's wrapped in quite the different package then he intended. Liv and Jackson may be polar opposites but the love of Noah pulls them together. Liv hasn't always has the best blood family so it's easier to have fun then settle down, but with Jackson its different from the beginning. There is an instant spark that grows to love and they quickly realize the true definition of what family really means. Like I said I did like this book just not as much as the others but I do LOVE the series.

I love The Ready Series by J.L. Berg and when I got the chance to review this book, I was so happy :) Well, it didn't disappoint. The story is definitely interesting and captivating and it is full with twists that will keep you guessing :)  I loved the beginning of the story when Jackson and Liv met and they were acting like kids around each other :D That was definitely a lot of fun with all the antics they pulled at each other :D But after that, when they finally started seeing eye to eye, it was definitely a great romantic story :) I enjoyed seeing how each of the characters changes little by little without even recognizing it so in the end Jackson and Liv just fit perfectly together. Jackson is definitely a delicious, somewhat dominant male with an amazing tender and romantic side :) He is responsible, serious and a man with a lot of things to juggle at the same time: his son, his job and his personal life. I loved seeing him as a father and I was definitely able to feel how much he loves his son. On the other hand I was also able to see him as this deliciously attractive man who falls for his next door neighbor who is the exact opposite of himself. Liv is a free spirit. She loves life and she is the exact opposite of Jackson. In a way she is like a modern hippy :D And that's what makes her so much fun and attractive for Jackson and his son :) On the other hand Liv is scared of love and a close relationship with a man. In a way both Jackson and Liv have scars from their pasts but together they manage to overcome every obstacle they come against. In a few words the book is very good. If you enjoy romantic stories with a pinch of hot scenes, then you should definitely check out this story. Even though the book is part of a series it can be still read as a standalone, although you will definitely enjoy it more if you read the whole series :)

Another excellent book from J. L. Berg.  How she continues to come up with stories that can make me laugh hysterically one minute and cry the next is beyond me.  I loved Liv's quirky character.  I also loved the practical jokes between Liv and Jackson.  Bringing Jackson's son, Noah, into the mix and showing how hard it is for a single father to juggle career and family while trying to understand puberty was awesome.  That in itself made me laugh because I've been there with three sons of my own.  Noah brought back some memories.  It was also nice to have the characters from the previous books intertwined with this story and to be able to see how their lives are progressing.  They all make for a great homemade family.

I have always, always loved JL Berg's story, and looking forward every time she is about to release a new one. Just like the rest of the Ready Series, I was captivated, I swooned and fell in love with Liv & Jackson. Liv may came from a wealthy and powerful family, but she prefers her simple and hip lifestyle. She's a fighter and a hard-worker. She's the type of character you will easily like, and there was really no reason not to. I like her easy demeanor, the way she handled "tweens" as Jackson would call them and I love her relationship not just with her friends but with Noah as well. As for the hottie Jackson - he might be the firm believer of patience and PERFECT timing. Besides the fact that he is an eye-candy, one thing to adore about this man is his passion and his effort of becoming a good single father to his son. He always make sure that he comes first at whatever choice he was making.Considering his son, Noah is hitting puberty stage. It was quite a task he wasn't sure he was ready for. He was excited in starting over with a clean slate in a brand new city, with a new job and an interesting, beautiful neighbor. It was great to see the rest of the characters from the previous books, and how they are living their happil-ever afters. I missed them all!!!! They were really great friends not just to Liv, but they have welcomed Jackson with open arms, of course, with a little threat in the side.  The wait for the both of them to be together was worth it. They were attracted to each other, but didn't act on it at first, they circle around it, made some pranks, but when they finally get together, it was amazing - of course, Jackson made her wait a little more for the best part - I wanted to complain, but I guess, good things come to those who wait, because when it finally happened, it was just beautiful.  Everything can't be THAT perfect, so both of their past comes in, and tries to ruin everything. It was vile, manipulative and my heart broke for the both of them, most especially for Liv. Because THIS was her fervent wish and she thought it was finally coming true - only to know that it wasn't. When her world was crumbling and she was about to shut off, Jackson didn't let her. I love a guy who knows when to give space, and when to finally talk about it. Ready or Not is another well-written romantic read from J.L. Berg that will surely get you hooked and wanting for the next one in the series.

Liv thinks she has been gifted with the neighbor from Hades! His only redeeming quality is Noah - the eleven year old son with whom Liv connects immediately. Liv loves nature, organic foods, is a vegetarian and a modern day hippie. She tries to keep her life simple and uncomplicated. This she can control. Emotions, commitment, her father re-setting his priorities to politics instead of family first... those types of things she avoids like the plague. Jackson's life is centered around his son whom he adores. Noah has been his priority number one since the day his girlfriend walked out on them right after giving birth to Noah. Jackson has struggled, sacrificed and made something of their lives. Now that he is a successful lawyer, he still maintains his priorities. Although, if truth be told, there is a certain attraction toward his crazy neighbor. The courtship dance is unique. These two characters could not be more opposite, and yet, they understand each other and relish in the uniqueness of their attraction. The "love/hate banter" between these two is funny, refreshing and sometimes, very sensual. Just as they are finally settling into an intimate relationship, their world is turned upside down. How they deal and struggle makes this a very emotional story. The Ready Series by J.L. Berg has been a joy to read. You know the type... you are smiling while you are reading and people are asking you what the heck is so great about the book that has you smiling that big old smile. If you get the chance, the box set for books 1,2 and 3 is now available. They are each standalone stories. The characters involved are all friends. Reading their stories just makes the experience rich and fulfilling.

If you have read the three previous books in the series, then you are most likely going to like this book just as much. I will admit that I like Book 1 & 2 more than books 3 and 4 but Logan and Declan are my absolute favorites. I’m not going to lie; I thought Liv was just a tad bit weird at first. I guess I just haven’t really read a book where the main character is a heath nut. But once you got to know a little bit more about her you understand her more. And she doesn’t seem as off a little. I loved Jackson and Noah. They were pretty awesome and I think that they were what Liv needed and Liv was what they needed. I liked that all of the characters from the previous book were in this one. They are just like a great big family now. They are defiantly some funny parts in this book that had me laughing my butt off. I will say that I absolutely hated Noah’s mother. She was just awful. I thought it was a great addition to the series. And I can’t wait to see what’s next. Overall: I really liked it. I didn’t like it as much as the first two books (Logan and Declan are mine-can’t choose between them). But that’s okay. I’m really excited to see what next! Recommended: Heck yeah. If you liked the other books in the series, then you are going to like this book.
