I was so excited to read John Day's story! I found John endearing as Maggie's neighbor in Geoducks are for Lovers, and was always drawn to his Lumberjack personality and heart. When John meets Diane it is sweet and natural, but turned subtly sexy in an instant! I love the Island location, I loved the cameos from characters I met in Geoducks, I loved the sophistication of the story line, and loved the heavy, humorous, sexy romance!! I also found it gratifying to get inside John's head and heart, and discover why he was so hesitant to fall in love and embrace life to his full potential!!! Daisy Prescott is a very talented and wonderful writer!!! Read this book!!!!

I haven't even finished it yet but I felt the need to comment on how well it was written. Am enjoying the fact that it was written from a man's perspective. Going back to the story now. Just felt like I needed to note the different POV.

I  read this book without having read Geoducks are for Lovers. I am totally in love with John Day!! He is not perfect, having realistic hangups like the rest of the population, but he darn sure comes close. He is heartfelt and uber sexy and knows how to work a beard. The comedic bantering between characters is spot on. If you are looking for a great read, one that will go by far too fast, buy  this book! I promise you will not regret it! Stacey Schleisman

This is a sweet, at times sad, story of second chances and opening your heart to love. What fun was unusual (to me) is that it is told from the hero’s point of view.  It was a change of pace and there were times I found myself saying would a guy really think that?  All in all a sweet, funny, sexy read.  This book was recommended highly to me by a favorite author.  When I picked this up I had no expectations. I had never heard of Daisy Prescott.  This book is a spin-off and now I want to go back and read the first book.

They have a very hesitant and leery "getting to know you" relationship. Diane's imagination was on the weird side and their conversations were out of nowhere back and forth. I found them difficult to understand.

It started off pretty well but basically after the fight with Diane spiraled way downhill. The last part sped through ten minths and i HATED how she handled the sequence at the end. Very jaunty and did not do the story justice. It kkind of felt like she had an ending in mind but didnt know how to get to it. I dont know. The beginning of the story was looking like a clean romance but half way in the explicit scenes came out. Also, this isnt related to my ratingg but it really threw me off that a guy was the mc.

I found this book refreshing and couldn't put it down. Without giving to much away, I loved that it was in the Man's POV. I loved that the woman wasn't a whiney pushover that just falls in love in the first meeting. This was my first book from these author but it won't be my last. I highly recommend this book, especially if you're tired of the same old run of the mill books.

Love grumpy, cocky, funny, sexy, bearded men in flannel this book is fir you. I would give this book ten stars if I could. John Day is hot sexy and has a soft spot for his new next door neighbor. Diane finds John so different from her soon to be ex-husband and start to enjoy herself again. These two people from such different places are are perfect for each other.

I enjoyed the candor of the dialog. Very natural including the f- bomb. People do say it all the time!

John Days story was great. First time reading a story with the man's perspective, even showing his fears and hang ups. Very refreshing. Neither was looking for a relationship just kind of happens. Not without clearing the air and admitting what there hangups are. Very good story.

I enjoyed this romantic sexy story. I kept waiting for stupid drama and was very happy there was none.

In the end, everyone leaves. At least, that's been John Day's experience. So, sure, he's all for having a good time when it comes to the ladies, and, heck, you could even say he's dating, but, long-term? Nah, not him. When Diane Watson comes from off-island to spend some time at the cabin next door to John, well, he's just being neighborly, making sure that she has everything that she needs. Soon enough, though, John is just as interested in seeing Diane smile, knowing more about her, spending time with her, and, well, just, her. I discovered Daisy Prescott's books a little later, so am just meeting and loving the Wingmen of Whidbey Island, Washington. Daisy has created a quirky but loveable community of people that are steadfast in their sense of community and a little bit kooky at times, and I thoroughly enjoy them all. John is just fine living life the way that he is. He's got his job, he's got his aunt and uncle, and he's got his buddies, plus he's making his adolescent dreams come true by dating his high school crush. What's not to like? When Diane, escaping to Whidbey in the midst of a less-than-friendly divorce, shows up, John does what any good Whidbeyite would do, and takes her under his wing to make sure that she has everything that she needs to live on the island. One of the things that I like most about this, and others of Daisy's books, is that things develop over time. Neither John nor Diane is looking at the other as potential dating material (no, that's all Tom Donely, and he's a hoot!), and, while there are glimmers of attraction along the way, Daisy takes the time to develop a friendship between them. I thoroughly enjoyed their interactions, their banter, and seeing both of them open up as they became more comfortable with each other. The friends-to-lovers trope is one of my favorites, and Daisy does it humorously and well. READY TO FALL is 4.5 stars worth of sweet, sexy, redemptive, lumberjacky loveliness, and I just adored it. The icing on the cake, so to speak, is the short epilogue-like addition of TAKE THE CAKE AND RUN, and was the perfect way to end John's and Diane's story. Daisy's stories have become some of my favorites, and, if you haven't read her WINGMEN books yet, you're missing out. Grab these books and settle in, because you're going to love them.

Standalone, sexy, well written, a true romance. A very classy read. For those few negative reviews amongst all the positive ones, my guess is they are just looking for a lurid, raunchy romance..... This was refreshingly tasteful, i highly recommend this and will most definately purchase more in the series.

Definitely NOT a cliffhanger. I enjoyed reading a love story written from a man's point of view! The angst of not knowing and the joy of discovery was interesting when seen as a man. My sister lived in Oak Harbor decades ago when her ex-husband served at the air station. I remembered our visit as the author referred to local sights and she made me smile. This is a great read about finding a way to love after heartbreak. I would recommend this story.

Liked It! Unique story line and had its humorous, emotional and certainly real life moments... Quick read but author was able to draw me in to the point that I was involved with the characters and their story... John was a hunk with some baggage but what a cutie...
